  • The Jarosz Turok is one of the very best all around fixed blade knives I’ve ever handled.
There are better slicers, better choppers, and better hunting knives, and better camp/bushcraft knives… but if you want a knife that can do it all quite well, this is a great choice.

I've been looking at buying one of these for a long time. The only reason I haven't picked one up yet is I already have more damn knives then I can ever carry. My collection is already out of control. Still, something about this knife draws my attention. I like it's 8" bladed big brother too.

Absolutely, it’s just got such an appealing look to it. I’m in the same boat… I love it, but at this point I have multiple knives that I’d probably throw on my belt before this one.
The bigger one though… who knows, maybe some day!

I think I have similar thinking: Around 4" is a good size because you can keep it on your belt, and it doesn't get in the way while in vehicles... and 10+ inches is a good size too... while the middle ground between those lengths is not so useful.

A tip for the sheathe it will loosen after using it alot but that is why i love Kydex and plastic sheathes they are secure in any situation! That looks like a great Do it all blade cheers bro

I know what you mean about Kydex loosening up, but this guy’s had this knife for a couple of years and it’s still solid. In this case, I believe the design is just so good that the retention will hold up for a long time, if not forever.
      Thanks buddy 🍻

Been eyeballing this knife as my next purchase for a while.
    I live surburban southern california.
So i already keep a Becker bk2 in my nightstand for general utility/emergency reasons. It wont be as effective as a crowbar or axe to get through drywall to escape a room after an earthquake, but it is definitely up to the task.
But i want something a bit bigger and lighter for keeping in my car or for a true emergency kit. Something that CAN do just about anything including self defense, and the Turok has been on my shortlist for a while now.
As you mentioned, i wouldnt carry it on my belt- unless it was an emergency.
I wouldnt try to set up any sort of camp or shelter with it- unless it was an emergency.
But it seems like the kind of knife that is a true jack of all trades while being a master at none. Exactly the sort of thing id want in an emergency.

Do you have an opinion on the kabar swabbie? That's my biggest knife. I've found it to be tough and great for yard work.

I had a similar experience after buying the Survive GSO 5.1. My second most expensive knife purchase ever, I thought to myself "this looks like it'll be good for everything". It had great ergos, looked attractive, perfect fit and finish... but damn, every time I go to try and use it I just think "I have a knife that does this job 10X better". It's too short to chop, too thick and long for hunting or food prep, too heavy for lightweight hiking, terrible for carving and (I imagine) wouldn't be the best combat blade either. I've found that certain design elements conflict when put together and when you try to make a jack of all trades you really end up with a 3 of all trades.

My current favorite that has replaced my KaBar Turok, Esee 6 amongst others is the new KaBar/Spartan Fighter. And I’m a bit surprised given your servitude that I haven’t seen you with a Entrenching Tool...or did I miss it?

The ESEE 6 is one I haven’t gotten to handle yet, I’ll be curious to see how if compares.
That KA-BAR Spartan collab is sick though… can’t blame you there!
I stayed in the army long enough to quality me to shoot a bunch of stuff and clean the fuck out of some toilets, so I never got my hands an E-took funny enough. Plus, the CAF is so broke right now Infanteers in training weren’t even getting issued Gerbers (good luck clearing machine gun hard stoppages without one). The only shovels we seen were crummy old pioneer tools.

Lol...I’ve found the Esee 5&6 to be great tools. Though the Esee 5 is kinda like carrying a Cold Steel SR1 as your folder. I look forward to trying the Glock 81 field knife and E-Tool. Would also like to try the Jungles II when they re-Stock again. Look forward to your exploits and watching your progression in the knife game...
