The university college became a university in 1970. I did an Honours degree there from 1987 to 1990. It was great in 3rd and 4th year because the lecturers knew who you were. Lots of cheap booze at the Refectory too 😅 along with top artists like Hoodoo Gurus, Kate Ceberano etc.

No problems. May have some more names for you in a couple of weeks after a student-reunion-lunch with some of the people in the clip. For info, Joe Baker was my late Father, the inaugural lecturer at the Uni College (now James Cook University). He was also the QLD Rugby League #8 in 1959 when he was at UQ in Brisbane, before the family moved to Townsville at the end of 1960 .@@NFSAFilms

I was often feeling envious of students walking around the grounds of WA University while I drove past on my journey to yet another appointment as "a failing Life Assurance salesman".
Several years later, thanks to Gough Whitlam's NEAT Scheme, I was finally able to join them as a mature-age student. Thanks Gough for getting my life-changing career off to a good start.
