For a large 5,300+ lbs All purpose SUV. You made a poor choice purchasing a 4.6. But I can understand if it was what was in the area. The 5.4 did have a 3 valve variant and it was actually spectacular. Except it had all the timing issues and cam lubrication system issues of any other triton, the difference being is that they had much better higher end power with great delivery and tugged a bit more with the extra few parts of air I've had the pleasure of driving both in my life time, although not extensively. And I can say the 3 vale 5.4 is 1,000% worth the extra pretty penny. They're more powerful and just as reliable so yuo basically take no loss. You could easily couple the 3V 5.4 with a bigger fuel pump, better intake and manifolds and a cheap straight pipe and be making at least 50+ horsies from stock. They love power.

Disagree. Lots of 4 cyl engines can sound great. Why do 4 cyl w 4into1 or tri-Y headers sound amazing? My favorite thing about old air cooled Suzukis even. Plus, VW/Audi thoroughly solved the 4cyl crap sound problem a long time ago. 1.8t 3" 304ss turbo back with Vibrant resonator sounds very healthy even at idle. The opposite of the laughable Honda limp dick trumpet sound.

Great video, good watch while eating dinner! I've got a '97 Expy that I use to tow my E38 740iL around when it inevitably breaks down. Transmission Overdrive is broken (the snap ring issue is what I'm guessing) but it's been extremely reliable otherwise. Sat for 15 years before I brought it back to life. Started on the first crank with a new battery after all that time. 4.6L 2V V8 engine + 4R70W trans.
