Thumper The VS1400 Suzuki Intruder
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed rokem
In today's vlog, I finally introduce you to my new Suzuki Intruder VS1400, Thumper. Thumper came into my possession a little over a year ago and I have been tinkering on and off to get him back on the road. Thumper is the birthchild of decades of tinkering, engineering and many bottles of red wine. His previous owner, Grey Wolf, spent thousands of hours on this bike, customising, modifying, mac...

After years of blood, sweat, and tears...Countless hours and thousands of pounds in parts...My beloved Suzuki Intruder VS1400 has taken a huge punch to the gut. Shortly after releasing my last video titled "I'm Back", Helga, my Suzuki Intruder, has had serious, bottom-end problems and is in need of a full-engine tear-down. Finding chunks of magnetic metal in the oil the size of nickels/pennies ...

The process of installing a stage 3 jet kit on the intruder is quite advanced and I highly recommend that you approach this modification with caution. There is a simpler solition to this. Assuming that there is one shared indicator light for left and right signals you can replace the standard bulb with a led bulb (which is essentially a diode as well). Now you only have to rewire the ground wires of your front signal lights to the positive lead of your indicator light and lead the negative from the indicator light to a ground lead. Often you can do this by just switching the connectors, without cutting or splicing into wires.

RT is “NOT” tdc for the front cylinder, rear only, FT is for front Tdc. I destroyed my head piston and exhaust valve by doing exactly what you said, I tried to figure out what went wrong and if you simply check piston level on both cylinders at “RT TDC” the rear will be at tdc but not front

Any idea if process will work on any motorcycle? Have vintage 85 Goldwing Limited.

    •  Před 2 měsíci

I essence and theory...YES. providing your motorcycle only jas a single flashing light on your tacho/speedometer. BUT, you will need to find the correct wires for your bike, they will likely be different to mine. Be safe and find the workshop manual and the wiring diagram to check before cutting.

Hi there, (Great videos btw!) I’m considering buying a Rhino trike - 2006 vs1400 intruder. The bike has probably been sitting in a showroom for at least a couple of months. My concern is that the old fuel will have affected the carbs, and I’ll be stranded on the way home! Do you have any thoughts on this……? Also what is your opinion on the reliability etc of the intruder? Many thanks for any help you can give me. Cheers Bro Mark

    •  Před 3 měsíci

Hey Mark. Great question. The only way to be sure about the bikes fuel system is to check it before you ride it. If she starts with minimal problems and minimal popping and back firing then you should be good to go...do you have far to travel? If its been in a show room, I would like to think that they will have drained the fuel before storing. I. Terms of reliability, the biggest flaw I have found with these bikes is the wiring loom on the bike (I rebuild mine from the ground up with all new wire) and lack of upkeep and servicing by the owner. They are big engines with big components and regular oil changes is a must. 10w40 semi synthetic is what I run, found full synthetic was too thin when hot. I change my oil and filters every march. Typically cover between 3-5k per year on them. Feel free to ask if you have more questions
