NOMAD was the part of the movie I hated the most. A completely nonsensical weapons platform. Why do you need to launch cruise missiles above? We have cruise missiles already. Why can they not seem to decide if it's flying in atmosphere or in LEO? Why does it need to shine a big ass targeting laser when it is clearly capable of firing at targets out of LOS? Science fiction is exactly that, SCIENCE fiction. There's got to be some coherent rules in place, and the science part of the fiction was so entirely bullshit that I could not suspend my disbelief.

This movie.. made no sense. I liked it for the nonsensical action, but the plot? Meh

My first red flag for Zack Snyder was his audio commentary for Dawn of the Dead, (still my favourite Snyder film.) His overuse of the word "awesome" to describe just about everything made me thankful that James Gunn wrote the script.

Most of these points come from the book. As a book reader, I know all the cut details, and I enjoy the movie. However, I understand the perspective of a movie watcher who is looking a consistent movie, and not a adaptation only.

I’ve only sat through TWO of Snyder’s movies: 300 and Man of Steel and BOY did I find them boring and dull. One of my problems with Snyder is he CAN’T write a screenplay or characters to save his life, also the HORRIBLE gray color scheme he gives his movies, making them 4 hours long, the fact that he doesn’t GET well known characters and of course, releasing a movie AGAIN with a R-Rated directors cut that NO ONE BUT HIS RAPID FANBASE asked for

And to all the ones with the "shut up and watch the movie" and "who cares?" comment: When you start making movies you have to know what to to and how to do it. You have to be able to make a solid/good movie and make a name before you can put out trash and still make money 🙃So yes, there are people who care about this type of comments: Storytellers of any capacity and people who want to learn from examples

Credit to Marvel for the way the built the anticipation for the film with Agents of Shield. The mid-season finale when they discovered Hydra infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and was activating it's agents. Winter Soldier is definitely one of the best films in generation one.

I honestly don't understand the criticism that the final battle is too fast and one sided. It's to balance out the One sided fight that lead to the fall of house Atreides. House Atreides fell in a single night with Harkonnen and about 60,000 Sardaukar. In order to 'leap frog' this and show the shear power that Paul's influence has earned him, he needs to be able to defeat both the Harkonnen and the Imperial forces with just as much ease. Also, it would defeat the purpose of the story's main theme about the danger's of popular leaders. In a traditional hero story, yes, it's more rewarding to see a struggle, but this is not a traditional hero story. Paul's ascendance is meant to provoke fear at how dangerous charismatic leaders are. He quickly amasses more power and influence than he could ever hope of actually controlling and at the end, he himself knows that he can't. There is resignation in his voice as he says 'lead them to paradise.' A final battle that is hard fought and struggles to the bitter end would not nearly hit as hard.

Salvation was actually a good movie. I loved the gritty post apocalyptic setting.

The plot was almost exactly the same as Transformers 2007. The Bay films are mixed bags so I think general audiences were wary. The most interesting part was the Cybertron scenes and they were over within a few minutes. And it did okay for what it was.

A lot of what you say is missing is told in the book it was based on
