Terrible clickbait. It "fixes" nothing. It masks it. Buy a record flattener and it will pay for itself in dividends. These weights and clamps are scams imo. Actually FIX the record instead of working around the problem. Also, clamps don't do so great to "fix" other warp issues. Literally, 6/10 new records I buy have some some of warp (including dish warped). I always have a record in my flattener. Please look into a proper solution and not hacks.

I’ve been absorbing John’s music for 40 years… I’m not particularly a jazz fan… I came Tom John through miles Davis and John McLaughlin. I can’t imagine what life would be like without John’s music lighting the way through a dark world. I never really thought of John’s music as “out there” he never really recorded anything he didn’t have complete mastery of it seems to me. As a black man at that particular time and place in the universe John’s music transcended the past, the present, the future… he was able to compress his feelings, his insights and just play his heart out…. I love the “live in Paris” where he really just lets go and “a river runs through it” lol same with his “live at Newport”, a recording of his ‘my favorite things’ live at newport will go into the coffin with me along with a books of yeats poems.

Sam Cooke is a LEGEND! I have a couple compilations including the portraits of legend like the one you have and a OG of the best of Sam Cooke also. I know I asked you about this Sam Cooke too lol, but definitely gonna cop this after my 2 kids Birthdays this month lol. Sam Cooke was, is, and will always be a soul legend. I too have the RT85 with the Ortofon Blue cartridge. Love it and never had any issues at all. But that said I have had no other turntables to compare and contrast it against. Man, I pride myself in being one of the 1st to comment lol, but it's been a sh!t show today at work. Anyways, I'm gonna have to send you some pics of a turntable a friend of my moms gave me after her husband died. It's a old Montgomery Wards airline record and 8 track player with a AM/FM Dial also. The record player works just not sure about the 8 track player. But I wanna refurbishe it and get it looking shiny and new. Thanks for the great video. I wanted to upgrade from my 48 year old AR XB to something from the 21st century 😉 so have ordered the RT85. The acrylic platter and Ortofon Blue were the factors that influenced this decision. I will check the cartridge alignment when I receive it. Thanks for the alignment checking resources. What is your everyday use turntable now?

I love mine! Mine is a "RT-84" model I bought in the summer of 2021, and it's still great! I put a acrylic "mat" on the original aluminum platter, and it does the job right!

Good turntable. My mom's boyfriend got one. Do not know if it's with all of them but with no VTA one needs a slip mat (he got an acrylic one of course) so that the tone arm is parallel with the platter / record. Without the tone arm looks to be pointing down a little bit.

I bought the fluance 83 and upgraded it to the acrylic platter still want to get the ortofon 2m blue I heard that it's a really good one for switching from the red one I also got the record weigh for it

Great video! Thanks again for your channel. Just a correction of sorts. At 13:26, there is not a straight upgrade path from the RT-80/81 to the RT-82/3/4/5. The 80 and 81 use not only a different plinth, but a different motor and belt setup. The belt in the 80/81 does it go around the platter, but around a sub-platter pulley that is of smaller diameter. This means the motor turns at a different rate for a given speed 33 vs 45. So a platter for an 82-85 will not work on an 80 or 81. Even the RT-81+ Elite does not use the acrylic platter. It is an acrylic mat on a thinner aluminum platter. I bought mine as an RT-82 refurb and upgraded the platter (and later the cart - Sumiko Moonstone). As for the 30 seconds before auto stop, two things: The auto stop works after 18 revolutions, just over 30 seconds. It only works with the auto stop switch in the back turned on. If the switch is off, the “semi-auto” feature does not function. That is, the table will start turning if the speed knob is set to either 33 or 45 no matter where the tonearm is. Hey Rocco, I'm still rocking my RT85 after 2 1/2 years. For Christmas 2022 I added the Zen iFi phono stage, and then a few months ago I upgraded it to the Ortofon Bronze. Great table! The only issue I've run into is that the dampening fluid for the tone arm went bone dry. So when I lowered the tone arm it would drop like a rock onto the record. After doing some internet searches I found that this is a bit of a known problem with a small subset of RTxx owners. I found a site called Turntable Basics that sell syringes of dampening fluid. I bought some from them, refilled the RT85's tone arm "well", and now it's all good again.

I fix my warped and dished vinyl using a Vinyl Flat. Follow the directions exactly and you will have nothing but perfectly flat records.

Good video. But I'm so glad I stopped buying records. Something can always go wrong in terms of pressing, that's life. But how many times do you have to return records until you get the right one!? Mint should be mint! (for the most part) I started collecting records when I was 13, before that I only bought cassettes. I'm 40 now and stopped a year ago. A weight was lifted from my shoulders! Listening/collecting music should remain fun! I had more problems with ''new'' records than second-hand. Oh well, cool video and awesome albums!

One BIG problem with ordering from the In-Groove is that Mikey has a terrible relationship with the Phoenix USPS. Since he ships USPS, and because they have a poor relationship (99.9% the fault of the USPS I should mention), once the USPS makes the outgoing pick-up off the In-Groove dock, the Phoenix post office will sit on those outbound packages for a week before they will get them going in the postal system. So on average it will take over two weeks to get your records from the In-Groove just because the Phoenix post office are assholes.

It doesn't seem to me that you have a clear understanding of the DSD step that Mo-Fi was using in the mastering of their records. To call Mo-Fi liars is unreasonable and unfair. But you're going to believe what you want to believe. I'll leave it at that.

VTA is what divides the low end tables from the beginning of the audiophile tables. So you were right to point out the importance of this adjustment.

You can indeed send your records to Perfect Vinyl Forever to be cleaned. I’ve sent mine a few times. You don’t need to do their archival process at $8/record to use their service. Their ultra deep cleaning process produces good results at $5/record. This is what I use, and I recommend this if your records are within what a normal dirty record (dust, fingerprints, etc.) would have. I can’t disagree with you more about the Spin Clean. No, it’s NOT a tub of dirty water if you change it frequently. And besides, that dirt just shows that it works. And isn’t that the whole point of record cleaning, to get rid of the dirt???!!! I think that it’s the most economical way to get deep into the grooves that’s out there. And before you say it: I clean my brushes every time I change my water, so NO, they DON’T just add crud back to the records. I also clean the brushes if I just cleaned a really dirty record. So your objections to the Spin Clean literally don’t hold water!!! No, I don’t think you’re full of crap. But I do think you needed to do some more research on at least some of the material you spoke about in this video. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to know as much about a subject as I can before coming out and saying something something publicly. If nothing else, it keeps the trolls away!!!

VMP seems like its become a flippers subscription, limited edition fomo pushers. People trying to sell the Sabbath pressing for outrageous prices a day after they were released. I hate this about the "vinyl resurgence" artificial scarcity is ruining the fun of it.

T Rex 'Electric Warrior' re-press would be grand. Scored Moses and T Rex. Also 'A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night', easy laid back vocals 1940s style ballads with orchestra. Flat as a pancake and spotless clean black vinyl, dead silent. Gorgeous. His album with the magnum opus FM favorite in the 1970s 'Jump Into Fire' sold out. Still waiting for their box sets Grateful Dead, Blue Note and Impulse. Disappointed they didn't cut the Moses album cover as originally released with the massive cross fold out, a poster is a substitute. Thanks for the great reviews again.

Since VMP uses the resealable outer it would be great if they shipped the discs outside the jacket. That would eliminate any seam splits and possibly some warps too.

The title is “Hold on, I’m coming,” and the turtle is slow. Electric Warrior and The Slider are T-Rex glam rock. They never really made it in the US but were huge in the UK. Their fortunes were on the decline around the time of Bolan’s death.

The only issue I've had with Target is getting a warped record. They wouldn't let me return it because they won't accept open media products. I no longer will buy from them. Agree with Warner and Sound of Vinyl. I've had great experiences with Amazon. Easy returns and the packaging has definitely improved over a few years ago. Disney records isn't too bad to deal with. Probably a B tier. Music on Vinyl has also been good for me. Will check out a couple on your list.

Dang it! And to think, I thought I was Plaid Room’s only online customer, because that’s how they make me feel. In store is an even better experience. One thing you didn’t mention about Plaid Room, that should separate them even more from the A-Tier’s, their regular priced vinyl is normally a dollar or two cheaper than everyone else.
