Yes you are right about April. Spent wayyyyyy too much for my liking. Definitely check out more from Oliver Nelson especially The Blues and the Abstract Truth.
I definitely will. Thanks for watching!
That Oliver Nelson album is just about my favorite thing VMP has ever sent me. I was unfamiliar with it but I love The Blues and the Abstract Truth and this was his next album after that. So when they said that was the album of the month, I knew I wasn’t going to swap. I would also say that February’s classic pick, Another Earth by Gary Bartz was fantastic. You can’t even stream that album. That’s why I joined VMP.
Yes… the abstract truth!
That is my favorite - when they have stuff you can’t even stream.
You answered your own question. Why is SRV a rock album? Voodoo Child. When you watch Hendrix do it at Woodstock, it's still unsurpassed, out there in the stratosphere. SRV version is excellent though. Commonly rock integrates the blues. Led Zeppelin, The Cream, Rolling Stones, etc (why Prog rock is known for it's total break from blues influences). I missed the RSD deal kicking myself. Great video productions, keep them rolling down the tracks
I think my definition of blues might be a little more less traditional also. The first track on this could also be considered a straight rocker. It’s blues changes- but it’s a barn burner!
I've had a hard time trying to balance work and home life. It's stressful, especially in today's economy. That scares the shit out of me too brotha man. Kinda off the subject but I went to Fania record website, and here pretty soon their gonna announce a box set for their 60th anniversary. So be on the look out for that, I know I am. Much love brotha man, your the man.
I hear you man! Hang in there! And take it easy! But oh shit - a fania box set. I just had ALL of those Fania re issues in a cart - would have been around $300. I almost pulled the trigger. I will probably be back!
@@PiecesofVinyl I believe it's gonna be a 45 singles box set, so not sure if that's gonna change your mind because I know you want the LP's as well but a 45 box set from Fania is gonna be a banger. I wish they would reissue a colored version of Ralfi Pagan- A star is born album.
Jesus, When does all this vinyl buying stop?? RSD and vinyl me please and just constant buying You need a never ending bank account for all this stuff!! The price of vinyl keeps getting worse and space keeps getting smaller!!
I agree on all counts. I am definitely running into space issues. But - the VMP stuff I technically paid for almost a year ago. That all said - I limit my vices and I work like four jobs! But it doesn’t matter I have the ultimate trifecta drummer/vinyl collector/videographer so really it’s just four jobs to keep all my shit! 💩
