Hi my name is Lee and in September 2019 I discovered my passion for mountain biking, since then I have come a long way in physical fitness and skill but I am by no means a pro. To be honest this sport still terrifies me and I have a lot to learn.
With this channel I intend to post videos of my journey from here on out, everything from epic rides to attempting my own maintenance and repairs.
If what you're after is professional advice then I'm not your guy however if you want to hang out and laugh at my bad riding and maintenance skills then stick around!
I have loads to learn, many places to see and ride, hopefully I'll make some awesome friends and create epic memories along the way.

Awesome trail for a group with mixed experiences. No surprises but it’s fun to go fast in if you want to.
That secret rock garden is by the leap of faith. Its not too hard
Been over there today the climbs are shocking! Pure energy zapping so much respect for those that went round 8 times!
I completely agree, you have to be an absolute machine to race a full XCO there
👍👍👍😎looks bloody hard that, i really want to try this place but not in peak fit condition, could i do it slowly to try and get back some kind of fitness in me ?
Definitely, this is where I initially built up my fitness
Thanks 👍🏼
Awesome video neil👌
Whos Neil? lol
Good work Lee, I know these runs well from when I lived in Benfleet, I was up there every weekend. Are all the features open now or are some still closed off?
Not sure its been a long time since I've ridden here
Great to see some Hadleigh content on youtube - production quality and fellow bossnut rider make it even better
What bikes do you ride
I ride a Calibre Bossnut and Kirsty’s bike is a Calibre Shadownut
New to mtb and been going over there a lot as I live nearby, I enjoy it but damn the climbs absolutely kill me. Want to go try Danbury as it’s also not too far, is it a lot more fun there?
Danbury is definitely a lot more fun for a lot less effort but it is a completely different type of riding to Hadleigh, I recommend if you known someone that’s been there before to go with them and they can show you the trails there but if not then just take your time and learn the runs before going full speed, everything there is rideable for most average riders but can easily catch you out as well. East of England ambulance service are unfortunately regular visitors there
@@leemtb okay good to know! I’ll be sure to take a few chilled runs through and scope it out 👍🏼
Fun channel and cool intro!
Thank you 😊
Nice video quality, well edited.
Thanks
Took me so many tries to do the 3rd one, but like you say "they're terrifying until you do them." I knew I had done bigger drops, but I had a psychological block on that one, I think partly because the landing is totally blind when you are sat at the top thinking about it. The number of times I pushed off and then steered off to the 2nd drop.
🤙🏼
brilliant kirsty. now you can show me. well done lee on your great videoing skills x
Thank you 😊
Nice riding kirsty Took me a fair few more than 5 attempts before i did it Lee was there about 2 hours building up to it 😉 Good riding and your smashing it👍👍
Thank you ☺️ to be fair this has been a year and half in the making 😂
looks great what editing kit do you use
Thanks, I use a mixture of Adobe premiere pro and after effects
Some tight turns for beginners
They are tight when doing them at the speed I did but when taking a leisurely pace they are very beginner friendly
Nice edit, looks great man
Thanks
Wow! How long has it been?
Too long, I can't wait to get back out and film again
Nice session mate, are you using helmet cam or chest?
I had the camera mounted to my chin guard on my full face. As I only use a hero 7 black this helps smooth out the footage massively
@@leemtb since I got my new camera I have not been able to get the angle right with the chest mount…. I’m going to install some thing on my helmet soon. Looks good 🤙
@@mtbridersanonymous9152 when I do use the chest mount I tend to mount the camera upside down and angled about 45 degrees so when you’re standing up off the bike it’s pointing up to the sky. Try that and see if it’s any good for you, I prefer the chest mount view but love the smoothness that comes with the helmet mount
i have ridden this a few times now, and hate the climbs. I ride through the downs first to get there and never doen a complete loop, just separate sections. what bike are you doing it on?
I ride a 2020 Calibre Bossnut at the minute. Takes time to be able to do complete laps at Hadleigh because it is so tiring
@@leemtb I only live local and do like it over at Hadleigh, but have to agree it is a lot of effort for not a great deal of reward/fun
i think the jump she was trying wasnt a good one to learn on, i think thats the kind of jump u need to bunny hop on, maybe try a bigger table
not longer, just taller*
Awesome edit, this is a great production! Nice riding also 🤙
Thanks 😊
Looks like fun place. Cool video, keep up the good work you two.

Hi Lee, was this today? I normally go there on a Saturday but had a lazy day. Gutted if it was might have bumped into you. Hope you had a good time there.
No it was yesterday, I never get a video out the same day as I’m normally exhausted from riding lol might catch you there next time 👊
It's different to our beloved Hadleigh, isn't it? Chicksands is more technical and downhill.
@@michaeljacobs8449 definitely, my only gripe is the trails aren't long enough, you're done in 30 seconds then it's another push up, takes me longer than that to find my flow but still, they're a good 30 seconds i suppose lol
nice clip 🙃
Thanks 😊
nice video 💪
Great video mate

Good video mate. Loving the fact you are honest and not pretending to be mustard! I'm looking to go to bpw next month, I'm nothing special on a bike just love it and will probably stick to the blue's. Is it as good as I hope??

Ear worm? Lol
@@leemtb Have you not heard that phrase? My bad - it's when someone reminds you of a song and it gets stuck in your head lol
@@dday-does-stuff haha sorry about that. I'm not entirely happy with the audio on this video as we were using new mics for the first time so it wasn't quite right and I thought I had missed something really bad you had picked up on lol
I prefer drops over jumps any day great video.
I like both, dropping is certainly an important skill to have in the bag, it’s got me out of trouble so many times when running in to a drop on a blind trail run
Nice one! Think I saw you guys the other week when I was last there... Take it easy, injuries suck especially repeating the same one!
Oh nice, be sure to say hello next time! Yeah it’s frustrating having an injury like this, I can ride without any problems but if I come off I can be back to square one
@@leemtb I'll be sure to say hi! 🙂
The weekend mountainbiker borught me her, greetings from Austria! That looks loke an awsome place to ride!
Well done, great vid
Thanks
Best of luck with your injury, hopefully soon it will be back to normal.
Fingers crossed, just waiting for the hospital to actually give me a date for my surgery
Nice, getting a bike with a shorter chain stay helped me the most when learning to jump. Keep up the great work!
I tried that with her, we bought a dirt jumper but she doesn’t get on with it very well
@@leemtb yeah, it took me months to feel confident on mine.
@@Gehajjs62727 me to I hated it in the beginning but now I am used to it I love it, it’s so good to jump with!
@@leemtb The bigger your bike and the more suspension you have, the easier it feels to jump in the beginning. If you have a dirt- or bmx bike, it's much more responsive to every movement you make. More fun in the end for me, but it doesn't forgive mistakes. I think, it's a good idea to build up confidence with a more forgiving setup before getting used to a small dirt bike. Nice vid and a very cool park indeed!
Nice one Kirsty Finally got someone decent to ride with😜 Keep up the good work and cant wait to get out with us all again
Thanks Tony! I will try and let you all keep up with me 🤣
Kirsty is going to be the best rider in the group before long!! 🤙🤙
Yeah she will! She is progressing so fast it’s ridiculous lol
😝 you guys will have trouble keeping up 🤣
Man those trails look fun. Looks like a great place to practice also
It really is a great place to build up those jumping skills
I’m thinking of doing triple trouble A line at some point. Have you got any suggestions or tips before I attempt it?
Yes, first things first, stand at the top of it with your bike and just roll it slowly over the edge to check whether or not your chain ring will strike the top rock. If it clears it then you’re good to go. Also don’t do this alone, make sure you have someone with you just in case. I recommend for your first go just roll the front wheel off the top slowly. As the nose drops get back over your rear wheel, keep your heels down and drive your legs into the pedals as the back wheel comes off of the top because as it drops there is a tendency for feet to come off pedals. Do not touch your brakes at all once your front wheel leaves the top rock until you have cleared the feature completely. Once you have done it once you’ll realise it’s actually quite a nice smooth feature and you can then safely start to hit it faster each time. Good luck and let me know how you get on
Thanks for the advice :) I am going on Saturday so I will let you know how I get on
I looked over the edge for a while but then decided to bottle it. I will try to gain confidence and then I will be able to attempt it. Thanks for the advice :)
Haha no worries, my best advice would be don’t do it until you go there and know you absolutely want to do it! You must fully commit when doing it, well done for having a look though, I recommend you do this every time you go, even when you know you’re not going to do it. The more you look at it the smaller it will seem
Ok i will do :)
Nice video. When I used to live that way I would visit a few times a year. Only ever managed 4 laps in one go. Have no idea how the pros managed 8 laps in a couple of hours. Mental
4 laps in one go is mega! I could only do one before collapsing lol 😂
Good on you Lee. I would luv to go and do this as would be big achievement. Unfortunately no1 to go with as I'm a lone rider.
When the lockdown ends and Hadleigh park reopens the trails you should get down there on a Thursday morning at 10am because there is a group ride every week, people of all ages and abilities. It’s a really great way to meet some like minded people.
Good work, I used to do that many times when I lived in Benfleet, its a lot harder than people think and the camera never does the inclines justice, there are some tuff climbs. I'll be back when we are allowed to travel as I live in London now so not many trails..
All the trails here have been closed for the time being because the bad weather has eroded them away and now they’re dangerous to ride. The park are supposed to be repairing them but god knows how long that’ll be
@@leemtb Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick to Epping for a while.
Nice training area 👍🏻 I love teaching people new skills🤘🏻
Same here I just struggle with explaining how I do what I’m trying to teach because I find most things I don’t actually think about what I’m doing, I just do it lol
@@leemtb totally understand that LOL
Go get qualified, you teach well.
Thanks, I’m not sure that I’m that good, I struggle to articulate what I mean sometimes but on this occasion it worked and Kirsty can do drop offs really well now. I hope this video helped you as well
Nice one! My wife is at about a similar level to Kirsty so we are taking it slowly and learning the basics. Good fun though!
That’s awesome, it’s great to share a hobby with your other half. Gives you more time for both your hobby and your partner so it’s a win win!
Nice video bud, I am a beginner and love this kind of videos which are not done by a pro. Subbed and liked. Keep shredding bud. Like your TLD lid.
Thanks, we all have to start somewhere and I also find watching average riders to be more motivational than watching the pros all the time.
