    Hi, My Name is Kathy and I love to sew, especially garments., for myself, my friend and my family. I like to believe I’m on a minimalist journey and will share my closet with you. Five years ago, I started sewing garments after my daughter asked me to teach her to sew and I realized I had forgotten most things! Next came finding social media for sewing and then indy patterns.
    My Measurements are: Height 5”10’, upper bust 38”, bust 41”, waist 36”, hips 43”

    Hi from Ireland! I got a shock hearing an Irish accent from your device 😄 This was a great review - honest and modest! I love to hear real reviews from people who are like me - not overconfident and willing to admit that mistakes can be made. I'll definitely subscribe and all success to you on your sewing adventures!

    Thanks for the heads- up about the Bob pants which I'm about to cut out in beige linen. Also enjoyed your comic relief 😊

    You showed up in my feed today! Hurray! I think all the best clothes are "PJ" clothes. And quirky! Thank you!

      @@mysewingpractice I used to make clothes when my sons were little. Now they're 39 and 42. Now I'm getting back into sewing. I'm currently preparing my Melbourne house to move to a little cottage by the sea, "sew" not getting much sewing in yet.

    I had to laugh out loud at your new wheels shot :D That's just what I did when I cleaned the thread out of my chair wheels. I flew across the floor grinning like a little kid too😂

    Love Bob. Wearing one of my pairs right now...black chambray. So comfy! As an Aussie living in US, I'm super proud of Australian pattern companies but I agree, StyleArc's instructions leave much to be desired. However, I must say that I always feel very accomplished when I've successfully completed one of their patterns! Your Bobs look fab!!! I did the same thing with my pockets. :)

      You’re from Australia! How fabulous! I love the Bob’s! I wore mine today too. They’ve shrunk up a little, but the ankle length is so forgiving. I do want to sew more Style are patterns.

    Aah yes Style Arc patterns. Great patterns and great designs but the instructions are a little bit more to be desired. I've made quite a few of their patterns and they always go together well. It does help if you have a bit of experience. I generally just sew them together my way. I have the Bob pants pattern. Thanks for the info regarding the waistband. I would've just gone ahead and done it my way!!

      Hi England! Yes, I think they are a wonderful business. Their fashion aesthetic is is both timeless and ageless.

      But the videos are good, I will seek them next time. Thankfully the construction of pants is peer straight forward.

    I have the Bob pattern but haven’t sewn it up yet. There patterns are great with regard to fit, and selection but those instructions! 😩 I’m in the process of making the Loren jacket and it had me so frustrated. I’m getting there but I really had to think hard how some aspects were meant to be done. I’ve got the main pieces together but waiting the arrival of my lining fabric for it- which I’ve never done before. Wish me luck. ☘️

      I made the Bob pants last year in a Chambray fabric; Texas summers are hot. I love these pants and are especially comfortable for long car rides or in travel situations. I’m looking for some more fabric, maybe a lightweight linen for another pair. I will anchor my pockets at the waistline in the next pair.

    Love the look of the Bob Pants. I am a total newbie in garment sewing and the lack of instructions is a bit much for me. Any ideas for a pattern with good instructions that would give a similar look? (For a size 18-20 US or so.)

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před 2 lety

      That is a good challenge, I will look. I the mean time, check out the Style Arc video on the Bob pants, it helps enormously . If you have ever made pajama pants, you can make these.

      Got it! The Valencia pants by Ther Sewing workshop come in the entire size range. You’re going to do a simple modification. Just bring the leg back in starting at the knee. Honestly, that’s all the Bob is!

      go to Style Arc, tutorial, bob. It is not a video, but a picture guide. I put out video. It looks like you watched it. Now go for it!! you can do it!

    When talking about the pocket alterations…who is Whitney and where can we find that alteration help?
    I am a beginner sewing clothing and those directions on the pattern leave a lot unanswered! Lol.

      lol! Mary, I am so glad you have joined this CZcams channel and most especially to the sewing community. In the sewing CZcams world, there are two Whitney's. the one I mentioned lives in Colorado and can be found as "Whit Makes". The queen of all of us, in my opinion, is Whitney "TomKat Stitchery". Let me know if you need any help getting started sewing clothes. I suggest you look at Style Arc video help and I have a sew along episode on the Bob's, too. If you look in the description, you'll find more information.

      @@mysewingpractice Thank you so much! Just today I am getting ready to cut this pattern out. Another question, if I may, I am attempting to shorten the pattern. I am folding it at the shorten/lengthen line but when I do this it really distorts the crotch rise. I tried drawing a line to join the lines but it takes a good chunk out of the rise. Is that normal?

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem +1

      There is another lengthen shorten line usually on the lower leg. If not, lengthen / shorten around the knee. Often there’s a notch there.

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem +1

      In others words, don’t shorten the rise, unless you want to.

    The bob pant calls for 60" fabric but all i can find is 45", how do i convert?

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem

      I am looking at the fabric requirements. I see that the fabric width is 58 inches. Look at page 2 for this information. You did not say what size you’re making, but size 12 to 14 is 1.64 yards and size 16 to 20 is almost 2 yards

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem

      Oh goodness I just realized I messed up your answer. Can you give me your size? I will lay out my pattern pieces and figure it out

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem

      Basically, measure the length of your pattern piece including seam allowances & hems. Then double that. For example my pattern piece length is almost 40 inches. 80 inches equals 3 yards and 8 inches.

    • @jillk101
      @jillk101 Před rokem

      I think ill make the size 14

    • @mysewingpractice
      @mysewingpractice  Před rokem

      Therefore it depends on your height and desired length. But I would use about 3yards. 3meters would definitely cover it.
