Not good. It may look OK, but the silicon does not stick to the surface you have sprayed the detergent on. This technique leads to spaces under the silicon for mould to grow in.

Hi. I’ve looked in vain for help in fixing the slow close mechanism in a seat like this with single cylinder hidden closer hinges. Plenty videos for those seats with two separate hinges and a gap between them - easy to pull out. The seat still closes slowly but the top lid bangs down. Might just need greasing but can’t get the main cylinder out. Can you help?
