I use haircutting, hairstyling, conversation, and photography to help people feel friggin’ cool. I do this at The Young American salon (Southern Local location) in Tustin, california (TheYoungAmerican.com) but here on CZcams I just make videos about whatever feels fun and compelling to talk about- sometimes hair, sometimes photography, sometimes random topics... My portfolio is hanging out at @AndrewDoesHair on Instagram, and I have other various things happening at AndrewDoesHair.com

Please don't hesitate to ask questions, I'll answer anything I can... As of recording this video I'm working primarily in California but within the next few weeks I'll be working primarily out of Tennessee. I'll change this caption to reflect my current whereabouts, but my instagram bio also holds such information.

The ruler as a ruler: cut the hair to two inches. Your head as the ruler: cut the hair to a square shape long enough to bend and lay down but short enough to stand up, too. How many inches is that? I don't know.

This is the best camera review I've seen on youtube. You explained your use case and the pros and cons so clearly and objectively. I would love it if this were more the general vibe of camera youtube. Great work!
Wow, this style I’m looking for 😮
Nice content, +1 subscriber from Brazil
What an outstanding video. I know exactly what you mean, I feel exactly the same way about my Simmulux M 50mm. I really want this lens now.
Hi Andrew, I was hesitating between the Canon Eos 40D and the 50D. Thanks to your honest and though fully clever documented video I finally purchased mine ! An almost brand new semi pro DSLR for almost nothing, less than 100€, which is nothing when you carefully look at the beast, built like a tank, indestructible, fully reliable, so nice in the hand and the typical Canon first years color tone, love it ! And it looks so good aside my 5D2 and 6D ! But unfortunately, I won't be able to play with it for long because as you mention in your video, the 40D is the perfect first camera. And a person I really love wants to learn photography. So I mounted an EF 50mm f/1.8 II for 60€ and here we go, we have the perfect kit to start and learn and hopefully have lots of pleasure with that unbeatable combo. Thank you again and keep on posting videos like this, I really appreciate. Cheers man !
Man I really wish I could find a barber like you 😭 I live in Boston and go to the absolute cheapest barber I can find which is $30 a cut. He's a great guy, but the cut is never consistent, it always looks different, and he can't really get the cut right no matter how much I explain what I want or how many pictures I show him. I also don't know much about this stuff so I don't even know if my hair is capable of the hairstyles I find cool, I just wish I could find someone who'd take the time to analyze my hair and face features and help me find a cut that looks right on me. But I can't afford to go to every barber shop in Boston and pay $100+ for the fancy ones until I find one I like... Crazy how hard this stuff can be when it's such a crucial aspect of your appearance!
are you a diamond face shape? I think so...
What if i have curly dry hair and i want to let it grow like john snow hairstyle ? The akward phase looks more horrible then if you have straight hair 😅
2.5 inches to 3,usually
Why did you own 10? 😂 That's unhinged 😂
Unhinged indeed 😂 Half of them weren’t even considered for their actual potential as a real camera because I wasn’t looking for another camera when I bought them, I just got them as a stopgap for a video project and then sold them when the project was over. I guess technically the other half I owned were only OWNED by me for a few days at a time between purchasing them on eBay and selling them to my salon owner. So technically I’ve owned ten, but realistically I’ve owned and hung on to one
You fucking talk too much I gave up going forward every single second.
love this
Thank you so much. Such a great video. I wanted to grow my hair out but never really knew what I was doing. For the last 3 months I've been getting a side fade and leaving the top. Which is not really helping me to grow it long
I like everything you said
What heat setting did you use?

Been looking for something like this for a while, succinct explanation and the why/how. Thanks my dude!
🤝
This was and is my only first dSLR I bought back in 2007 and I STILL use this camera occasionally for macro photography
Pentax just launched a very basic film camera (Pentax 17) which has some toy camera like features .... for $550 !!!! I just bought my 2nd 5D for $200. There is no area where the Pentax film camera will produce a better image than the 5D. I can't believe these 5D cameras aren't just snapped up at this insane price. I really have to stop myself from buying all of them, because fairly soon the film hipsters will discover them, and they'll be $1,000.
You looked much better with the center part. With very little or no product whatsoever.
You saving me for my prom bro Ty 🎉
Incredible advice.
Dude if you live in the Midwest. You’re FKED when it comes to finding a good stylist. Like a comment here said before, all they know what to do is Crew cuts and under cuts
the only thing that really sucks is the battery life is bad.
peso pluma hair cut but with pretty face
Looks sick, great job!
I mainly watch hairtube for inspiration these days, not learning so much. Not that I know everything, but haircut tutorials are all the same, rehashing the same old "nuggets" I've seen thousands of times. ADH is the only channel where I learn something I didn't know every time. Thanks Andrew, I've learnt alot from you over the years.
I appreciate your videos a lot, but some unsolicited constructive criticism is that they'd land a lot better if you presented yourself more confidently and with less self-deprecation. If you do that I genuinely think you could go from good to great as a channel.
Side note, I think this hairstyle looks great on you
I need this guy to cut my hair
Is this back in style?
At least where I work, yes very much. I do this like 3-5 times a day for 18-30 year olds
@@andrewdoeshair dang I saw you were moving to Tennessee. Wish you were moving closer to the coast of North Carolina. Got any recommendations out this way near Wilmington??? Thanks for your channel. It’s awesome.
Wow, I feel like I had to learn it the hard way lol slow learner but after 10 years I finally started to pick up 😅
ADH Dry is by far the best product I’ve used since Redken Rough Clay was discontinued (the “new” version you can get at some sites isn’t anywhere near the same 😒). Thank you so much for this product. Is there any chance you’ll ever change the scent, or offer a variety of scents? The only complaint I have is the current scent. It’s not awful, just not my cup of tea
To hear someone talk about my 6d so many years later is music to my ears. I’m not a professional photographer but have an EF85 1.8 stuck to it for every occasion and it’s makes me look like a pro every time with people at events couples with Canon Connect it’s still worth taking with me even with all these cell phone cameras around. Thank you
Still have my 6D and it's great! Watching this video on the exact moment, considering to shoot some projects with my 6D 🔥
What if I have a cheap hair dryer that doesn't have that attachment to make the air come out in a "line" bit instead it just comes out in a circle? 😅
Concentrator helps you to focus heat at the roots without burning the scalp.
@@andrewdoeshair Man I'm just getting started on this whole styling thing. I'm so glad I found your channel, though I wish I had 10 years ago lmao I will be buying your products and following every guide 😎 Thanks so much for the awesome content!
Need more lesson from You Brother! <3 Thanks much for sharing! <3
You would LOVE the 1Dx Mark II
I agree.6D is a phenomenal camera.
the 6d has canon colors, the r6 doesn't
Agreed. I wasn’t looking at images much during this comparison but later found that the 6D has way nicer colors- more stylized and attractive. I rarely grab my R6 for photos anymore and instead reach for my 5D classic or 6D. I just keep the R6 around for when I need a fast burst rate or a flippy screen.
This was the best video
I jumped on the bandwagon and bought one for $140,within a couple of days I bent a CF card pin and had to send it off for repair ($143). I tried to wait but I was dying to try the camera out so I got another one for $127 and really liked the way it operates.Coming from a film background,it was a lot more familiar.I am now REALLY CAREFUL when messing with the CF card.So now the other one is repaired and serviced,I have two.......................................................
However, the entry-level and semipro bodies tend to fail much earlier than their rated shutter life. Various components start giving trouble. The shutter button and top wheel are prone to early breakdown and need replacement as per my experience. It happened to my 40D and 50D. The 70D had other issues mainly; it ceases to function if the video option is used frequently . These issues are non-existent on my pro bodies i.e., 1DIV, 5DII, 5DIII and 7D.
I bought one about 7 years ago for not a lot of money to get back into photography and yes its a good no nonsense camera. I got a few cheap old EF USM lenses and had a blast with it. It worked amazingly with a Canon EF 70-210MM F3.5 USM lens that I got on Ebay for like £50.I used it at showjumping events and got great results. I sold it on a few years back as I got a 6D and a 7D. Yeah its a good start.
Legend, gonna try this. Hair always falls flat when it gets a bit long
Awesome video! Great watch! Ever since watching this video 8 months ago. I now own 2 5D Classics! Great walk around camera! This camera truly brings you back to the basics. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for the feedback! You should check out the 40D as well. Very similar charm, but with a snappier response and a surprisingly fast burst rate. I got one for $40 and another for $60, and I’ve been enjoying them in cases where I want more reach with less size- like when I would have used the 5D with a 70-200mm lens instead I’ll grab the 40D with a 24-105 F4 or a 100mm F2 and it’s way more manageable to throw into my shoulder bag
my daughter has 4 head whorls. 3 at the top and 1 in front. I don't know why that much😅
What do you do when the hair on the top of your head is too thin to ever even think of trying to cover the cowlicks? I have about 4 or 5 of them - it's a nightmare. There's one we refer to as the epicenter - looks like an explosion and right below that is the great divide- where the hair on either side of this split, that takes up the entire back side of my head, grows in opposite directions!! Ugh
