Como Knit Top Tutorial

  • This sewing tutorial takes you through Style Arc's Como Knit Top, focusing on the construction of the neckline and shoulder seam. Our Como Knit top has a flattering neckline that hugs the back of the neck with the little stand. The pattern was designed to have some shape over the body but not too much and the shoulder line is extended to cover the shoulders. We hope this tutorial will entice others to give it a go! This pattern will be available as a bundle with the Como Knit Cardi and Como Knit Pant!

    I have just bought this pattern as well and was not comfortable with the lack of instructions....searched pattern review 51 pages of tops and there is not one of these tops on there. Very grateful for this tutorial. Thanks a million!!

    I, too, unhappy with the lack of written instructions. Different construction. Finally found this video which covers the biggest of the issues. Would appreciate a more thorough written or video start to finish.

      Thanks for the feedback. This is an older pattern. We are updating construction notes and working on newer tutorials. All a work in progress.

      I love this pattern and have sewn it up quite a few times now. It‘s really fun trying it out with different fabrics. It worked very well on wovens cut on the bias too! (And I‘m a plus size so this was really great!)

    I, too love watching your videos, I simply love how all the garments are sewn together (it reminds me of the Islander Sewing System). I will be putting this pattern on my 'wishlist'. Is there any chance that you can do a tutorial of the Corina knit dress please?

    This tutorial was great! I’m all done but the hem…..But, please help me figure out what to do with those tails at the sleeve, and where the instruction sat to “bar tack” the sleeves! I love the shirt but the bottom of the sleeves look weird, and I’m pretty dang sure it has everything to do with those tiny v-shaped strips, me not knowing what to do with them, and where to bar tack I wanted to wear it to lunch today so I could grant a little..ha..but I need some help. Thanks to anyone for some advice/instruction!

    Love watching these tutorials. I was quite curious that you did not iron the seam each time after sewing?

    Great work, thanks Cheryl - keep them coming. One question I have tho, have you sewed that up with a regular stitch? Won’t the stitches pop when stretched - I always thought you had to sew a knit with a zig zag or overlocker?

    • @ruthe8095
      @ruthe8095 Před 6 lety

      This style is a little looser so I think straight stitch is fine in this instance.

    • @StyleArcSewingPatterns
      @StyleArcSewingPatterns  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Kerrie, sorry for the late reply! We have used a poly thread and slightly stretched the knit as we sewed to avoid cracked stitches... we then overlock the seams :)

    Would it be possible to make it without the double front?

    Did you use a straight stitch ?
    Was it iron on stabiliser tape ?
    Thanks , about to make a knit top.
    Your machine is so smooth and quiet 🤫

    I thought one had to use a zig zag stitch for knits. No?

    The background noise drowns out the instructions

      @@StyleArcSewingPatterns I don't hear it as the machines. It sounds like a fan or furnace or something like that.
