UPDATE! Wired has stated that the new Samsung battery cells should be set (P5 setting) to 6. The older models had LG cells, and those should be set to 16. Hope this helps anyone having an incorrect battery reading after using the settings in this video.
UPDATE #2! The 2024 Wired Freedom DOES have a motor temperature sensor, so be sure to turn C8 to 1 to enable this feature!
I was just going to post this. 6 is correct for all 2024 bikes. You should probably go back and edit your video to reflect the correct info since a lot of people don't read comments.
@joelelah3589 I can't edit the video, I'd have to repost it...which I might do.
I was about to post about P5 also, in addition.
I have seen many posts that C8 can be set to 1, and motor temperature does show. Apparently, a sensor has been added to the 2024. I haven't tested this myself as I always forget to change it so I can check.
@@NOWitsOKto does the temp actually go up or is it just measuring ambient temp?
@@leetjohnson In the videos I've seen, the temperature does change. Now the question is, in a computer 90 C is where we draw the line for "it's getting hot", which btw is 194 F.
So what is too hot for and electric motor, as I have no idea, but have heard some say they have seen a 120 which I'm thinking because we see the other temperature in F it's also F.
Don't know on that last part, but as stated I'm heard from several that it does work, I keep forgetting to check for myself. Which my 70 yr old azz will at some point.
I’ve had a couple confusing first days with this bike. It’s a beast. Thanks for helping me sort it out.
You're welcome! Let me know if you have any questions!
Giant time saver, well done! Thanks!
You're welcome!
I got the Cruiser in white. Picked it up from the warehouse. Having a blast. This info is great . Thanks.
Awesome!!
I just watched this video too!!! Awesome!!! You have been really helpful on learning about this bike... Thanks a bunch... I really dig this bike!!! 🤘😎🤘
I'm glad you are enjoying the bike and my videos! I really appreciate the feedback.
This is great...thank you 👍👍👍
You are welcome!!!
awesome info! just assembled my Freedom today.. Will come in handy when setting up settings tomorrow before first ride!!! FREEEEEDDDOOOMMMMM!!!! : )
Awesome!!!
Well done!! Thanks !!
Thank you!!
Thanks, all data in one place quick and effecient!
You're welcome!
Just be sure if you have the 2024 model to set P5 to 6 not 16
You are a damn legend. Thank you.
Thank you!
Your the only guy on CZcams that has and have explained C15 in the settings thank you
👍
Yah it's nice to finally be able to adjust the walk assist.
Thank you for doing the work and finding this information! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Be sure to set your P5 setting to 6 if you have the Samsung cells (2024 version).
@leetjohnson my bike arrives in January but saving videos like yours
@@Wisskey8t9 Awesome!
Thank you. I needed those settings. Copied to my google drive :)
You're welcome!!
Dude! This is such good, useful information. Thank you very much. Can't wait until my machine gets here in late May. In the meantime, soaking up as much information as possible. The guys at WIRED emailed me a link to a PDF version of the owner's manual. Reading that now. Take care.
You are very welcome!!!
Thx bro 🎉
You're welcome!!
Very informative.. thank you!
You're welcome!
Be sure to set your P5 setting to 6 rather than 16 if you have the 2024 version!
Thank you
You are very welcome!!
Well Done!
Thank you!!
I have the 2024 cruiser and I do get correct motor temp readings with C1: set to 1. It displays under the ambient temp reading as MOTT.
Awesome! I addressed this in my most recent video, you are 100% correct!
I just got mine yesterday. Today was my first ride and I already launched it into the crosswalk in front of waiting cars. I'm definitely lowering C5
Right on!
Thanks so much for Menu settings, I'm in orangevale so maybe we'll run into each other.
Right on! My email is on my main page description if you ever want to meet up sometime!
C8 motor temp sensor works on mine.. i got 2024 freedom with Samsung battery. P5 set to 8 is correct.
Awesome!
There is a TEMP for the motor, so if you're C8 to 1, it should work.
Correct!!! I have seen as high as about 240 degrees Fahrenheit and have heard that the motor and wiring can handle up to about 300 degrees for short periods of time.
@leetjohnson That's awesome. I just got mine today and put it all together. I'll take it out tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad in Reno NV
@@dwaz69 Awesome!!!! Stoked for you, you're gonna love it!!!
have you tried or thought about a 3 inch tire on this bike or is it possible? to save battery rolling resistance and weight more sporty
Not really. 3 inch tires aren't nearly as common as the 4 inch ones. Haven't had any issues with the 26×4s.
Green
Awesome!!
P-5 is supposed to be 6 from steve owner of wired. from the horses mouth. this is for wired bikes with the samsung battery both 23 and 24.
Correct! I have a pinned comment stating this. Have a great day!
just received my Freedom. rookie question, what gear setting do you use when using throttle only? talking about the gear shifter on the right. if using PAS you would change the gears based on the speed? first time ebike owner here so wanted to understand before hitting the road. Thanks for making this video.
Congratulations! When you are using the throttle, you don't need to worry about the gears, as the motor is independent of the gearing. Yes, when you are using the pedal assist, the gears will matter, but depending on the pas level and the terrain (uphill or downhill) you will need to shift to the lower gear number (bigger, easier to pedal gear) in order to climb steep hills, unless you are in pas 4 or 5, then it won't really matter what gear you are in, unless the hill is very steep. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further clarification!
@@leetjohnson Thank you!!!
@@SuperSlappy25 you're welcome!!
How do you turn the head light on? Got mine today and can’t figure it out.
Simultaneously, hold down the middle and up button on the pas selector for 3 seconds.
Hold down the Up button for 2 seconds.
Really just need to set your speed limit, please obey local laws, and adjust C10 and C14 to your liking. C10 at 0,1,2 gives you full throttle with a more gentle throttle curve, you do not want to ride off road with C10 set to 10, way too twitchy. Try C14 at 1, makes the bike really nice to pedal and better at slower speeds. 1400 miles on mine, Chao Yang tires have been great so far, no complaints, no problems.
I agree with the c5 being set to 10 is too much for offroad...although it is handy when riding on the road in traffic. I do wonder if setting it to 10 will shorten the lifespan of the motor/gears. Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
@@leetjohnsonIt is probably better for your motor and battery longevity to avoid the fastest start, but not as fun. That said, I haven’t heard of any issues with the motor save a few loose magnets in the very first batch. The hybrid steel and nylon gears of the Hengtai motor really stand up to the power and torque of the 60v system where nylon gears would wear quickly. If you want more acceleration (faster than a Grizzly), you can go to “11” with a simple shunt mod on the controller, plenty of videos online. I have ridden a 23 Freedom that was shunt modded and you could pull a wheelie pretty easily. The new motor has more copper windings and mass and can take even more current than the old so should be even better for a shunt mod. Personally, I’m good at C10 at 2.
@jfly2249 I think that you are right. 10 is sooo crazy powerful, I wondered about longevity too using it at full power. Thank you so much for the information, I really appreciate it!!
C10 that's for reset
my p5 was 6
Perfect!
I forgot to ask.....I live in Alaska and wondering the rating of the bike being water 💧 proof? If you know.
Wired states that it is rated IPX5. This is the definition I found online for IPX5...
"IPX5 rating offers protection against water projected from a spray nozzle (or jet of low-pressure water stream) at any angle for up to 10 - 15 minutes from a distance of 3 meters at 30 kilopascals pressure. Generally, it is considered water-resistant, sweatproof, rainproof, or splashproof but not as fully waterproof."
That being said, I wouldn't reccomend purposely going into water with it, and although a light rain would be ok, I would avoid it if possible, although I couldn't imagine riding in the rain would be fun anyways.
Mine is green, and thanks for doing this. As others have noted, there is a motor temp sensor, maybe update your pinned comment? thanks!
Awesome! Good idea, I'll update my pinned comment now!
Hi, does this have a Tripmeter and if so, does it reset automatically every time at power off or does it stay in the memory, and you reset manually via button push?
It does have an odometer that does not reset every time to shoe the total distance traveled on the bike. I need to fond out if it has a trip meter, but I'm almost positive it does as every other ebike I have owned has one that can be reset at any time with the push of a few buttons. Let me double check and I will get back to you on this!
@@leetjohnson Cool, thanks. I noticed in your other video the display show 'DST'... not sure if that's Odometer or Trip 😁
@lonestartex1 that's the Distance traveled, aka odometer, but I'm not sure if it can be reset or if there is a way to toggle to trip...there usually is. I'll check and let ya know!!
@@lonestartex1It does have a trip meter! If you press the center button, it toggles between the odometer and the trip meter. It also toggles the average speed and top speed as well. I'll include this in the next video!
Bruv, just re-upload. Way too much misinfo in this and taking it down wont do any harm. Love that you put it all in one place, lets just get an up to date accurate one 😎
What about it is inaccurate besides the p5 setting at 16 for the 2023 model?
