Architect Knives make beautiful knives and i was lucky enough to pick up a stunning Magnacut 6.5 as a camp knife, but I wish they would stop with the skeletonized tangs, it really lets down an otherwise perfect range of knives. I know they are probably plenty tough enough and its all about balance etc., but psychologically I cant get past a skeletonized tang being equivalent of a half tang and not a full.
Others have expressed the ame sentiment. I am undecided on this, but to my knowledge not one single knife has ever been returned to them because the handle was damaged. And some of their models have been out for a few years.
Looks great. Looks really similar to the White River Ursus Cub. I wonder if White River is manufacturing these? Dan, how about a video on a theoretical overnight or survival type situation, where you only have your EDC and this new EDC knife or another knife in EDC size? Just to showcase how you'd do it without your main tools. Thanks!👍🏻
at 3.5" blade this could easy be a edc knife as well. i personally love 1095 steel in my experiance with blades and steels carbon steels for the most part are better for outdoor hard use. Have you ever tried Sk85 or sk5? great video brother..

Nice video!! I have the esee 6 scales from the knife connection in canvas micarta but they are not very grippy. Is g10 more grippy under dry conditions?
canvas micarta can be more grippy than g10, but the way TKC finishes the scales they are a little slick. you can take some rough grit sandpaper and lightly sand them to expose more of the canvas fibers and get more grip.
I have a set of each (canvas micarta and G10) from TKC and I found that the G10 provided better traction on my Architect 5.5. The canvas micarta from TKC is finished much smoother than ESEE's canvas micarta
It depends on what steel you choose, handle materials, etc. On the Architect Knives website you build your own knife. Mine with 1095 steel is around 125.00
I realize that part of your channel is about kit review. But you would be best suited to design your own knife. I did after years and $1,000s later. You would be amazed at how many very high end knives I would just get mad at and first youth I seen at the trail head parking lot I would just give the knife away (with the parents permission). The only knife that I barely tolerated was my Randall #25-5 and I hated that knife even to this day some 36 years after getting it. I knew that because of where I go and the activity’s I do there would be two knives needed. My Bush knife is 5” long and 1/4” thick. My Stalker is 4” x 3/16”. They are very similar but the Bush knife is made for Africa and Eastern Europe/Northern Asia (Russia) where animals are thicker skinned and the terrain is much more demanding. The Stalker is made for Central and Western Europe specifically the Scottish Highlands where the animals are smaller and thinner skinned and where I also enjoy fishing. I’m not saying they can’t do each others jobs, but I like it better this way and I have not bought a knife except for collecting now in about 15 years. Just a thought.
I have designed two knives so far and done videos on each. The Ochoco Bush Knife and the Ochoco EDC Knife. I use both along with my other knives. I enjoy testing out new knives for the viewers, and have been fortunate enough to find a few that I really like and enjoy using. Very cool that you have designed your own!
