- From the Film Australia Collection. Made by the National Film Board 1953. Directed by Hugh McInnes. In this 1950s tourism promotional film Tasmania, set like a scenic tapestry in the Southern Ocean, has much to attract tourists from the mainland of Australia. Reminiscent of England in its cultivated fields, old architecture and sheltered rivers, industry too, has its place, in the mountain rivers and lakes, which provide the water for the Island’s great hydro electric systems. Fishing is a popular pastime, especially at the time of the year when the phenomenon known as the “Shannon Rise” occurs and there is trout for the taking in the waters of the Myeena Dam, on the Shannon River - one of the many lovely threads that runs through Tasmania’s scenic tapestry

Now tasmania has changed, not for the better
Seriously 😳 it changed that much?
@@danrobinson572 Don't listen to some people, change is what happens with time.
It has improved, from poor conditions in the past it is certainly getting better, and there are many ways to make it even better.
Tasmania has beautiful scenery beaches & mountains
I’m from America 🇺🇸 and can anyone from Australia 🇦🇺 just go to Tasmania and live or do you need a passport?
Tasmania is an Australian state. So if you are in another part of Australia already you can travel unrestricted, citizen or international tourist. You'll need to fly or get the ferry from the mainland though.
You can go to Tasmania from any part of Australia without a passport by air or by the spirit of Tasmania cruise with your car
Seems idyllic. All is not what it seems…Truganini.
