If You ONLY Buy ONE FIXED BLADE KNIFE… This KA-BAR Is A Solid Choice! | Jarosz Turok Knife Review
The Jarosz Turok is one of the very best all around fixed blade knives I’ve ever handled.
There are better slicers, better choppers, and better hunting knives, and better camp/bushcraft knives… but if you want a knife that can do it all quite well, this is a great choice.

In regards to durability, from watching the 12 ft pound testing which Spyderco does at the factory, the spidey hole does not seem to compromise blade strength whatsoever, as it is literally never the breaking point of the knife. In addition, the ball bearing lock from Spyderco is one of the strongest locks in production right now, and while Benchmade's axis lock is plenty strong as well, IMO durability is a win for the Manix if only slightly. The plastic used in the cage construction also makes it feel cheaper but was chosen for the functionality of decreased wear on the metal components surrounding the cage, prioritizing a long lasting product. Loved the video, fellow Manix maniac

  • @DoloresVillatoro-ho5jg

this was a good video. I just got mu 1211 earlier today, I stropped it to a near mirror finish on the bevel. had a few ka-bars in my day but I'm happy I got this one. I went on Kabars website and the 1211 models are only going to be receiving a single stamp on the tang, it no longer has USA 1211 on the tang anymore. Hopefully it makes it more durable. I thought I got a knock-off at first! I'll put some use on it after the "babying" phase!

I've got an old half serrated one in AUS8A. Absolutely love everything about it. The steel is SO easy to keep screaming sharp with a strop (which is good because a half serrated tanto generally isn't lol) . I've got Spyderco, I've got ZT, I've got Chris Reeve, but I always go back to my Recon 1 tanto when I need a knife and have no idea what sorts of things I might need to cut that day.

I'm going to be the odd duck here and from the size of those blades you might aas well be carrying a plain pocket knife such as a barlow or schrade ot oldtimer. those small blades are what us old guys call apple peelers or whittling knives. In self defense scenarios who want to spend time trying to carve small chunks out of an attacker and risk being harmed worse in the long run. Granted they have their uses but that is about all they have. In the end what you decide to carry is your choice and whatever happens you have to live with.

Nice video-subscribed! I’ve handled a Winkler RnD and machining/finish is excellent. I wish I had the opportunity to test it on a flesh-and-bone-like target-concerned chopping blade might be prone to “hang up” on extraction-only testing will tell. Full disclosure-I make modern spike tomahawks streamlined for comfortable everyday carry and combatives. I was mentored by Jack Vargo (RIP), who wrote the book on spike tomahawks. I like the design aesthetics of the RnD, but the rear spike is too tiny. When you throw in the “hump” on the back of the handle, the spike’s effective length shrinks even more. A longer spike opens up a lot more options in combatives, as well as utility applications. Also the weight is north of 20 ounces. To me, it felt pretty sluggish in the hand. It only feels “lively” next to other similarly overweight tomahawks. Most historic spike tomahawks weighed 8-10 ounces, head and handle-blindingly fast and very nimble. Lighter than a Kabar knife. Also the carry system is set up for either chest rig or outside the waistband. That’s common for most tomahawks on the market, but has issues. I have had customers who carried similar full tang tomahawks in these “open carry” set ups, having problems with the protruding handle catching on things. One Canadian customer was wearing his on the torso, slipped in the snow and fell down a hill and his body weight drove the handle hard against his chest-the pain was so great he thought he’d fractured a rib. Tomahawk carry is safer is the axe is streamlined to the body-think handle tucked inside the waistband, or axe head under armpit, handle dangling under arm and under a covering garment. But underarm carry is dangerous with the one-piece “pull down” sheaths-way before I designed my own tomahawks, I tried carrying an American Tomahawk company VTAC in a custom shoulder rig. It worked most of the time, but once I raked the chopping blade thru my love handle-thankfully the back hair covers the scars. A two piece carry system is a lot safer for underarm carry. Hard to explain in comments, but we did a video showing how it works. I suspect an after market carry system could be made for the Winkler that may resolve issues with the current set up. You say it’s small, you were showing huge knives that nobody wants. As a real worker you want small in your pocket. When you work hard you don’t want big you want small the Osborne is a strong knife not really the sharpest but a strong knife

My 555 is one of my favorites and the most used folder, but my spyderco Rock jumper is a runner-up 🤷🏽

They put on Teflon washers cause some people don't take their knives apart to clean and do maintenance on them and some people don't know that can be done. So the knife will still perform for the ignorant people.

I like the way the current recon looks but it would be neat if Cold Steel kept the OG recon in production at the same time.
