Outstanding work my dude! You pointed out some details that I’ve missed for years. Hush will always hold a special place in my heart despite some of its shortcomings. I remember collecting those issues every month and reading them in my car before I even left the parking lot of my local shop. That’s how hot that book was at the time. And it’s totally fine to look back in retrospect at some of the narrative holes but for me, the total body of work outweighs those. The overall ride was a blast. Hush in my mind is iconic and one that any new Batman reader should read. As you said, at least once. ❤

I personally hate that it was revealed that Terry is Bruce's son, the idea of making an experiment to keep a Batman who takes care of Gotham when Bruce dies is amazing, but only if it fails, imagine if an experiment to preserve Batman only created a new villain, someone whose mind was messed up from childhood, and that the reality was that Batman is always going to be reborn out of necessity, if Terry didnt meet the real Batman he would become his own thing and being inspired by Bruce's legacy he tries doing it himself, tho he would commit many of Bruce's same mistakes due to the lack of a guidence.

I think it would have been better to let a Robin, more preferably Jason Todd, be the one who would be consumed by Venom because the dumb things Bruce does here would make more sense with Jason, a younger kid who would want to be stronger desperately. I can't see this happening to Bruce. Ever

I hate the term "Azbats" but l love and prefer the JPV version of Batman.

I guess I'm in the minority but I loved the JPV Batman (I find the term Azbats insulting). The costume was amazing (this version, the Knighrsend version less so) and the concept of the system was so cool (he could fight FYI this video and the Knightsend one both shortchange his combat abilities for some reason). I was disappointed in the direction Knightsend took him and was happy with the follow up series until the stupid human animal hybrid nonsense. I wish to this day to see the character and design return.

I’ll always be disappointed that the proposed animated series based on No Man’s Land by James Tucker and Mitch Watson was passed on. I feel the only way to do this story justice is by making it a show’s status quo, rather than a story arc to wrap up.

I like to point out terrys motivation to put on the suit is because of regret and disgust with himself. Back in the day he was with a bad crowd and was a pos but after jail time he actually started to think about what he was and what he did and in a way he never forgave himself. That's why he puts on the suit not to be a hero, not to be some ideal but to be a worthwhile human being again and redeem himself to his inner self. This is vastly different compared to bruce or any of the robins hence why he is so different. And even in the ending while ya it took waller talking some sense into him he did become batman but in a different way witch is a welcome site and even excepts bruce with all his faults.

Just the colors and designs of Robin are one of the main things that attracted me to Batman and I don't like when he is so non-present, especially Tim Drake and Dick Grayson God damn it, that joke at the end lol

I absolutely loved Batman Beyond. And I loved that they did it without ret-coning or screwing up the past of what we knew Batman to be and what he’s already been through. The Futuristic setting was awesome as well.

The idea of batman beyond is the passing of the torch. Bruce is batman and terry is also batman but the 2 are vastly different. It is the idea that the batman is a symbol and it depends on who wares the mask. and every batman will be different.

Y'know come to think of it, this could have been a good way to move Batman into a new status quo. Think about it, all of Gotham was destroyed, meaning Crime Alley, the Monarch Theater, and Wayne Manor were no more, they could have used that to force Batman to move on from his parents' death and renew his mission, still seeking justice for those who can't fight for themselves, but without having to relive that moment at every waking moment

This was the third comic I ever read, and when I finished it, I knew with 100% confidence that I did not like it.

No Man's land would make a great 2/3 season series.

I'm gonna admit, I don't think I have that big of an issue with the art style change or some of the more "weird" stories with The New Adventures of Batman that most people have (granted I also didn't get to fully grow up with that season of the show aside from catching a couple episodes of the prior seasons, granted my track record with being able to watch anything Timm DCAU was spotty at best), but I feel like the only blemish the show TRULY had in the long run was trying to make its versions of Bruce and Barb romantic interests. While I'm not opposed to the idea in general (at least when you go back to the fact Barb was originally around Bruce's age in the comics), trying to transplant that relationship onto who was in canon basically the ex of his step son (and would be continually depicted as a teenage sidekick rather than an "around the same age" adult), it makes Bruce come off as kind of weird, creepy, and groomy. Granted, Bruce Timm has always advocated that it was MEANT to come off as a "not good" choice where it's one made by two adults (as it's meant to be interpreted via the Killing Joke adaptation, him noting that the music in the moment is meant to be "the tell"), the times where it's been depicted I don't think has been truly acknowledged by the characters themselves which makes us not sure how to feel because we aren't told how they feel about it. Not to mention in the long run of the DCAU specific canon, it amounts to nothing, it doesn't even play a factor into why Barb hangs up the cape. If anything in the DCAU canon, it comes off more like it was a mutual breakup. Like at the very least it would have been nice to know if the characters realized it was a mistake, either by outright saying it was or Barb in Beyond talking about her time as Batgirl then at least hinting that things "feeling awkward" after the event.

Very good video. I think it'd be interesting if people who did the two-part TDKR film adapted the follow-up by incorporating its stronger elements and severely tweaking the flaws, sometimes in a self aware way. Casting wise, you could have Peter Weller, Ariel Winter (as Carrie Kelly's Robin), Mark Valley and Robin Atkin Downes reprising their roles. As an added bonus, Jeffrey Combs may reprise his role as The Question from Justice League Unlimited. He is impeccable in that part after all.
