I know I'm late to the party. I'm curious as to how that sheeting from screwfix has worked with regard to keeping the cold out and equally (when the sun appears) keeping the loft cooler? Thanks. I'm just contemplating using that foam board which is quite expensive.

Hi Grant. Thank you for the tutorial on AnyRail. I can get close to the train driver's eye view, but my inability to excel at shoot-em-up video games means I still cannot achieve my aim. But thanks for trying.

When you mark out the helix sections, I am guessing that they are not true circles, as when they rise up, the ends which are initially matching, will separate and the ends will not exactly butt together. Perhaps your CAD tool allows you to produce a paper template (although a large printer would be required).

Great to see you back and making progress. I kept my subscription active from when you moved, hoping you would eventually return. I enjoyed the first series very much. Where do you find the money - it’s a very expensive hobby.

Hi Grant - Great to see you back mate. The unit on the wall above the worktop, is it just a heater and is there more of it on the outside of the garden room? Just love what you have done so far. Looking forward to the build after following you on the loft build. Think I might watch that again. Just great to see you posting videos again, brings back some memories. I started a layout two years ago after last having one in the 1970s, and got great enjoyment and inspiration watching your entire loft railway series, more or less all in one go. Looking forward to seeing how the garden summer house series goes.

i'm impressed by your energy - first the attic conversion and now the garden room layout. i'm in my 70's and i had half an eye on one of our children's bedrooms but they want their rooms kept as they remember them plus they come back every now and then ha-ha so, in the end, i resorted to n scale as i could move the board when i had to get out of the way without leaving too much evidence of trespassing.

Hi Grant. Both helixes and helices are correct. I have just updated to AnyRail version 6.53.0 and chosen the 3D view. How do you get it to show the train driver's POV moving around the track?

Hi Grant, Nice update, good to see you making some progress. Track plan looks pretty good. Quick question, have you ever thought about running the helix in the other direction? So on the scenic section it'd run upto that far wall. Yes you would lose a little bit of storage sidings but you'd gain like 3-4ft of scenic section and open up the entrance to the station on that right hand side and you could always model a village/town scene on abit of light insulation board to sit over the top of the helix as something else to model which would be light and easy to remove. Hi, I am 6 years late to this video but at this point it was looking great and what a layout. I will catch up now on the build to present day.

Wow what a great start. Just come across your video as I am at the same point (almost). I had a Velux window fitted but now I am thinking that two might be better one on each side of the pitched roof. As you say they do make such a difference. I am returning after 40+ years away from the craft so gathering as much info as I can as soooooooo many changes since my day, static grass! for one. Will trawl through your build videos now.

Find a busted headphone in a junk store and use the wire from it. It’s really fine.

Hi Grant. It's looking fantastic. You seem to have covered all the bases in terms of sufficient wall outlets, Internet access, insulation and air conditioning (does it warm the air, too?). Oh dear; did I see a crack in the left hand pane of the centre window? It sounds as though you are going to be tweaking (or totally revising) your track plan - exciting!

Hi Grant. How did you get version 7.2 of AnyRail? I have just checked for updates and have now got 6.50.2, which their website says is the latest version! Are you using a Mac whose version numbers are different to those for Windows?

Hi Grant. The usual answer to questions of this nature (when it is a matter of opinion) is that you usually already "know" the answer. As you have already pointed out, HO is a smaller scale. As you know, the problem lies in having HO and OO scale items in close proximity to each other on the layout where the difference stands out like the proverbial sore thumb. My personal advice is to stick with OO and only venture into HO if there really is no alternative. I too have obtained digital versions of the model instructions - but more commonly by downloading them from the manufacturer's website (where available). Sundela: it's no good people saying you shouldn't have used it - it's too late now. Just deal with the problems as best you can.

Hi Grant. A very useful video. Thanks for the heads-up on the cordless light. You mentioned that you had two copies of AnyRail running; did you just use Windows to display them one on top of the other? I too looked at advice on YT and replaced my purchase of 7/0.2 wire for the droppers for 16/0.2.

Looking good grant. I built my railway 4 foot high, like cheekytek did. This means there is a whole living area co existing underneath. Sofa, desk, log burner, workbench. Of course my boards aren't too wide where I don't need it to allow this to work. Double using space is good.
