- Hello, Sara here, and I'm excited to share my latest pattern with you: The Tie Dress! Inspired by my previous summer's makes, I've finally brought this vision to life, and I'm thrilled to sew along with you.
The Tie Dress offers two sleeve options: Short Sleeves and Elbow-length Sleeves.

If you're new to using PDF patterns, I'd recommend checking out a tutorial or video on how to use them effectively. • How to print and store...
The Short Sleeves feature a unique bottom opening detail, adding a touch of flair. If you prefer slightly less ventilation around the arms, you can easily sew longer side seams to block the opening.
For the Elbow-length Sleeves, I have incorporated an inverted pleat detail. This subtle feature enhances the elegance of your arms, creating a dramatic yet slimming effect.
The Tie Dress comes with pockets! However, I must emphasize that they are entirely optional.

Your overwhelming love and enthusiasm for my new pattern have me absolutely thrilled! 🌸💖I'm excited to offer you a special introductory deal: a 35% discount, available until May 10th. 🎉🍾 Happy sewing!
Such a great dress AND honestly it’s very rare to see a sew-along video to actually sew along with. Thank you! 💜
Aww thank you! Glad you enjoyed my sewalong video! 💕💕
This is exactly the pattern I have been looking for - what a lovely dress! I just purchased it and now I can relax knowing I can use my linen and double gauze that has been crying out to be sewn.
Haha! I hope it turns out lovely! 🥰
I'm 8 minutes into the video (so I've made the neck/bodice and ties). I'm omitting the pockets and doing the boatneck for both sides. I'm also adding zippers for easy access for nursing! Will send you pics over Instagram once finished 😊 thank you for such a beautifully made pattern!
Love your videos. Very clear instructions. The camera angles are perfect - I can always see exactly what you are doing. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your positive feedback!
So excited just purchased this pattern and wow - here we go let’s just watch a few more times❤
😍😍🥰
Love your pattern and your videos. Can’t wait to buy it xxx thank you for sharing your talents.
Aww thank you! I hope you enjoy making and wearing your Tie Dress!
Many thanks for the sew along video! I will definitely be using this. It's very understandable and easy to follow for a confident beginner like me.
I hope this video is helpful when you actually need it! ☺️💕
I love the simplicity of this dress while still being so graceful!
Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. The dress looks a lot like the “zero waste “ designs that I am so keen to make….because fabric is so expensive these days and because this planet suffers from wasteful use of fabric in many other designs. Your design is ideal. Not only are there clean shapes of rectangles , but I imagine that it would be very easy to make larger sizes if required by using wider fabric or adding panels to the bodice and/or skirt. The simple style is very elegant and, as you have shown, adaptable in style. I wish you much good fortune in your life❤😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a sweet comment!🙏😌🎀💕
It’s beautiful! Thank you for offering the pocket option too xx
I love this dress.❤ Thank you for showing us how to make it.
Oh, i cannot wait to make this! I think i will make it as a blouse, too!
Such beautiful videography while sewing Sara. I will start mine shortly. I will do the pocket variation but think I will extend the upper pocket into the skirt-bodice seam to anchor the pocket.
I love your idea, but it would make the dress no longer reversible.🥲
I love the way you make your ties!
I just learnt a new method from Instagram and I wanted to share!
A lovely dress and great sewing instructions as usual dear Sara. Thank you very much 😊
Thank YOU! xx
I love the sleeve detail! So creative!❤❤❤
Glad you love the details I've put a lot of effort!
So glad to see you on CZcams. I’ve missed you! I love watching you sew and demonstrate how simple it is to sew these amazing pieces. I will be purchasing this pattern and using up my linen fabric on a couple dresses. Thank you and Best Wishes.
I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoy watching my videos! If you have any questions or need tips along the way, feel free to ask. Happy sewing!
It ' s such a beautiful dress, I've already bought several fabrics to sew it and I'm just about to start. The instructions are almost clear. The only thing I don't quite understand are the long sleeves. In minute 14:44 it looks as if the long sleeves are directly attached to the bodice and in minute 15:02 there seems to be a second strap (the short sleeve?) in between. Can you help me, please?
It's a lovely pattern and I'm so happy you have a video to go with it ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Just purchased this pattern and can’t wait to try it. Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much.
Thank you! Happy sewing! 🤍
Thank you! I just purchased this pattern and can't wait to make it! It's lovely.
So excited! Happy sewing!! 🎀
Just loved this pattern. Bought it and can't wait to find some fabric to make it up for the summer.
I'm thrilled! Hopefully, you'll discover the perfect material for the dress and bring it to life soon!

😅😂 Thank YOU!! Hehe I hope you enjoy sewing and wearing my patterns as much as I do!!💕
So far I have made two of these dresses. One in solid, soft cottong and one in double musilin. And I love them so much! Use them way too often!
Excellent video, so clear and also with useful tips. Lovely dress pattern.
Thank you!
Amazing, so functional, I can see it styled for a formal setting like an office but also relaxed for everyday. Going to save it for next summer here in the Southern Hemisphere😊
Glad you like the versatility of this dress!! 😊💕💕🎀

Thank you for your purchase! Happy sewing!
I have the pattern, read instructions and watched the video... wish me luck.... so excited.❤
🤞I hope you enjoy making and wearing your Tie Dress! 🥰
I finally got this sewn up and I LOVE it. It was so easy to make, the instructions were easy to follow and the finished garment is awesome. I made the short sleeve version in a linen blend ad I plan to make more with variations. I also just purchased the Infit pattern and have cut out the top in 3/4 sleeve. Will make that to take on vacation this month also. Thanks for such great patterns.
Thanks for sharing! 🤍 Glad to hear you enjoyed sewing your Tie Dress and your first one turned out great! 😊💕💕
Just joined after watching this and many videos late last night. I sew for others a bit as retired to a very hot community but its had to make many sizes or truly customize and charge for that. I was looking for something like this that could be adjustable and not have to completely depend on sizing to myself or customer and let's face it...women's sizing fluctuates and with our hour glass shapes its hard to have size ranges. Men's clothing hangs from their shoulders like a hanger. They dont have to buy new shirts gaining or loosing 20 pounds! I also got a serger for my birthday in March because where I live is rural and im going to make "material" from tshirts and men's shirts. And cotton! High desert. We have 2 seasons! Hot in summer, cold in winter.
This dress is adorable, but I also see so many great ways to use this pattern (right now, I'm thinking of a painter's smock or crafting apron). Thank you for the simple, adaptable and wearable pattern.
I'm delighted that you find the pattern versatile and that you've already generated a wealth of ideas!
Just purchased! 😍 cannot wait to make this
Hope you enjoy it!! 💕
It's so pretty 😍 thank you ❤
Thank YOU!
I just bought the pattern and can’t want to sew a marvelous tie dress😊
Thank you! Enjoy your Tie Dress sewing! If you have any questions or need tips along the way, feel free to ask.
What a great video! Thank you so mich
Thank you so much for this lovely design 🤩
I'm glad you like it! 😆🤍
I made it! Great pattern. Learned a lot! 💐
🥰 Glad to hear you’ve learned something! 🙌
Your channel is so informative and educational. I’ve made 2 dresses already!
Wonderful! Thank you! 💕
I just finished making a skirt and was deciding on what to make next. I think it will be this because I just bought it and I have the perfect fabric for it.
Great! If you have any questions or need tips along the way, feel free to ask. Happy sewing!
@@SewingTherapyThank you Sara. I love the idea of tying this on the sides. And the pleated sleeves are so beautiful. I'm excited to get started. Fabric is washing right now for getting started tomorrow.
@@jenninstitches I'm excited too!
Very beautiful ❤️
Just finished cutting my fabric, and looking thru the video. Looking forward to sew tomorrow :)
🤞🤞Good luck on your first Tie Dress!
Can you tell me how you obtained a full size pattern from the pdf? Thank you. I have never done this before.
I will be ordering as soon as I get printer paper!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Oh cute dress!
Lovely thank you very much for this delight
My pleasure 😊
Beautiful pattern! I love your fabric choices. I wanted to buy it when you had it on sale for the release. But with a newborn baby I got distracted and forgot!
Very good!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Lovely
I am so looking forward to sewing this one, I have already bought the pattern and am starting today so thought I’d double check your video. Your instructions are so easy to follow, this is what I really appreciate about your patterns (having already made the hanbok skirt and infit both of which I love!), the ease of your patterns to sew and the instruction you provide in your sew alongs. I just tried another commercial pattern recently and it has been an unfinished disaster, the instructions are awful and difficult to follow. I have run back to do this pattern to regain confidence after that horrible experience!
Aww, I'm so glad to hear that sewing my pattern helps to rebuild your confidence! I truly appreciate your positive feedback on my patterns and sew-along videos!🤍🤍 Happy sewing!
I've been trying to sew for months. I saw your video and loved the dress! I finally started, and now I have a nearly finished garment for the first time. It's so exciting!
One suggestion: the part where you flip the belt could be filmed closer; it's hard to see
Great job!👏✨
I bought your pattern a few days ago, I think including a cutting layout would be a good thing to include. I am having some trouble to do this . Thanks love the dress
Thanks for your input! 😊🤍
Luv this dress.. great to see a Canadian designer .. Thank you for showing this in different fabrics.. this is definitely going to be on my "must make" for summer 😊
Aw thank you! 😊🎀 I hope you enjoy sewing and wearing your Tie dress in summer as much as I do!!
Beautiful design. It would be wonderful if you would consider this same dress pattern, but in a jumpsuit.
this design is genius, i’m definitely going to purchase, sad i missed the discount window though 😮
We're offering a 15% discount now to celebrate Mother's Day, and I don’t want you to miss out!☺️
You could just put a cute “patch” pocket on the front to avoid the “bulk” in the side seams!
Oh, and your voice is so pleasant to listen to. Unfortunately, many ladies these days end their sentences in guttural growling sound.
I lack confidence in English, so receiving such compliments makes me feel so good!
I really want to try this dress. I am currently debating whether I want to try to do an adjustment for a full bust or just leave it as is.
What a lovely dress. I will have to make one or two of these this summer. Do you think the Hanbok Jacket would look good with this dress, if not do you have a suggest for a light topper?
I think Hanbok Jacket would look good!
Hi, like to know whether the front and back bodices can sew in single layer fabric instead of 2. Weather in my country here is hot all year round. Will single layer fabric (shorter lining?) change the way the look of the dress? Thank you for your wonderful videos and sewing patterns, by seeing how each projects are done, makes me feel relaxed already. 😊
This has been such a relaxing peaceful, calming experience, thank you. I’d love to make this but I’d like to ask whether it would suit a tall lady with ample bosom and a big belly? I thought it would high her belly, but I think maybe it suits a smaller bust. I’m also expecting it will raise at the front hem, although I know how to compensate for that. I’d appreciate your advice, thank you.
I hope you can check out my shorts to see this dress on various body types and make your decision!
Beautiful design! Please oh please keep the pockets! Can you make square ones that are outside instead??
Of course, you can give it a try!
Hello and thank you for a beautiful dress pattern. I have purchased it and cut it out. I've been reviewing the tutorial prior to beginning and I have a question about the sleeve. In the video it looks like the long sleeve is sewn to the short sleeve piece. Am I seeing this correctly? Should I use both pieces? I don't see that on the drawing of the pattern. Thank you for your advice.
Ignore that joint and use the elbow-sleeve panel solely! I had to patch mine because I cut it too short!😅
About to purchase a couple of your patterns, but curious about one thing: I don’t own a serger, so can I just trim seam allowance to 1/4” and overcast stitch on my regular machine? I am assuming that 1/4” trim is correct here, but not sure. Please let me know finished seam allowance. Thank you so much for such beautiful patterns and excellent video tutorials! 🙏🏻☺️
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled you found the sewing tutorial helpful. There's no need to trim seam allowance! Just sew an overcast stitch on your machine. :) Happy sewing!
I notice in the video there is a strip of fabric attached to the side panel and the top of the elbow sleeve. I am currently sewing this gorgeous pattern and have attached the elbow sleeve directly to the side panel is this correct?
Yes, that's correct! Please ignore the attached pieces; I had to patchwork two pieces together to achieve the desired length.😅
@@SewingTherapy Thank you for your prompt reply, I thought I must of missed a step. Love this pattern!!
I’m new here and want to know how to sew this. I don’t know how to use patterns and is this one size fits all? If I’m able to make one for myself, I might make one for my sisters too. Thank you for sharing and the way you teach looks like something I can follow.
It seems like you're new to using PDF patterns. Not to worry! I'll leave a link below where you can learn how to use them. Happy sewing! czcams.com/video/CT-W4P-cd2w/video.htmlsi=qwqEem0sVYGBWKel
@@SewingTherapy I’m so thrilled that you responded to me. Thank you so much.
Thank you for his lovely pattern and tutorial. I have printed off the pattern and put it together. I don’t understand the sizing though. I think I would be a size 8 which means the finished measurements will be 48.7” on bust but I have measured across the width of both bodices and side panels and it comes to 39.4”. What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance.
Hello Sara I love the pattern and the video. Have got the pattern and put it together. I’m very confused by the sizing. If I cut out the size 8 the bodice would measure 39.5”. According to the finished garment size chart the size 8 should measure 48.7”on the bust and waist? Am I doing something wrong? I have emailed the website but have not had an answer yet. I’m quite new to sewing so hope you can advise me❤
Have you attached the side panels yet? ☺️
Yes I was counting the side panels in my measurements.
Hello Sara,
I love your design and am excited to start working on it. However, I have a few questions.
Due to the extremely hot weather in Taiwan, I want to change the method of sewing the front and back bodice. Would it be possible to use binding or edge stitching instead? Is this feasible?
You can use bias facing or neck facing instead of the lining. These alternatives can provide a clean finish to the neckline without requiring a full lining. 😆
@@SewingTherapy Thank you very much!
Hello Sara, is there any size like Infit for different style ? I’m small 1,60m for 50kg but I like large fit. According to you which size should I sew ? Thank you 🙏🏼 Sara !
The oversized feature depends on your measurements and preferences. I'm planning to create a reel about sizing, similar to what I did for Infit, so make sure to follow me on Instagram to catch it!
I happen to have double gauze fabric i can make this dress with! I do have a question however. Should i do the lining with double gauze as well? It seems like it could be quite bulky.
I used my double gauze fabric as a lining, and it looks great since the fabric is quite lightweight. If you think your fabric is too heavy, you can use any other lightweight material for the lining.
Can you please post a link to where we can buy your patterns? Can’t accomplish that at your website. Thanks
The link is usually found in the description below. Here's the direct link for you! twooninefabric.ca/products/pdf-tie-dress-pattern-sewing-therapy Happy sewing!
i have one question if you cut the fabric is that 1 cm of the pattern? or just on the edge of the pattern? it is my first time but i love your tie dress
The seam allowance is included, so you can just cut along the edge of the pattern.👍
Hello, I am just about to start making this dress. can i ask is the lining included in the overall amount of fabric needed or do i need to purchase extra for that? Also, can i use actual lining material or is it best to stick with same material? Many thanks for all your hard work
The fabric requirements chart includes the amount of fabric needed for the lining, but you can choose any other lining material for your project.
Hi. Which way do you press the seam at the waist?
I recommend pressing the waist seam downwards, but it's not critical. The best direction depends on the fabric type. Press in whichever direction the fabric lies naturally.
I don't have a serge machine to finish the edges like you do in the video.
You can use a picking shear. Or even a zigzag stitch on your machine. Or flat felled seams.
Please tell me how to use my pdf pattern to make this dress? Do you have the pdf pattern printed full size or what? Thank you
If you're new to using PDF patterns, I'd recommend checking out a tutorial or video on how to use them. Here’s my video link for you! czcams.com/video/CT-W4P-cd2w/video.htmlsi=dJ7GSdPo746zCO_c
I had a print shop print the AO Copy Shop file and I see that the side panel piece is twice the length of the two bodice pieces. Is this an error? Shouldn’t the side panels be the same length as the bodice pieces?
Oh, I see from the video that the side panel goes from front to back! That makes sense. Thanks for the video!
You already figured it out! 😊👍
I have bought the pattern and almost have it cut out...can hardly wait to get started sewing. I seem to have missed where I get the written instructions. I don't always have my computer on for the tutorial. Can you tell me where it is located?
There should be four download links, and one of them includes the instructions! 😊
Hello Sara, I love the pattern♥I bougt the pattern. But it's difficult to find the right size. How tall are you and what is your purchase size? What are your measurements? Thank you very much and kind regards from Monika
I’m 33-28-36 5’4” tall and I wear a size 6.
@@SewingTherapy Thank you so much🙂
I'm making up this dress for my daughter for the first time and I wonder if you could clarify something about the sleeves? At 15:30 in your video, it looks as if the short sleeve has been attached and then the elbow-length sleeve is sewn onto that, but your instructions only appear to tell us to attach the elbow-length sleeve directly to the side panel of the dress. Please could you tell me which I should do?
Please ignore it! 😅 I just had to patch two pieces together due to a fabric shortage.
@@SewingTherapy 😂 Thank you, now I know what to do!
한국에선 패턴구입이 안되나요 ??
웹사이트에서 구입가능합니다!
I bought the pattern online and it was downloaded and printed off at home. It has no instructions and I've been unable to put it together. I have emailed the website but no answer.
The grid placement is included in the instructions.
@@SewingTherapy I love the sew along but I am a written instructions kind of person. Would like to know how to get them so I have them when I don't have my computer on. Thank you.
the pocket must be hemmed before , before you attache it to the front and back
Accept that there are many other ways besides your method.
Well, I bought the pattern & have the printer finally working. So the print out looks like doll clothes. Contacted the local copy shop & received a $400 quote to print the pattern. Yikes!!! I hope i get this sewn before the end of summer!🥴
