Mt Gambier, my birthplace. My uncle had the Shell servo in the main st and Nana worked at the Sussan shop, from memory. We moved away when I was 6 months old but went back there for every 2nd Christmas. I remember the Yahl cheese direct from the factory. My uncles farm. The massive softwood forests. Where my Dad used to work before I was born. We’d take the 280 odd mile journey in an EH station wagon from the Adelaide Hills to My Gambier. 5 kids 2 adults not a seatbelt in sight. I remember standing on the transmission tunnel in the back so I could see over the front seat or pile into the back and play with my matchbox cars. The journey took forever back then. Great memories.
All life pre internet was awesome, period.
Good old times 😊😊😊💪💪💪👍👍👍
Back when the old HR was a brand new car
Remember going to the Pizza Palace.
Glorious days, down under. I was five when we moved from Malaysia to NZ and a few years later, to Aus. It was gob-smacking culture shock, for me! Folks drank fresh full-cream milk, ordinary guys owned boats, breakfast was steak or chops, cars were huge with bench seats, fella's took their dog to the pub, ladies wore pointy brraahs... and I was in heaven! 😊
Excellent...
Simple day's, give me a time machine.
We are your time machine. Welcome aboard!
When Crayfish were just saltwater yabbies!! Great footage!!
Now they're called Lobsters. WTF?
Back in better times.
You could look at the Blue Lake at Mt. Gambia but that's all.
Mt "Gambier"!!!!
A 1967 HR Holden sedan, had one just the same, great cars. In the days where you could replace a water pump in under 1/2 an hour. Loved growing up in the 60's.
This was my first car. Once I put radial tyres on it (Dunlop SP40s) it drove like a dream. It was a good size, easy to drive, very reliable, I think petrol was bout 45cents a gallon (10cents a ltr). And yes I could do simple maintenance, like changing the alternator. I had it for 7 years and it never let me down.
I used to live in SA and Qld, then We drove my old HR down to Melbourne. It didn't miss a beat. Beautiful old car. I didn't want to sell it, but I needed to upgrade. 😂 But, growing up in the 60's and 70' was great! 😉👍 I miss the good old, bad old days! 😄👍 Blessings and kindest regards David from Melbourne. 🌏 🙄☝️
Bet you wished you had it now! Worth silly dollars
Me too, life was cleaner, there was innocence
Have a 1963 EH. Mint. We have a farm in the SE. Happy memories.

Great dramatic music. The film unit was certainly worth paying for.
all people ever did in the 60s was dance on the beach 😂
The Music is a cross between Stick Music and The Magnificent 7 hats of to NFSA - thankyou for a glimpse into yesteryear , cheers from upper Spencer Gulf 👌🇦🇺
Looks like 1967/ 68 ish. Couple of years before we came to Australia 1970..
Pity the Valley Lake wasn't the same these days
I love the music in this film. Unmistakably 1960s.
Stick Music meets the Magnificent 7
So do I
I can relate to this, shows how old I have become, seriously the filmography was very well done!
The beach party was like something out of an Elvis movie lol 😆
I am absolutely amazed by the quality of a local film from 56 years ago. Please tell me, has this video been digitally optimized, or is this the original film scan?
Hi - this is from a 4K overscan of a 35mm interpos component. Not optimised. Just graded. In fact presented here as compressed mp4 so actually lesser quality than source ProRes files. Thanks for asking.
Ahh those were the days! Love these old films.
As a child of this era i remember it well but did stop to realise how lucky i was to hsve it so good, it was just how it was then its only now i wish i had been able to absorb more of it and the essence than i did
You are dead right.
MCMLXVIII = 1968
I ride push bike weather permitting
Awesome 👏 video finally. And we can comment as well.
It sounded like Clive James doing the short narration near the start

She can’t say her mother’s name because she’s passed away, that’s their culture
Good 💪💪
What a brilliant woman with an inspiring story. Can’t believe I have never heard of her before now, a true unsung hero of this country.
They say she was also instrumentql in the 1967 referendum
Doing a history report and this comment was weirdly helpful... thanks for the hint!
if you look at the old video, about Australia, the Aboriginal tribes/indigenous people there are very similar to the Papuan and NTT tribes in Indonesia, in fact maybe we Indonesians are still related to the native people of the Australian continent, unfortunately their continent has been stolen, history has erased it all
Die Ureiwohner waren Provesionel.Die die Imigranten
Don't hunting crocodile. Because crocodile is a very very good guy
Shoot the crocodile with a rifle is 100% no balls behavior This guy is a coward. Acting like a kiddo I would like to see him in the water with the salty. You got on earth some pathetic humans being.
The authority should control the crocodile population.
