I've been canoeing for over 40 years and $10 dollars for each canoe was insane! That first Old Town sells new for around $1,500. I bought mine around 1990 for $800 and sold it in 2010 for $900. Both of those canoes had the seats with cane inserts, which tend to deteriorate quickly. Mine had the nylon web lacing that was still in good shape when I sold it. Of course this auction was down on the coast where everyone prefers kayaks over canoes. Anywhere inland and those canoes would've brought around $300 to $500 each at auction and even more on Craigslist!

Dammit if that boat is truly worth $100,000 then I could have bought it. $31,000 was maximum bid then I would have bid $32,000 in hopes that could win it then sell it after I buy the big boat, for what it is worth then try to get another boat. Is there a website that people can sign up to bid, for boats at the auction? Unfortunately the auction is somewhat far from where I live. If I somehow end up participating in an auction, and winning a bid then I can travel to the USA, and pay, for it in person, or on a website if this is possible, for me to do.

Never pay for a boat or vehicle if they don't have a clean title for it.

😥maaaan you have no idea how bummed i am that i wasn't able to make it.... i was all packed up and ready to go, doing my last couple checks around the house, turning the water and gas to the house off, making sure there was no food that would go bad in the fridge... then on my way out the door i noticed a stack of new mail had been delivered. i opened it and apparently something changed with my disability, and i have a few appointments i have to make over the next couple weeks to get everything set back up properly, and if i miss any of the appointments, especially the one on Monday that i have to do in person, i could lose my health insurance and stuff. if i was there i 100% would have bought that Catalina 25 $400 and no lien??? ya i'm 6'2" and it's short, but i would have just planned to pop the top, glass it in, and make it permanent so it would be tall enough for me to stand in while cooking and doing dishes and stuff. and with a boat that small i could have setup a sculling oar instead of getting an outboard. and i would have bid on a couple of the SUPs and kayaks to use as a temporary dinghy so fucking bummed man

Wow, thank you for showing us how the boat auction works out in California. I've never been to a boat auction before. It's sure surprising how boats that were once loved and taken care of ends up selling for cheap all because people didn't take great care of them an let these boats turn out going bad with damage. Just like termites, they are very bad, they will eat all the wood and only leaving the fiberglass hull behind. Then water damage causes alot of hidden damage and you have to search until you track down how the water is getting into the boat. It would be awesome I'd think to have a boat yard where you can have a decent place to fix them. If i was a younger man I would love to do something like that. Fix them right and give them a new life and sell them to new families who will take care of them like the original owners did. It's good to help others and share the love with everyone.

We're on the other side of the marina -I'll keep an eye out next time I'm down there. Lmk when you're heading out to Catalina next.

i'm the same way when it comes to overthinking things like that. like i still need to drill the hole in the roof if my SUV for the cables to my solar panels, but i'm thinking ill just run those through the door for now cuz i'm running out off time if i wanna make it there for the Auction on Saturday, and i still have a small gas leak i need to fix, and gotta rotate my tires and change my brakes, and do an oil change..... hahaha all the unfinished projects adding up at the last minute
