Lots Of "New" Fish For The Indoor Koi Pond
I got three of the same from a lake in southeast PA. Thought they were Madtoms but studying the fins, I’m pretty certain they are young bullhead catfish. And they eat like crazy.
Any chance anybody knows if this would hold the bottom seal of a 60 gallon long tank? Mine has sprung a leak at the whole bottom seal on both like the back side and the front side just little beads of water coming out I've used the silicone 1 to fix my 35 gallon But it's a tall tank and the leak was just tiny on the corner up near the top It's held for 2 years but I mean there's not really that much water pressure on it I'm just really worried that I'm going to reseal this whole bottom get all the water back in it just for it to start leaking again And I know just cuz it holds the water pressure from just like me testing doesn't mean it's going to hold all of the gallons once they're in there I wasn't nervous until I seen on a loctite they say not to use it on aquariums larger than 30 gallons And I mean if both products are just 100% silicone there shouldn't really be no like limit difference right?
My tank water was clear with no algae problems. I wanted to try one to see if it would make my water any clearer and I was not disappointed. My tank water is now ultra clear almost like the fish are floating in air. I absolutely love the results it has made. They work great so I don't agree with you that it's a gimmick.
GlUTES are THE muscle for us aging folks... Other things have a tendency to sag.... Whereas GLUTES don't do the sag thing so much IF we exercise them
So far, the black gold fish and black angel fish are my favorites of your's!
hey Dan, when you get a chance, check your email....👍👍
Thanks for doing this experiment!
I have to agree on your take on 'Nitrate Panic ' as I call it. I remember all the heated arguments on Facebook fish forums where all these self-appointed marine biologists would Bash out their theories on which is the best test kit.. how to test.. when to test.. how long to shake the vile.. So glad I left Facebook and shut down that rubbish account.
I love his white whiskers
Hey Dan ! You still got your cuckoo catfish? We talked a while back. I went and got 5 more and 6 hillstream loaches. They are in quarantine now. Doing great. Feeding them in the darkness and a crushed community blend I made.
I don't know anything about identifying catfish but they might have a juvenile and adult coloring but a cool fish to keep.
I believe it is a black bullhead catfish. They are aggressive. Kept 1 with a bunch of huge creek chubs bigger than it and he killed every last one of them
I did check out the replay..It was ok. I'm about to get shit of a Red Seve rum. Damn thing is rotavating my gravel and making mountains out of it . I've had a lot of Severums over the years but never had this behaviour.
Dans the man. Been watching you for a year now. Great guy ❤
I have 4 but only see one. I found one hiding and the other im not sure. Is this normal?
Yes, they tend to hide a lot.
I watched this because I have a lot of worms on my tank glass. The worms I have are really small and white but I don’t see a pointy head. I don’t know if they are detritus or not but I have had my light on and they have not gone down into my substrate. Also I have not put any food in my tank and I just added 8 cherry shrimp 2 days ago. There is no smell. And my tank has been set up for a week, so if anyone knows let me know
use a magnifying glass or zoom in on a clear photo to get a better look.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly I will try that but I don’t think they are anything to worry about
Looks a young black bullhead catfish.
Hey brother love your channel . I have a quick question kinda off topic of this video but I only clean the sides and front of my glass in my tank I don’t bother with the back I just let it go wild do you do the same ? Is it bad to not clean the back panel ?
Thts a cool cat it almost looks like a north american bullhead
Lovely gorgeous very relaxing I can hardly keep awake now. More videos like this please are very necessary.😊
Yeah looks about right for a mad Tom catfish.😅 Eastern and northern America. So I would say that's what you probably have there.
Splendid I love catfish. I recently bought a hoplo catfish. Was the only one left in the shop .. about 3/4 of an inch long. A couldn't put in my cichlid tank because it would have got gobbled up. So I stuck it in one of the Endlers tanks to hopefully grow out.
Lol, his appetite seems to be almost competing with the striped Raphaels appetite. I hope that it's a madtom catfish that would look really cool in one of your main tanks.
Thank you my friend for your beautiful sharing and stay healthy
He's a small fellow.
Hey I think I figured it out Dan check out white catfish they're in your area and have the long white barrels under the chin
White catfish have deeply forked tails.
Thats a black bullhead I believe
Thanks for the info. Very reassuring for those of us who weren't quite sure.
Very cool. Cant wait to follow its progress.
Madtoms do stay very small (for a catfish)
Crazy whiskers! ❤love it ❤
I love those
This is awesome. How many species are in MD?
There's 2 that are native, but there could be some invasives too. I'm not sure.
you have any other wilds in your fish room or is the catfish the first wild caught?
The White Sucker fish and Gambusia are the last of my 'native" fish. I've had loads of them over the years.
I am glad he is out and eating. He looks good
I like him too. Looking forward to his growth
im getting ready to add some sculpins to my native tanks. theres tons of them in the creek in my front yard. so far i have 2 creek chubs, a bluegill 3 crawdads and one other i havent identified yet. i think its a rock bass.hes more of a flat type fish and prooving to be a bad ass when it comes to eating small minnows. lol. just waiting for my net to be delivered. i have a snail problem in the one tank so i think the sculpin will fix that problem fast. i hope lol
I was never able to keep sculpins alive, so good luck. I hope you have better success than I did.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly i dont think they are much differant the a pleco. i would imagine they eat the same things. the sculpin here in my stream are so pretty.i plan to do a video on adding them to my native tank
Sir I have a planted 10g and have 3 guppies,1homey gourami,2 platies,2 otocinclus and I have maybe more guppies on the way is that overstocked?
I'd say your at the limit. Keep on top of maintenance and you should be ok.
What about the tap water you put in it
Ahh, people who speak confidently of things they don't have a clue about. Such fun.
What was I wrong about?
You [i]can[i] get a system large enough to desalinate water for several dozen people's needs. However, those systems are expensive to purchase, operate, and maintain. They are typically only used on ships that do not have consistent engine loading. (In case of consistent engine loading, flash evaporation distilation makes a lot more sense.) But if you need to desalinate water, and can't depend on a steady source of waste heat, you go with RO desalination. Special purpose ships mostly, such as navy, research, cable layers, hydrographic survey, offshore supply, etc. Cargo shipping and cruise liners will go with the much simpler waste heat to boil seawater under near vacuum conditions, then condense and collect. RO system maintenance is a pain in the backside as well. High pressure systems have larger stresses, so are more prone to failure, and the membranes need special cleaning, and spares need be kept in a preservative solution to prevent microbial growth across the membranes. TMI commenting ramble for engagemometrics boost. Cheers!
Hey, I stumbled on your channel looking for alternatives or replacements for using equilibrium to mineralize the essentially distilled coming out of my tap. Are you using aragonite and eggshells for your goldfish? I'm learning goldfish, and keep endler guppy hybrids with mystery snails in my main tank. I have been using aragonite, eggshells as treats, and adding equilibrium and alkaline buffer for water changes. Decided to change up to potassium bicarbonate for buffer, so the plants can get a little extra potassium. But I don't really have a handy way of getting lots of minerals in the water affordably. Can I ask what water parameters you keep your goldfish in? The fancy ones look goofy, short and chubby. Hehehe, cute. I have 3 comets on my patio, and a shubunkin in quarantine at the moment.
I usually put crushed coral in a mesh bag in the filter.
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly rock n roll, buddy! Thanks for the reply.
Thanks, Dan Really appreciate the clarity of your explanation.
Magic Sponge 😂
How often would you say you should gravel vac when you have a UGF filter?
You shouldn't have to at all.
Thank you my friend for your beautiful sharing and stay healthy
I have floating wood in my tank. Will the crabs be able to get on it, or do i need wood or rocks for them to reach it?
I'd add rocks.
That would be cool if it was a madtom catfish of some kind
