This guy has terrifying eyes. Like mark zukerberg Typa lizard robot eyes.
You've figured me out, I'm definitely a lizard robot... thanks for blowing my cover!

Beautiful. Reminds me of my great grandma's garden. 💚
Looks Fantastic!
Thanks!
Grow up on a farm with cattle and fences and never once had me Or needed one. Definitely not a must have.
I was just thinking about this.

Bastards!!!@@thehomesteadconsultant
You know that same driver that you put them in with takes them out right?
A piece of rope with 2 posts. If it extends past, additional pressure can be applied.
Cool. I like the drip cup. Convenient.
I ripped off the idea from another youtuber, I wish I could remember who to give them credit. The clear cups let me take the trees out to see the roots while the red cups block light most of the time.
That looks way more logical and efficient than using the winch on my Jeep but not nearly as cool😂
😆
Back in my day we rocked them back and forth about 3 or 4 times and then pulled them out. But then again, I was only 12.
Yeah. Wtf… wiggle wiggle yank. I pulled about 25 out, one handed, just a few days ago. Took like 5 lazy minutes.
That sometimes works in sandy or loamy soils. It does not work in clay soils, especially when the post is deep.
@@thehomesteadconsultant seems to work pretty good in Michigan clay, Virginia clay, and Kentucky clay. Never tried it in homestead clay though.
🤷♂️ maybe you're just outrageously 💪
Yep, back in the day when men were men and so were the woman, compared to men now days
You can also use a car jack and a chain
Yes you can. That would have taken me several days with the number of posts I needed to remove.
@@thehomesteadconsultant oh you're still living in the fast lane 🤣
An old tire, chain and a truck. Must be pn a rim. Wrap chain around the bottom of the post, loop over tire attach to truck. Pull forward slowly.
Add a section of chain and you have an excellent bruch, shrub and small tree puller
dream on.
These elderberries are all still alive and thriving
or, use your brain and pour a half gallon water the day before.
It was raining for 2 days before I made this video and it was still this hard to pull out 🙄.
Lol...love the "spatula" 😅
I love that you caught it! Yes, it's a small trowel that works better than any spatial that I can find 😆
sorry what? i can't hear you over all the cornfeed my chickens are eating
😆
EGGXELLENT
Not to tell you what to do but butter + eggs are extremely high in saturated fat and cholesterol. For your health, just consume the white portion, very little to no oil as well instead of butter.
bro do you ever live? or do you exist in fear of the passage of time?
Look up the "cholesterol myth" and dive down the rabbit hole my friend (avoid Google as they have scrubbed any real information). I intentionally eat a TON of cholesterol and saturated fats. I have perfect health numbers and have cured several supposed "genetic conditions, and feel better in my 40s than in my 20s because of eating this was. What we have been told about food is nearly 100% ass backward.
I find that hard to believe but hey if it's working for you by all means keep doing it though I'd still be wary.
😁
Exercise
excellent
Yup the evil Schwab thinks we are dumb chickens. 😝
Yessssss!
Great videos sir. Thank you.
Thank you!
Just use a t post driver. Watched my dad do it way back in the day. Use the same tool for both jobs. No need to explain because there are videos on yt about it.
That is an option, but a properly driven t-post in dry clay soil would not come out that way. It is also likely to bend you t-post when trying to remove it when it is driven deep enough. Here is a video of the method you are mentioning. czcams.com/video/ukvE7TQMizQ/video.htmlsi=bxxwMB8HjffOWFx7
How much water do you get in thst swale? Won't they get washed away ?
The swale is designed to have specific overflow points to prevent any damage. It was designed so that the amount of water collecting above it does not exceed the amount of water the system can handle. See how that works here czcams.com/users/shortsD1bmmScitlA?feature=share
@@thehomesteadconsultant Thanks ,wish you could come to our place. We have a creek that washed out and trying to figure out how to fill in the banks. Plus a pond that gets slimy every summer and needs to have the overflow rebuilt. Thanks for the channel !👍
Good to know.
Ah shit....i find it interesting. Am i getting old?
😆 possibly, but who cares!
Just thinking about Tyson Foods and all those chicken houses...
If that level of production was managed properly, it would shift from being one of the worst thing for the environment to being one of the better things.
This is CZcams gold... Actual information
Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful!
I've always heard them called terraces for 70 years.
A terrace is a flat, stair step structure that gas a much steaper face. They are often used in a similar way to distribute water, but they have several differences in their construction and overall purpose.
THAT'S JUST SWELL
I never thought useless information can be this interesting.. This is pretty cool. BTW are those Fruit Trees?
Yes, they are fruit trees and we are working on filling out all the spaces between with fruit bushes and herbs.
Swales are Swell 😁
I concur!
Are these native species?
The original mix that we planted was natives, these are volunteers so some may be non-native.
Found you on Nostr! Great video!
Cool, I'm meeting lots of great people through Nostr!
I have the exact same arched trellis using the 16 foot cattle panel. I use mine to grow Kentucky Wonder pole beans. They will grow all the way to the top and then some.
Great content! I'm gearing up fo a few swells myself. Keep it up.
You can layer 3” of gravel then a corrugated drain pipe (with the drains facing down) then gravel to the top of the trench. It still holds a ton of water and gets rid of the trip hazard. Hope this helps!
Some people fill them with mulch, but I don’t know how healthy that is for peoples plants. Due to the wood chips sitting in standing water. I don’t know what kinds of ecological and bacterial/fungal issues you could get from it.
Thanks for your thought. Yes, that could work but I opted to dig real swales where they were because I never intended for the trenches to be permanent

@@leonsaquaponicsandhomegard6793 you're to generous 😆 thanks!
If you have a broadfork, it might be worthwhile to use it to loosen the clay soil in the swale to aid infiltration.
I have found that creating the right environment (heavy mulch and tillage radish in this case) is very effective and that, in the long run, not disturbing the soil is a better option. Just my opinion though.
@@thehomesteadconsultant I wouldn't suggest it as annual task, but a one broadforking, which doesn't up end or alter the soil profile could give you a jumpstart especially if you have a claypan. Raking sand or compost into the tine holes could help with soil infiltration in many soil conditions. Tillage radishes will also do this but may take reseeding them for several seasons to get down to 16 to 18 inches. Think of it like Yeoman's Keyline Plowing.
Thanks for your video. Just a quick comment, as far as I know, wood ash increases pH, since it has an alkaline pH >10. I guess that's what you meant since you have an acidic soil and want to increase pH with wood ash. Correct me if I'm wrong. Take care.
You are correct. I miss spoke/miss typed :(
It would benefit you to ask for support from your followers. By watching the new playlist that you made called all ..... videos!!!
Good call, it's hard to remember to ask when I'm out making the video.
I've heard of this method. It works because insects breathe through pores in their abdomen, and the soapy water clings to and covers those pores so you're basically choking them out.
I had not heard of that, thanks for the info!
