Architect Knives make beautiful knives and i was lucky enough to pick up a stunning Magnacut 6.5 as a camp knife, but I wish they would stop with the skeletonized tangs, it really lets down an otherwise perfect range of knives. I know they are probably plenty tough enough and its all about balance etc., but psychologically I cant get past a skeletonized tang being equivalent of a half tang and not a full.

I have similar pouch for metal canteen but I have a titanium Stanley style cup with lid. Inside is net pouch with knife, compass, 2. 410 caliber shotgun cartridges, a folding knife with saw, lighter, 2 small candles, pencil sharpener ( to get dry kindling from sticks) On front of canteen pouch is a front zip pocket I stuffed with first aid gear including tcp oil bandages etc. It has sling to put over shoulder and 2 straps on back I folded waterproof poncho into the straps so the pouch itself it's similar to a " T" shape. Plenty of room above metal container so added thin gloves and a heavy duty zip lock bag to put white birch bark or other resources I find. Awesome video mate, respect from 🇬🇧

I’m always that friend handing out basic comfort items to friends who are ill-prepared for just normal everyday survival. My main water bottle kit has this pouch. The bottom area holds an alcohol stove and stand, with a book of matches. Imho it must have a filter straw (I like the Survivor Filter best) and purification tabs. I also keep a bandana, 1/2”x5” ferro rod wrapped in jute twine, nesting cup and lid, a Mora Eldris, a glow stick, and of course a small bottle of denatured alcohol for the stove. Some of my bottle kits have a tea ball. Some have a silcock key.

Cutting ranger bands 1/2 inch wide from bike tubes come in handy as well. I'm sure I could squeeze some snare wire and fishing kit in the voids.

That's a good kit. Something I like to carry is a roll of vet wrap in place of Band-Aids. I like the 4" X 5 yds. Rolls. It can be used as a tourniquet in an emergency. Some of the local police officers that I have introduces this to have told me it is been used to save more than a few people's lives. It makes one hell of a tough Band-Aid. 😁

Oh boy Dan you have gone and done it now lol!! I think that some things that I would add to this kit is as follows: 1. A small pealess whistle, such as one of those SOL rescue howler models for signaling. 2. A 55 gallon contractor bag that can be used to maybe line the inside where the bottle sits. These have so many uses I would be here all day trying to list them all. 3. A small Starflash signal mirror that could fit inside the bandana in the bottom. 4, Along with the mirror, place a credit card sized Fresnel lens in that compartment to. Would be a redundancy for fire starting at the least. 5. A small but good quality compass, such as those ones made by Sun company, for at least cardinal directions and since it does have a rotating bezel possibly navigation. 6. Some water purification tablets for obvious reasons. 7. A couple of the small chem lights to use on some cord for the buzz saw signaling devise. Like the kind used for fishing lures. 8. Maybe buy a small container of dental floss for extra cordage. Break the container and just use the spool. 9. I would add to the med kit a couple of packets of the PK hydration mixes to treat possible symptoms of dehydration. 10. I would also add, only because I have them from other kits I have made, is some kind of portable memory, such as some survival info sheets or pamphlet, because under the stree of a survival situation you or if you have become a casualty for whatever reason, another person with you might be able to use your gear to effect survival or rescue. Since a kit such as this is limited the main goal should be to be rescued ASAP!! I think the blade choices are fine. I think I would feel very confident with a kit such as this. Sorry to ramble, but great video!! One other thing that I forgot is a sheet of, at least 3ft of aluminum foil folded up in the pouch where the mylar sheet it is, as it can be used for many things as well.

Nice! I have a kit built around that same bottle bag. There's a round watertight Sistema container that fits perfectly in that bottom compartment; I use it for salt, bouillon and electrolyte caps. My favorite bottle bag kit is built into a Maxpedition 12x5 with a pair of Cocoons on either side. In that I carry a small multitool, knife, fire stuff, water treatment tabs, etc. I actually do like the $1 cheapie ponchos, they work fine for a few uses especially with a bit of paracord to make a belt. Ask me how I know… 😂) I attached a Wilderness innovations poncho plus Sea To Summit bug net , some cordage, gum blanket & Ti stakes in a matching roll bag onto the strap and along with all of the other gear I fit in the pouches of the carrier, I’ve been able to camp out for 2 nights with nothing but my H2O kit.
