Hey Dan, I have had a figure 8 puffer for about 10 years now (a bit smaller than Butterbean) and have had to trim its teeth three times. I am always worried about the process, alike you. But you gotta do what you gotta do to see them eating ravenously again! Here is my process: 1) 5 drops of clove oil (mixed well) in a separate 1-gallon container, 2) place puffer in for approximately 1 minute or until it starts to "stall" (i.e., visibly drousy and fins slowing drastically), 3) use rubber gloves and pick up the puffer, 4) use finger to lower the jaw, 5) clip upper (and lower teeth, if necessary), 6) put them back into the tank and gently move back and forth in the water to get fresh water in their gills. Done. Should recover within 30 minutes. A good trick I learned to boost the recovery process is to not wait until they go belly up in the clove tank (which some online forms recommend). But I like to feel that they are wiggling a little when I am trimming to know everything is OK. Again, too little time in the clove and they will start chomping at you! Its a perfect balance, and you really can only gauge it case by case.
Love your tanks man! I'd really love to see you just set up a tripod, get a good close up angle of some of these tanks, and put out a '3 hours of a relaxing planted aquarium' kind of video. I'd have it playing all the time in the background when reading or just wanting to relax
Does the tank 40 only have one angel? Because I'm looking into keeping angelfish but don't want any breeding since they get really aggressive towards tankmates. More like as a centerpiece fish.

So your 125 “Daryl” is set up like a peninsula tank. I wanna set a tank up like that in the future so I can view it from both sides

You can pull out butter bean with and clip his teeth with finger nail clippers, I dont know if you have to put them to sleep

Yes, I only keep one angel per tank for tose very reasons. I long ago got tired of the aggression and shuffling fish around to break it up.
