    Very nice! Particularly like the way you sew your pockets, and the hem facing. I will lengthen the pattern and add a tie belt. Sadly my legs aren’t that great, but I know I will enjoy wearing this dress, very feminine. Thank you❤

    Fantastic tutorial; very clear and easy to follow. I wonder if you would do one for the Andrea Woven Vest? I started it and was unable to figure out all the instructions. Thanks in advance!

    Love, love…the tutorials. I specifically look for your video clips as I have learnt heaps from them. Don’t get me wrong…I have been sewing for several years and I have had ‘one on one’ tuition with a fairly professional seamstress but I do like to watch the videos and then ‘sew and stop’ as I go…thank you for sharing. What’s next?

    Are the Style Arc stickers to define right and wrong side of the fabric??? That’s genius 🤦🏼‍♀️ why didn’t I think of that sooner!!

    Firstly, thank you for providing a tutorial - much appreciated!
    However, I do agree that the written instructions are much too small, and I also would prefer some spoken instruction as opposed to the musical background. I think using a stronger coloured fabric would make identifying the right and wrong side a bit easier but overall, this tutorial was very useful.

  • @marlenede-abel1336
    @marlenede-abel1336 Před 4 měsíci

    I tend to agree with the first comment - the writing instructions are small. Apart from that clear instructions but just wondering about the seam allowance as I have sewn some Style Arc patterns and from memory the allowance was 1cm. Is this the new seam allowance for new patterns?

    • @StyleArcSewingPatterns
      @StyleArcSewingPatterns  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your feedback. The seam allowance is 1cm throughout (except for the facing which is sewn with a 6mm seam allowance) and the centre front and back seams which are sewn with a 1.5cm seam allowance so that a 1cm topstitching can be sewn on top.

    • @StyleArcSewingPatterns
      @StyleArcSewingPatterns  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you for your feedback. The seam allowance for the centre back and centre front seams only is 1.5cm. This is to allow for a 1cm topstich to be sewn on each side of the seam and for the seam allowance to be caught in this topstitching so that it sits flat. All other seam allowances are 1cm or 6mm (at the neckline).

    I have to agree with others that the elevator music is annoying; I too prefer spoken instructions during a tutorial. Having said that, I will definitely keep this tutorial at hand on my laptop when I start sewing this dress. Seeing the steps is extremely useful for me, especially since I am not a native speaker and do not necessarily know all the sewing jargon in English.

    What type of fabric is that?

  • @gwynt909
    @gwynt909 Před 4 měsíci

    I find it interesting that the sewer puts the bulk of the garment under the arch of the sewing machine instead of letting the bulk lie on the table and flow freely uncreased and uncrumpled.

    • @StyleArcSewingPatterns
      @StyleArcSewingPatterns  Před 4 měsíci +1

      This was just to show sewing the facing from the centre front to the back on each side to obtain a nice point at the V. I usually would have flipped the garment but wanted to have the facing upwards to make it easier to see! Sorry if it looked strange!!

      I wondered if it had to do with being right or left handed 😂 I always have my fabric to the left of the machine and thought I might be doing something wrong. The music is quite soothing? Fantastic tutorial, very clear. Thank you😊

    I am having alot of trouble getting the interfaced hem to lay flat. I see you didn't follow instructions to interface the hem and aren't having those issues. Suggest you amend the pattern instructions!

    • @StyleArcSewingPatterns
      @StyleArcSewingPatterns  Před 2 měsíci

      The hem facings in the video are interfaced, it's just tricky to see as it is white interfacing on white fabric. Please feel free to email us at enquries@stylearc.com.au and we can help you out there :)

    Also not a fan of the music, for me the whole point of a tutorial is for someone to talk through what they are doing not for me to have to read the instructions on the screen if I wanted to do that i would read the instruction book. You can’t watch and read at the same time whilst also trying to follow along. It would also be helpful to have time markers for different sectors if you need to go to a particular section , another way to do it would be to break the tutorial up so it matches the sections in the instructions.

  • @annasheldon8380
    @annasheldon8380 Před 4 měsíci +12

    Why do you do these types of tutorials? The music is so distracting, and the font is so small on the iPhone There’s no way to sew this pattern simultaneously. My attention is focused on reading the directions, can’t I do that on the pattern. Also, written directions are so impersonal, as a company that has created copious patterns, I still don’t know the person behind Style Arc, like I do other small Indy pattern makers. I was so happy to learn of a tutorial but so disappointed when I watched.

      You can turn your iphone sideways / landscape and turn the sound off. We cannot get these patterns in South Africa so I have a basic pattern that I use for many garments and adapt them to the garments shown on you tube.

    • @sewlovemydogs
      @sewlovemydogs Před 4 měsíci +5

      Turn your sound off so you don’t hear the music. Either screen shot so you can enlarge the writing to read it, or use a magnifying glass. Put your device on pause while you catch up and then unpause and continue. This is a very good video and of much use to others, perhaps if you bought an iPad you would be better pleased.
