looking forward to the range tests of the upgraded model. obviously these upgrades are in response to e-cell’s version with their rear battery, potted controller, piston brakes, etc. but good to get an idea how they compare to each other.

The new upgraded Wired bikes are incredible and I'm tremendously impressed. I have had my 2024 Freedom for 4 months now. Customer service has been terrific. Had I known beasts like these were going to be made, I would have held out. I am hoping they offer an upgrade path (e.g a discount for current customers).

I believe E-Cells has a better deal and available they have the dual battery available now. They don't charge shipping or tax and no $75 insurance fee.

Why do they think they are going to get away with not paying sales tax? Maybe when e cells sold 50 bikes a year, no one would notice. However when you sell 1000 bikes and are leading with “no tax” in your marketing, you are playing Russian roulette. Wired is still less expensive. Btw, the DCs are working together, may even be partners, along with Maximum Grifter.

Yeah, that would be a great addition. I sold my Aventon pace for the same reason. Torque sensor made the new one ride a lot more like my middrive ebike. I wish it went 35mph+ like this one. Only thing I don't like is the extra weight. My rack can only hold 60lbs.
Ecells has the option to choose torque or cadence I think

Great video and excitement for the new upgrades. Wish I wasn't one of the people who bought the bike 2 weeks ago.. its like Nissan releasing the new 2024 Rogue and right after you purchase they fix and add game changing additions. Lol. Wired needs to considered a reimbursement option imo.
It is a bummer, I bought mine about 6 months ago and still feel the pain, lol.
Shipping for the Wired freedom is $300 +$75 for shipping insurance if you want it. Seems like Wired is marking up the shipping cost. I checked the cost of shipping something with similar weight and it wasn't $300. Nice bike and upgrades though.
Interesting, it used to be $200 for shipping and optional for the insurance.
@@leetjohnson If you type CITIZEN-50 in the coupon code section you get $50 off. I noticed that $50 came off of the shipping which made me look into shipping cost and realize it's a higher mark-up for shipping.
Shipping to California is $250. Tax is about $145
Ecells shipped the exactly the same motors as their offering yesterday. Widened axles. Same motors according to Hentach. In stock ready to ship Monday. It's exciting to say we were the first to ship these new motors. Don't be fooled. Our DUAL STAR package is less than wired out the door. Do the math for 2395 out the door vs 2430 with the DUAL CROWN fork include included. ReaL TEKTO 4 PISTON BRAKES and 203 rotors front and rear. Don't be fooled.( I know you will take this down but I thought I'd let you know your liying to you audience. Give me a call)

I'd love to showcase your bike, but so far, you're going at it the wrong way and putting a bad taste in my mouth calling me a liar. It's 1,999 plus 250 shipping and 145 for tax. Where is the lie sir?
The only people who lose are those in the comments section. I'm researching both of these bikes and prefer videos like yours to anything I've read in the comments. I feel like ecells has a few paid shills out there but also the constant fighting between both owners just makes me wish there was a third vender that didn't engage in any of the toxicity. Take what you read in the comment section with a grain of salt is all I'm saying. Thanks for your review.

Thankyou for the breakdown of the changes made. I'm intrigued by this bike. Just looked up the price($800) for their battery. I don't see any reference to charge cycles/lifetime of their batteries. Any idea how many times/charge cycles their batteries are supposed to last for? Thanks again
I would expect to get about 500 to 1000 full battery cycles before the range is reduced to about 80% of the original battery capacity. That is pretty much the standard for lithium ion batteries.

If you could all wait until January 2025 e-cell is coming out with bigger motors on there bikes,bikes that have better hill climbing and can easily do 49 miles per hr.I think everyone that buys now is going to regret it when these new speed monsters come out,im personally waiting untill January myself.

I think competition is good, and I understand the hype that people have regarding E cells but, given a choice, if I were to buy another one, which I plan to do, it would still be a wired freedom. The E cells has an up charge for every little accessory. It really adds up fast. Also, some people want a torque sensor, but I don’t think that’s the way to go and even bicycle shop People are more in favor of cadence. Thanks for the video. I wish Wired would reach out to me and then I would start making videos as well.

The cruiser is perfect for me. Im 5'7" so I need a step though. I wanted full suspension and dual batteries and to be able to go atleast 40mph. I have been looking and waiting for like 3months at bikes for 2000$ but anything else cost like 3000$.

I have the same bike you have from wired... My wife would kill me if I ordered their new one. What to do?
Just sell it and don't mention anything. If she asks why it looks different, just tell her it was an upgrade, lol. It basically would be, as the cost difference for what you could sell the old one for and the price of the new one would justify the upgrade (minus the shipping and tax of course).
Order it.
You only live once... however long that is.
If you can afford it dude go for it! Not everyone has that option. And then maybe sell the other to claw some cash back... Or give it to the wife and get her to join in on the fun 🤣

Yeah, it's always a bummer when they upgrade stuff all of the sudden, especially since it's the same price! I'm hoping to get the updated version soon.
I like the Wired bike. However, Ecell's wins hands down reference all the options that are available. Another big plus is Ecell will let me have a custom color for an additional fee. I called Wired the other day and a woman answered. I inquired about a custom color change for a fee, and she said, "No." click! I'm going with Ecell.
I agree, ECells has a lot more options for customization for sure!
About the only meaningful option is the as of yet not tested torque sensor. Btw, the constant power approach works really well, better than a torque sensor or a mph based cadence sensor imo. The dual crown upgrade is worthless as it is not a thru axle and limits the turn radius of an already less than nimble tire width. E cells offered a Gates drive, then quickly withdrew it when they realized it wouldn’t work without an expensive transmission in back. So the only option is colored wheels and a torque sensor. I’d bet the e cells torque sensor will work as well as the e cell Gates drive.
Will you be able to survive best case scenario for range? I'm looking seriously at the new cruiser!

Interesting. The owner was just boasting on a comment here saying it's ready to be shipped on Monday...wonder what the real truth is....he also tried calling me a liar. Definitely will be making a video about this.
@@leetjohnson oh wow. Don't mean to cause a rift. It says on their website standard orders ship in 60 days and custom orders ship in 75. Maybe that's about to change. That's my big hangup right now. Does Wired ship right away? Might be a little more expensive. But 2 months+ wait is a long one.
@AndyLong No worries!! I think Wired only has Pre-Orders right now, and the website says they ship mid to late June at the moment.

The only way for Wired to offer these prices was for them to order a shitload of bikes. Steve told me this was by far their largest order ever. To put it in context, the last order was measured in the thousands. I think Wired would like to have most of the bikes in inventory available for immediate shipping in July. Hard to compete with a superior bike when you also are handicapped by a 60-75 day wait time.
What new model are they coming out with??? Hopefully a 20 inch...

The one I have shown here in this video wouldn't quite make it, but the new one that is coming out with dual batteries could make it there! You would have to charge both batteries to get back home though.

So apparently, the Owner of e cells spent 11 years in jail for killing somebody in a DUI and was on home confinement until 2021 and did not pay his full restitution. He started e cells while on house arrest. Before jail, I think the article on the Wired Facebook group says Dave sold manufactured homes. Explains why they don’t know much about bikes and are operating like a criminal enterprise not paying taxes and defaming Wired.

I’ve noticed that @JFLY2249 has been quite boisterous in attacking E-cells. He had better hope that he is 100% correct in all of his allegations. Because even though we are free to say anything we want under the constitution. We are also liable for whatever we say if what we are saying is a lie and Causes damage. Unlike politicians, we peons can be sued and held liable for any lies that we may profess about others..
