Nice review, I hadnt even seen the "no mic" thing but mine is mounted in a room where I dont realy need audio anyway :) I also prefer the Turret and its a HUGE improvement over the G3 and G4 Flex´s I have now thrown in the "I will deal with you later"-pile :)
Haha, that is where my G3 Flex cameras have ended up too 😂
Finally somebody talk about this topic... thanks for shearing experiences.... ☕️☕️
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching.
My AC Pro died last week, 7 years old. Fast forwarded through your review to get the gist of what you thought of it, then rushed to Scorptec to pick up the U7 Pro. Very happy I did, this thing is awesome! Thanks to the Cloud Key there was zero effort in moving the 25 odd clients to the new one; I just separated 6ghz to a new AP (with only 6ghz) so that my one and only 6E device (S21 Ultra) wouldn't switch back for I'm guessing band steering reasons. Speeds are just astounding. Love my Unifi gear, thanks for the review!
Thanks for sharing mate. I have a separate SSID for 6ghz, but not dedicated APs. The speed is really good still though (when it connects to the 6ghz APs), and I am definitely noticing it moving large video files around on the network.
@@LarsKlintTech Ah, I actually meant an additional wireless network (ssid) - not a separate physical unit. The U7Pro handles multiple wireless networks very nicely! The old one has succumbed to a power issue I think, LED all faded and could only get 0.5mbit/s download. I have my desktop computers physically wired, but my Ryzen AM4 HTPC also has a 6E wireless connection - I'd get just sub 2ms latency to Speedtest, vs just under 1ms when wired. And around 650mbit/a sustained downloads from the FTTP - IMHO, that's crazy fast. (Signal travels around a corner and through an 8 year old 65" TV).
no audio! Ughhh I was sold on this camera until no audio...
I would have liked to see that too. Have you considered the G5 Turret Ultra?
@@LarsKlintTech Yes that's what I'm looking at now
@vipjeffvegas excellent. I did a video on that too if you want to check it out.
@@LarsKlintTech I have a G5 bullet and I'm wondering how that compares to the latest turret as far as audio and video quality?
@@vipjeffvegas They are very very similar imo. The video is probably slightly better on the G5 Bullet, and the audio is about on par for both.
That spinning light , is just wild, lol
Which spinning light? 🤔
@@LarsKlintTech not spinning , I misworded, circling light? You're the first video I have watched with these products in action , I've been watching all the videos I can find to understand this product line by unify , I think i heard someone call it a status light... It kinda makes it look something from the Terminator movie
@@anpc86 Oh, the flood light? That is for night time colour footage, rather than a traditional flood light. Thanks for noticing the action part. All my videos are using the devices in a real world setting as much as I possibly can. It is difficult to get the longevity testing obviously, but I use the devices for a few days while filming to get as good a sense for how they work as I can.
There’s a thin blue light constantly orbiting the lens. I thought that was what @anpc86 meant. Does it do that constantly or is that some kind of adoption/pairing mode?
@@360theosiris The thin blue light is when a motion event is occurring.
Im just curious, do you guys with cameras outside need to worry about birds? Also for cold winters , Lars please give us an update around that time
I have the occasional bird sitting on top of one of the llama cams, but in general I don't notice nor think about it. We don't get super cold winters here, but frosty nights and mornings are no problem. In general I've never had a Unifi camera fail due to cold or hot, and we get 40C+ here in summer at times.
@@LarsKlintTech ok I'm just wondering if they will poop on it I live in a condo now on top floor and they installed those bird spikes everywhere to prevent them from perching and messing the place up... Moving to house now so trying to understand these products but this video of the AI enhancer wow .
@@anpc86 You will get all sort of crap (pun intended) on the camera over time if it is outside. Bird spikes can sometimes help, but I don't have any on mine. See how you go and adjust as needed?
Good video mate, sorry I just wanted to know, isn't outdoor access points already wide in scope, why else would you use indoor access points and bridges? What is the reason, if I may ask?
Thanks for watching. I am not sure what you mean. Are you asking why I need the indoor access point?
@@LarsKlintTech Yes, isn't the rap6260 enough to cover all areas outside and inside too?
@@teddykarhandiansyah2937 Possibly, but I believe it is directional, so coverage is mainly in front of the AP. Also, metal roofs, walls, other devices, and more can make the signal worse. I prefer having APs outside and inside for the best coverage.
@@LarsKlintTech OK, just for information. U can also use cpe610 to build wireless bridges. My experience in making a successful wireless bridge using 3 cpe610s is quite far, around 600m
These cameraes are a JOKE ! looks like shit and cost way too much
Thanks for sharing your opinion, but could you be more specific? What other brand and model could you recommend that is more aesthetically pleasing, has same features and specifications, and of course a better price point? I am genuinely keen to learn from your vast knowledge, and if you can link to your content as well, that would be awesome. That way we can all learn. Cheers.
does the home assistant work with other things such as sensibo? and how'd you find the efficiency of the nobo? what is the approximate power usage per kwh when heating a room while maintaining the temperature at 21c ? im presently investing in 10kw solar, and hoping to use the grid feedback offset to replace our ducted gas system, which has a big cost on our overall bills. if I can set up this with my solar, and remove the gas heating, I'm suspecting I could possibly save up to 3k a year.
Yes, Home Assistant works with thousands of brands, products and devices. Since you ask about Sensibo, here is my video on that specifically: czcams.com/video/g7xmP3VaeVY/video.html My Nobo heaters are still going strong. As always, it depends on what kind of room, ceiling height, insulation, size of room and more. There is no simple answer. I use a 800W, 1000W and 2000W heater as the room sizes change. I am not sure of the power usage apart from that, as, again, there are many variables. I am happy with mine, especially cause they are super quiet, very safe, and you can have furniture right up against them.
@@LarsKlintTech we have a product here in australia called powerpal it gives a usage reading of our smart electric metre so we can see real time the power draw differences of things. But this all looks pretty promising to me. I will have a better idea of the cost outlay when the time comes but i suspect my gas heater probably only has about 5 years left in it. As the alternate is split systems to the bedrooms which theres a gov rebate for if i disconnect my gas heater.
@@malcolmr8348 I know the PowerPal, but unfortunately they don't support my area of Victoria. Go figure.

I'm not sure. Have you contacted UI support? Is it still within warranty? If so, you can request an RMA.
Could you give the link for that cabinet in the video. Thank you
I got it off eBay and there are lots available. Search for 6RU 450mm server cabinet. I don't have the exact link anymore unfortunately.
Thank you for the great info! I’m looking at either one of these cameras for an application overlooking our paddocks with horses. How are these cameras zoom capabilities? Or is there a better camera that ubiquity provides for this application? Thank you
It depends on what you mean by zoom. Do you want to set the zoom and forget, or do you want to follow the horses around or something else? The G4 Pro and G5 Pro have the same 3x zoom optics, which are meant to be set once you get it and then not really after. It is a way to get the right frame for recording. If you want to move it in real time, I suggest looking at the G5 PTZ. My video for that comes out next week. 😊
Hey Lars I swear I saw you replace that 24 port PoE with a 48 port PoE..... am I going mad . Great content mate keep it up!!
I did replace a 24 port PoE switch with a 48 port PoE switch, but it was in my office, not here 😊 So, you're not entirely wrong 😛
@@LarsKlintTech that makes sense! Would love to see a whole farm overview of all networking equipment, cameras, from both the UI and real life for 2024 😊👌
@@jkpeI'm planning on doing that in the next few weeks 🤓
Would you be able to pause the playback when it detects the car plate and zoom in to see if it's visible?
Yeah, can do, and it seems okay to me, using human eyes and brain. Someone suggested trying to add a white border to the number plate and see if it helps.
@@LarsKlintTech I ordered a g5 pro. There was no AI pro in stock. Little disappointed the AI is better even though the sensor specs are the same.
@@lawdawg1942 Yeah, same sensor, but the processing power is a lot more to cope with the added AI features. The G5 Pro is a great camera too.
I would prefer a solar panel option for power, I rent so I can’t drill
It would be interesting to see a solar panel camera from Unifi, but there are several challenges. 1) Keeping a battery charged with a solar panel for a high quality camera that runs 24/7 is a tall order. You either need a big solar panel or a big battery, and even then you aren't guaranteed it won't run out. 2) Unifi is known for their reliability and high quality in cameras. A solar powered camera is by design not as reliable as a wired camera. 3) A solar panel adds complexity to the engineering and design, so the prize might be too high for the market, which is used to very cheap solar panel cameras currently available. In your case, maybe it is worth looking at cable runs or PoE adaptors for things you are able to install.
I’ve seen other manufacturers that offer small solar panels for their cameras
@@wilty5 I'm not saying it doesn't exist or is possible, just that there are compromises.
Wish I got a regular home assistant instead of this
I hear that a fair bit, unfortunately. Have you looked at the Home Assistant Green?
@@LarsKlintTech I was considering one of those hardwares before seeing a video about the ISG assuming it was simpler, but so far homey pro so far is more compatible with the things I have, I think it's the ISG's fault
@@TornadoBarrage It is definitely not simpler as I found out. And I had problems with compatibility too, so I hear you.

@@LarsKlintTech Not sure, I do it about once a month and so far so good
@Ryasis12345 excellent. I'll try that. Thanks for sharing mate.
I'm annoyed on your behalf that you install the camera and then have to go back and adjust it after its adopted. Please adopt the camera at your network rack before you install it, so you can see the camera on your phone and install and adjust all at once, saves going up and down the ladder. Even if not for yourself, for my sanity haha Apart from that, great video as always, I'm dissapointed I did g4's at my house, the new camera are significantly better and cheaper, I really bought at the wrong time
There are many ways to install it. In some of the videos I have adopted the camera from the phone after install, which does allow me to adjust straight away. I'll keep it in mind ☺ The G4 range was excellent at the time, and still performs. Technology improves all the time, and if we kept waiting, we'd never do anything. Thanks for watching as well mate 🤓
Isn't this US dollars.
Yes, it's USD129.
Look at those cobwebs. Gotta love regional Australia. Lol.
Hahaha, yeah. And I cleaned the carport 6minutes and 42 seconds before I recorded too. 😂
Hi, Thanks for this. What is you favorite camera out of them all ? Thanks Terence
You just had to put me on the spot, didn't you Terence? 😛 It kinda depends on the scenario, so I'll give you three. 1) For best bang for your buck, the G5 Turret Ultra. It has a very high quality image and very long IR range for a very low price. 2) All time favourite is the AI Pro with the AI Pro Vision Enhancer. It is extremely high quality, tracks number plates, faces, animals, and lots of noises. With the enhancer, you get a loud speaker, excellent floodlight, 40 meters IR range, and a radar. I just love that camera. 3) For the most versatile, feature rich, most room for upgrades (from Unifi) is the G5 PTZ. It is really capable and has some super neat features. My video on this comes out next week. Which is your favourite?

What a coincidence... I installed one of these at my Front Door the day before this vdeo came out as I wanted something unobtrusive... It is so much better than the Hikvision I had in the same spot and being so small, it doesnt look out of place... 2 things you missed (maybe)... (1) When you get it lined up, there is a small screw on the side of the camera (without cover on) to lock the camera angle in place, and (2) One of those "instruction manuals" is a nice cleaning cloth.... I find with a good amount of light, it has an excellent picture, but not much light, it gets a bit grainy... But, overall, excellent product.
Haha, coincidence indeed. I was aware of the small screw, but didn't record it. However, I wasn't aware of the cleaning cloth 😂 I completely missed that. I am very happy with the picture, and we have light in the carport, so the picture is great. I still kinda wish it had a microphone in it.
@@LarsKlintTech I wondered at first why two instruction manuals, then decided to open both to find the cloth. Regarding the microphone, for my situation/location of the camera, I have a Eufy Doorbell (to be replaced with Unifi) so that has the abillity for me to listen/talk.
@@robear0135 The pressure of recording and remembering to say everything sometimes means I miss things. Not the first time, won't be the last 😂 Yeah, excellent. The G4 Pro Doorbell?
@@LarsKlintTech - All good.. Keep the videos rolling through... Just posting what I came across for others... mmm.. I'll have to check out the G4 Pro doorbell now... Anyway, off to your Merch shop now... 🙂
Just found your channel and ive been loving it so far. I have a horse barn i want to mount a Unifi camera to along with some Ir floodlights. I want to be able to see as far as i can at night. What would you recommend for that? i would assume the g5 pro would be best? so like, which is best at night without the built in ir light? Ill also be putting a g5ptz to look around and the 1/2.4" is a sensor size idk why they measure like that, but its just a weird fraction of an inch. 1/2.4th of an inch 0.41666" (repeating of course)
Welcome Ryan 😊 And thanks for the kind words. For a barn you want something wide angle. The G5 Pro is a great camera, but in this case I'd say check out the G5 Turret. It is a very clear image, and the IR range is excellent. I know you said you'd put up IR floodlights, but check it out anyway. I did a video on it last week. It will save a lot of $$ and it might just be what you need. Otherwise the G5 Pro is a very good camera too. I am currently editing the G5 PTZ video, which will be out next week too 😁 Alright, now I need to then figure out which sensor does a better job in what scenario. Thanks mate.
@@LarsKlintTechhmm I think I’ll try the turret. Reasonably priced and I like the look. Better IP rating than the bullet anyway. Larger sensor could mean higher quality images, or just more light. And obviously a 1/2” is bigger than a 1/2.4”. It just looks really weird having a fraction on a decimal Can’t wait for the PTZ video! I watched your turret video not long after it came out.
@@ryancrazy1 Awesome. Sounds like a plan ☺ Yes, I've learnt it is just the sensor size in weird American measurement 😂 I will have to learn a bit more about sensors. The PTZ is going to be a long video. So many things to explore....
@@LarsKlintTech Just got my G5 PTZ installed today. Things i hope youll cover. 1 Focus issues? seems the auto focus is a bit, eh? 2. @@ryancrazy1 Thanks Ryan. I am sort of covering the first one, but not the others. I haven't noticed the colour shift tbh, and I don't have a viewport. Please do comment on the PTZ video when it goes live too 😊
Any idea if they'll come out with a white version of this AI Pro Vision Enhancer to match the white AI Pro camera that is supposedly coming soon?
I don't have any inside knowledge but it would make sense to make a white version.
Curious what your POE solution was that you mentioned. Is that the M5 or another proxy device?
I haven't done it myself yet, but at 3:35 there is an example of a PoE powered ESP32 board called the Olimex.
Bought this for new home purchase to move away from RPi. So far disappointing.
A Home Assistant Green is a much better option imo. It uses eMMC storage, which is very stable and reliable. I don't know what storage type the ISG has, as they won't share that information. With the Green, you get timely updates, no proprietary software that wakes things more confusing and more out of date. And the Green is cheaper.
