Tacoma Transmission Flush
Flushed my transmission on my truck. It was a pretty simple job, but definitely takes some time. 35,000 miles later and the truck is running great with 0 transmission issues.

Crawling and Cruising
zhlédnutí 16KPřed 9 lety
Trip out to badlands back in June of 2014 with some friends. The Silver Tacoma is Solid Axel Swapped and on 40" tires. The Red Tacoma (Mine) is on 35" Tires and the dark grey tacoma was on stock tires at the time. Had a blast and I am glad I finely posted this video up. At the end I was testing out the new shocks I had they are Icon with remote resis and CDC adjusters.
Tacomas on Crack
zhlédnutí 65KPřed 9 lety
This is one of the groups that did part of the Trifecta backwards. We had some of the relatively stock trucks and a couple of heavily modified trucks with us. In other videos from this same trip you can see one of our trucks roll and more on the clip where Jerry is nearly crushed.
Awesome Tacoma takes on the Golden Crack!

No not the drug. The Golden Crack in Moab Utah is a great place to test your off road vehicle. It isn't a complicated obstacle, but it can still be quite a challenge.
How to Change Pads and Rotors on a Tacoma

Custom built truck with huge flex.
zhlédnutí 339KPřed 10 lety
After Jerry navigated his way through the golden crack on 37s without lifting a tire it was time for a bigger challenge. Slightly down from the golden crack is a bigger gap that usually only trucks on 40s navigate. Well Jerry makes it look easy on 37s!
Dude my god get to the Fn point! Also if your making a video about changing the brake pads make it about only changing brake pads.... Don't need to hear about your dad's tundra or your under hood lights and everything else to talked about....
Just picked up a 2003😎
"Oh Yah"
Great video.... I don't see the link you mentioned for how to jump the two wires in the OBD II connector so can drain excess transmission fluid at the correct temperature. Thanks
What suspension is under this Taco in this video? Looks primarily stock! Maybe UCA's? Struts/coilovers? Pucks?
How is the park for full size trucks ? I wanna make a trip there real soon
So they have an SUV playground area with stuff to climb and short trails. You don't have too much to worry about there especially if you have sliders or armor of anykind. Without sliders you would want to be careful of high centering. On the other trails like green and orange pin striping from branches is highly likely. Right now before all the leaves come back it is less of an issue, Tacoma's and FJs are good size. Anything bigger you can get through the trails, but pinstriping becomes 100%. A full size pickup with full size bed would be a little too big for some areas. That f250 in the video had to stay behind on a couple of trails because of size.
I’ve got a 81 ford truck that a aftermarket transmission cooler line came off as I pulled out of my driveway. And it’s a mile down hill to the highway. When I tried to get on the highway all the truck could do was just get me across the road to the shoulder. I was able to replace the line and walk to Casey’s for oil. I don’t remember how many quarts I put in but I think I bought 8. It didn’t hurt it and is still running today 15 years later.
The life of an automatic transmission is in the filter and oil changes. They can last for years with the right maintenance.
At this point, it's no longer a Taco or a Yoda, it's just some Frankenstein shit someone put together on a Yoda frame.
What year is this ?
Truck is 2012, but would essentially be the same for 2005-2015
@@TunnelVision4x4 mine is 2001
I would do approx 1 qt at a time on the pump out.....then the pump in thr trans dont run dry.✌
Giving me the willies watching you under a jacked up truck and no supports and just hoping your hydraulic jack will hold . Get some supports under that axle just in case that jack of yours doesn't hold.
I totally agree and under almost every circumstance that is the right call. If you look at 6:07 the tires are actually on the ground. The jack was only lifting the axel an inch or so during the draining, if it fell there was no threat.
2:56
WOW!
Awesome!
well shit, why didn't I think of flushing some old fluid out the diff with new fluid...
👍🇺🇸
Every time you said god damn, it comes loose...!! Lol
What year is your tacoma?
2012
Just a heads up, the proper torque spec for the drain plug is 15 ft/lbs.
I bought a new transmission filter for my 2015 Toyota Tacoma 4.0l I’m also doing a transmission flush. Should I put my filter first then flush or flush them filter on?? What’s ur opinion on it?
Put the new filter in before you do the full fluid change. Drain and drop the pan, change the filter, button it jp, add in the amount that came out, then proceed with everything in the video. I usually cycle through the gears once before I take the outside hose off, but I don't know if that's necessary or not...
At 11:44, the sound that sounds kind of like a bearing spinning. Is that a normal expected sound? What is it? I've been researching for a while. My new to me 2013 does it and is louder when cold or when on brake and a little gas.
Listening to the engine sounds.. ..you do a hell of a lot better than 'bog standard petrol-head guys'. ..you're not a natural blonde.. ;) ..I bet you're a queen bee..
Be atf FL
Isn't there a maintenance mode that it need to be put in the properly set and check levels?
Chingon ,, nice video 👍
Great video!!!
According to my Toyota Dealer….. Generally under normal driving conditions it is recommended to service the Trans at every 80K miles, of course if you’re off-roading a lot and/or towing, you should be good at about 50K-60K mile change intervals.
I just hope she doesn't get too confident And try that without a spotter
Once you learn the line, you don't need a spotter! Hells gate is more scary than technical.
what females fail to understand about risk is sometimes you lose and get crippled hurt or dead.........they arent eqipped for that as well as men
You haven't master off roading if you still need a spotter
When breaking nuts/bolts loose, always position yourself to pull on the ratchet instead of pushing. Make things easier on yourself and reduce the chance of busting your knuckles.
Took my truck to the dealership to have this done and now my check engine light comes on. Taking it back tomorrow
Die not use torx
Your video is going to be a great help but i do not have a scan tool to check the temperature.... Can i use a simple laser thermometer on the pan itself?______ If i have to i will buy the scanner
Why is under filling better then over filling the diff ? You said that at the end of the video 🤔
It is my understanding that when a diff gets over filled it creates more pressure that can lead to leaks. If you park on a flat surface overfilling is somewhat difficult to do in the first place. This is because you fill until the fluid drains out of the fill hole.
Looks like you got a set of Goodyear wrangler Duratracks love them tires put them on all of my 4runners the Wrangler Ultra terrain are good tires also @0:22
Well,, either hit the gym or get a pipe and slip it over the wrench like I do, lol Always make sure the hex key is bottomed out in the plug. Use a hammer to tap it in and get it fully seated
Cool thanks for the tip. I'd kill to be back in the shape I was in when I filmed this. 5 Years ago.
Really cool vid when I was there I never tried the left climb I did the right tho. Great job all you guys no whisky throttle and no idiot spotters! One question, why was your ATRAC not working? Seems like it would have made a huge difference!
It's not my truck and I wasn't driving, so I can only assume it wasn't working, didn't have it, didn't want to, or forgot about it. Do you know when ATRAC started?
Awesome vid!! Just my $0.02, but I usually add about 1/4 to 1/2 of a quart (I usually do about 8 to 12 oz.) back to the transmission pan after draining excess from the check plug. This seems to be standard practice for some shops. I don't know if it is 100% necessary, but just something I do when I flush my transmission fluid. I have 250,000 miles on my 2009 Tacoma Prerunner with no issues!
Once the trans is at the proper temp, and level, the check plug is what you go by, there's no adding more fluid? The check plug IS the level.
The proper temp check spec is 97 - 115 degrees.
Thanks man! Everything I needed to know!
Good video thank. Recommend to use a breaking bar to remove difficult plugs other wise can damage your wrench
It's not a differential
To much bla bla bla 🙄
They are called socket head cap screws
That's insane
My knuckles were very nervous when he loosened the fill plug.
thank you for puting those part numbers good one
Can you tell us the name of the scan gauge you used (I.e., a link to it)? Thanks!
