This short film is excellent. It has art film vibes.
Kinda reminds me of the terrifying safety adverts you would find on TV in the UK in the 70s and 80s, or in Ireland from the 70s to the 2000's. Ireland still shows weird ones to this day, but far less.
These types of adverts were traumatic to children, but probably for good purpose. The Drink driving ones I remember being especially bad!

I'm old enough to remember those ambulances! They seem way too small now, more like a hearse than a modern ambulance.
This was pretty daring and innovative for 1957. Maybe the Film Unit couldn't afford to stage a convincing car crash and somebody dreamed up this alternative? Still it's always great to see how we were in Oz back in the day.
    Thanks for uploading this.

Necessity the mother of invention. The Film Units were generally a very creative lot - often constrained by budget or officialdom. Thank you for your kind comments.

Hi Chris. We do hold several episodes but would be restricted by copyright at this point. ATN Seven owns that content.

@@NFSAFilms Oh that's a shame. What a pity that copyright prevents these classics from being viewed and destined to gather dust in archives.

Hi Robyn we didn't have any documentation on this film but sure enough our knowledgable viewers have answered it for us. R JK's comment above identifies him as John Bonney. He featured in many films and TV series.

Yes, he is John Bonney. Bonney was one of the early TEN 10 network personalities in the mid-1960s in Sydney.

The announcer in the film was London born actor and writer, John Bonney. He spent his career in TV and Theatre working in both England and Australia. At the time of this production it wasn't unusual for Australian announcers to put on an American accent to sound more exciting.
