      Thank you! I really enjoy that feeling of nostalgia when following after the woodsmen of old.

    Thanks Dan; I am looking forward to this series. I spent a little over seven years in Alaska and always would camp under a tarp with a long fire in front. One night on a moose hunt in was -10 F. I stayed warm, but burned a hell of a lot of wood.

      It is surprising how much wood you go through in a night. I haven't done a below 0 night yet. Been just slightly above 0.

      Definitely was comfortable. And at the end of the day, tarp was in perfect condition regardless of the embers that made there way onto it.

    Awesome video Dan!! Just the inspiration I need, planning on a little scout tomorrow. Gonna check out some resources on some land nearby, hoping to find a place for a basecamp!!

    Using big rock as a reflecter and heat sink is very clever . 👍

    I really liked the way Nesmuk wrote. It more story telling than kephart.

    Really like your videos trying to get something you have. Where did you get your sheath for your bk9 at. Going to get me a bk9 but like to have a sheath like yours.

      Painted Hills Custom Leather, here in my home town. Just type it in Google and information will come up. She does excellent work and makes all my Custom Leather sheaths.

    What are your thoughts on putting fire by the rock as you did, heating the rock, then moving it away and setting in camp between rock and fire? Ground would have been warmed ( potentially add stones for additional warmth).

    • @ochocobushcraft1742
      @ochocobushcraft1742  Před 5 měsíci

      Warmth would have lasted a while, but that cold wind would have cooled it down eventually, and no trees to fasten a ridgeline to for tarp. Good thinking, and I have done that for a short few hour camp before.

      I don't own one of that design. I do own a Kephart, which I like very much. This video was just about his shelter he carried. I plan to show different aspects of Kephart, Nessmuk, and Kreps wisdom they used in the wilderness.
