When you think of the style and furniture of the 50s, we can go two ways. 50s trad furniture and decor is what we see here. The other style is mid century modern , highly influenced by Scandanavian designers.

You are 100% correct, in Australia we never swapped hands, that is purely AMerican. This is how I remember it too. Yes and the spoon and fork desert also, hold with the fork and scoop with the spoon. Also you NEVER left the table until you asked the head of the table "May I please be excused, you did not leave the table as a rule and always asked at the end of the meal.
