looks great til you have an actual button band with layers of seam allowance interfering with the foot. how to compensate for that?
Did you know that when you push your presser foot lever when it is already raised... that it raises even higher? That works for me.
Thanks for showing this short in so many different fabrics!
You're welcome! You really get the idea of how versatile it can be. Happy sewing!
Great tutorial as always. I also always do two rows of gathering as it makes the gathering easier and more even.
100% agree!
I like it very much! I'll be looking into making one for myself. ❤
Enjoy! There are plenty more top options if you have the Extension Pack too! :)
Just purchased the older version but I’m excited to see the new and improved version. I did not cut the fabric yet so I’ll wait to see the newer release as it looks so yummie❤. Thanks for sharing the info😊
You are absolutely welcome! We hope every little bit helps ;)
What about the neck facing? Can I use the original or do I need to alter also?
You would need to alter it to match your new bodice. Simply use the new bodice to trace a new neck facing.
Beautiful fabric, I've downloaded the pattern and bought the same fabric...can't wait to make it.
I love these❤. Beautiful cut!
Thanks! We are so happy with how the pattern turned out!
Beautiful. What material did you use please. Is it a chintz cotton? Thank you
It is a gorgeous cotton sateen
Great tutorial!! So helpful
We look forward to making more!
Love your pattern styles. Unfortunately the ones I bought are for a b cup, which means I have to do an 10 inch fba which distorts the armhole too much. Such a shame...
Thanks for your feedback. I will pass it onto the team. What sewing pattern brands have you had success with?
@@StyleArcSewingPatterns sinclair and love notions
Thank you, I never would have figured this out with just the instructions in the pattern,
You're welcome! It will become easier each time you sew this pattern.
Hey the model is teaching the class! I love it!
Such a beautiful dress!
Love this dress! Can't wait to get sewing and finish so I can wear!
We look forward to seeing your version!
Thank you for this tutorial. It was very clear and gave me more confidence to tackle this pattern!!
Love to hear this. We hope you have fun sewing up your version.
Please do more sewalongs as they are so useful and i'm more likely to buy patterns that have video instructions. Thank you!!!
I agree, visual is always better for me.
Yes. I was thinking the same thing. I want this pattern because the sew along is so helpful. Makes it look super easy. Thank you for this!
We look forward to making more especially with the positive feedback
@@debtaylor2387 thanks for the feedback
@@pjacksreads536 thanks for letting us know!
Hi Style Arc! I have a question about the new extension pack. Basically, I’d like to make the dress with the v-neck bodice, grown on sleeve, and the less-volume skirt. Do I still need to also buy the original dress pattern in order to make this combination? Or does the new extension pack contain all the necessary pattern pieces? Thanks a million! 🙌🏻
They are all available in the Sydney Extension Pack
I can do it. I can do it.
That is amazing!
Thanks for the great video. Could you make a video to show how to fit the collar on The Albie shirt please? I'm currently struggling with this.
Gorgeous simple, but flattering at the same time, I absolutely have to get this pattern and give it a go. Thanks for the clear instructions.
Thank you and happy sewing!
Perfect 🥰 I was just about to try this. It's so helpful to watch it being done. Thank you.
Thanks for your kind feedback
Are the Style Arc stickers to define right and wrong side of the fabric??? That’s genius 🤦🏼♀️ why didn’t I think of that sooner!!
Yes! A great tip to use at home. We will aim to use prints in the future so that it is easier to see.
NO SOUND
This is a short/reel made for Instagram which is usually backed with music.
Love it ❤ thank you for the tutorial. What fabric did you use and would linen work? And would pockets ruin the look? Sorry for all the questions, I'm not an experienced sewer 🙈
We recommend using fabric with a nice drape. For example: silk, rayon or charmeuse. Linen would create a different look as it is a bit more stiff.
Firstly, thank you for providing a tutorial - much appreciated! However, I do agree that the written instructions are much too small, and I also would prefer some spoken instruction as opposed to the musical background. I think using a stronger coloured fabric would make identifying the right and wrong side a bit easier but overall, this tutorial was very useful.
Thanks for the tips!
beautifully demonstrated, thank you so very much. I'm now confident I can sew the dress and do a great job.
Thanks for your feedback!
I, too, unhappy with the lack of written instructions. Different construction. Finally found this video which covers the biggest of the issues. Would appreciate a more thorough written or video start to finish.
Thanks for the feedback. This is an older pattern. We are updating construction notes and working on newer tutorials. All a work in progress.
perfect- thanks for the visual.
My pleasure!
That font is so tiny!!!!
Thanks for your feedback
is any of this supposed to make sense? I wish I had never spent money on your patterns. even your beginner stuff isn't beginner most sewers haven't taken classes so these terms mean nothing. lame af.
Thank you for the tutorials on how to put a yolk on back of a blouse or jacket, but I still have a hard time but I am learning something new. I’ve been sewing for a long time but still there is always something to learn. Thank you again.
You are so welcome! It is a little tricky. Hard to get perfect especially depending on the weight of your fabric.
First time seeing this. I have the Elani Tunic pattern. Do you have a tutorial for it? Thanks.
Unfortunately as Elani is an older style, we don't have a tutorial for this pattern. Please feel free to email us at enquiries@stylearc.com.au if you're having trouble while sewing :)
@@StyleArcSewingPatterns thanks much will do
Very good! This trend line makes me curious.
It would really help if you didn’t put small white writing against a yellow background.
Thanks for the feedback. We are working on providing voiceovers and subtitles for future tutorials instead.
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
It helped a lot. Thnx so much
Glad it helped!
I am having alot of trouble getting the interfaced hem to lay flat. I see you didn't follow instructions to interface the hem and aren't having those issues. Suggest you amend the pattern instructions!
The hem facings in the video are interfaced, it's just tricky to see as it is white interfacing on white fabric. Please feel free to email us at enquries@stylearc.com.au and we can help you out there :)
Don’t believe the cranks. Super helpful tutorial - just what I needed before I start cutting. Thanks!
Thank you! Happy sewing :)
Which program are you using to visualize these layers. I am unable to do so using preview on my Mac.
Adobe Acrobat. Layers are only available on new release and updated patterns. Check out this link to know what patterns are currently layered. They will all eventually be but it is a work in progress! www.stylearc.com/shop-category/pdf-sewing-patterns/pdf-layered-patterns/
This is an excellent demo. Thx
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial thank you for that
Thanks so much for your feedback!
Thank you..getting ready to making that dress
We hope you had fun sewing up your version!
Love, love…the tutorials. I specifically look for your video clips as I have learnt heaps from them. Don’t get me wrong…I have been sewing for several years and I have had ‘one on one’ tuition with a fairly professional seamstress but I do like to watch the videos and then ‘sew and stop’ as I go…thank you for sharing. What’s next?
Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes it is easier to have a visual. Especially when there are multiple ways that you can approach some skills
I have to agree with others that the elevator music is annoying; I too prefer spoken instructions during a tutorial. Having said that, I will definitely keep this tutorial at hand on my laptop when I start sewing this dress. Seeing the steps is extremely useful for me, especially since I am not a native speaker and do not necessarily know all the sewing jargon in English.
We have been discussing the feedback in the office. We are working on adding a voiceover that can be converted to subtitles. We will improve with each video with all of your constructive feedback
Beautiful dress and awesome tutorial. Waiting for my pattern so that I can make this beauty! Thanks for sharing😊❤
Thanks for the positive feedback! We can't wait to see it!
Excellent tutorial and beautiful pattern, I love it❤❤❤. Waiting for my Queenie Woven dress pattern to arrive and just noticed this pattern. Oh well, I’ll need to make another order. Thank you for sharing😊.
We hope you had fun sewing your Queenie!
Beautiful!
Thanks for your feedback
I find it interesting that the sewer puts the bulk of the garment under the arch of the sewing machine instead of letting the bulk lie on the table and flow freely uncreased and uncrumpled.
This was just to show sewing the facing from the centre front to the back on each side to obtain a nice point at the V. I usually would have flipped the garment but wanted to have the facing upwards to make it easier to see! Sorry if it looked strange!!
I wondered if it had to do with being right or left handed 😂 I always have my fabric to the left of the machine and thought I might be doing something wrong. The music is quite soothing? Fantastic tutorial, very clear. Thank you😊
Gorgeous
Appreciate that!
I think just by watching the tutorial is great but didn’t like the music
Kindly noted
