    You should put on larger tires. LS400's have similar size wheel wells to an ISF and those guys are putting on 285 front and 315 rear tires. Just gotta stay stock height or shorter.

    Great video! I have the same issue showing up (lights flickering), however, just to be certain it wasn't a bad battery (which I got installed a few weeks ago at Sams Club) I charged the battery full, started the car, and when I revved the engine the voltage across the battery terminals went up to around 13.5V I believe. I took it for a spin (about 15-20 miles) and parked it. Later in the evening, I checked the voltage while revving the engine and the voltage across the battery terminals didn't go up anymore. I don't understand how that's possible unless there's a loose connection somewhere. Thoughts?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 6 dny

      So is your voltage consistent or inconsistent? It’s hard to tell from what you describe. Since the regulator is part of the ALT, any significant fluctuation can be an indicator of a bad ALT as well.

    • @pankajbhugra4426
      @pankajbhugra4426 Před 6 dny

      @@ForwardMomentum Well, I sort of rushed and didn't test the voltage for too long to confirm if it stayed at 13-ish consistently or not. Sorry about the confusion. I did go get the alternator tested at the AutoZone & they confirmed it was bad. I got home and checked the resistance between the positive and negative terminals, and it is about at 78k ohm (ideally should be close to 0 ohm) which tells me the alternator or voltage regulator is bad. I plan to open it up later this week, and check the voltage regulator. Again, since the alternator was charging the battery a couple days ago for however short duration I tested I'm still confident that the alternator winding is good, and the voltage regulator has gone bad which I'll try to change.

    Hey question, how much hp and rwhp are you making? And is there anyway I could do this build on stock automatic transmission and a stock ecu or would I need to piggyback my ecu?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 6 dny

      I have not dyno’d the car yet. Estimate is around 340-350whp. I would not advise this on a stock transmission. At a minimum you need a piggyback to control larger injectors. I have numerous videos on almost all of these topics. 👍

    • @Tarkyclips
      @Tarkyclips Před 6 dny

      @@ForwardMomentum i don’t know how to drive a manual I just want to build something with my gs400. I heard 500 - 550hp will then cause the transmission to fail. But if I need some other transmission thats automatic do you know which one would work with this supercharger build?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 6 dny

      I would strengthen your existing torque converter and transmission then. A place like IPT can help, but it’s going to cost you dearly to do all of this reliably, especially at those power goals. You’re looking at around $10K to hit 500+ HP. At that point I’d just buy a different car. Don’t forget, at those power levels you’re going to need better brakes, LSD, etc. It just never ends.

    • @Tarkyclips
      @Tarkyclips Před 6 dny

      @@ForwardMomentum Well no one said it was gonna be cheap! Guess imma just do my cosmetic changes fix up my interior and get back to this and see what I can do, might honestly do a manual swap like you did and learn how to drive a manual which doesn’t seem hard anyways. How would the ecu work with a manual transmission since I believe the ecu is still needed to use all the electronics on the vehicle.

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 6 dny

      I respectfully suggest you watch some prior videos as they answer your questions. You’re right, driving a manual is easily learned. You’ll get it no problem. If I had a simple answer for your ECU question I would just say it, but there’s a lot to it.

    Ok, now do one for a 2JZ lol. I really wish adding that style of supercharger was applicable to the 2JZ. I see guys run centrifugal, and do NA-T builds, but to me, nothing beats the whine of a supercharger. I did see a guy in Australia add one with a bird catcher on a 2JZ, it's a burnout car and super unusual to not go turbo but he was getting major power from it. Love your vids, makes me want to buy a 400 or 430. I've also contemplated a SC430, they're so ugly yet underappreciated with a fantastic motor.

    I just got a 1999 LS400 and I know its not the exact same process as what you've done with your GS, but it should be similar to get the results you did. I want to do a manual swap and Supercharge it without having to change rods or pistons. Can you explain what the system youre using to increase the intake noise is? I've never seen that before. What transmission and Supercharger should I go with in your opinion? I have seen the M90 M112 and TVS1900 mentioned in other videos. Making the car faster is great but I really like the supercharger in yours, it sounds amazing.

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 12 dny

      Hey - I have videos on just about everything you asked about. I have two-part video series on the intake amplifier. It’s basically an FM mic that broadcasts sound into your car stereo. I have since removed it because I went to a CAI that provides enough sound. I really cannot answer the SC question. The TVS is newer tech and more efficient, but can be more expensive than an M112. Same with the MT you go with. I don’t know your budget, so I cannot say. I like the AR5, but if you have tons of money, a Grannas 1UZ to T56 system would be ideal. My suggestion is to check out more videos and let me know if you have specific questions after watching them.

      @@ForwardMomentum thanks for the reply I'll check out the rest of your vids. I'm not looking to do any crazy high horsepower numbers I just want to wake the car up and make it fun with the manual gearbox and a respectable amount of boost on stock internals. I don't think that's too tall of an order for this platform.

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 12 dny

      It’s doable for sure. You can safely add 75-100WHP with that combo. But it’s going to cost you. I’d say a budget MT and SC combo will run around $8K these days, with a good clutch being nearly $1K of that cost. You probably have to ask yourself if that’s “worth it” to you as you’ll never get that investment back. For higher end offerings, including premium everything, you could be pushing well over $10K. Frankly, at that point, I might switch to a different platform. But to each his own.

    • @Elementaliti
      @Elementaliti Před 12 dny

      @@ForwardMomentum Unfortunately after passing $10K it would just make more sense to buy another car to me. I do love the 1UZ though. I might be able to get a little fun on a budget for this car if I can source some things from junkyards.

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 12 dny

      Yes, getting some things cheap makes sense, but only a couple things. For example, the MT adapter you’ll want billet. SC adapter, Elate. If you can find a decent junkyard MT and SC that will be about the only place you can skimp, saving you maybe $1K if you’re lucky. It really sucks because some of these other guys can load power using OTA data ports and we’re stuck doing things the hard way.

    So where is the chirp coming from exactly? The hydroboost pump assembly? Or the master itself? Does anyone know?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 28 dny

      It’s the accumulator motor case, commutator and brushes. Corrosion and direct contact of parts causes the noise. (I dissected the unit weeks after I shot the video).

    Hey, installing new injectors, is there a specific order they have to be installed in for each cylinder. Also what kind of tape is used around the injector foam coverings?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před 28 dny

      No order on this engine. I heard that the 3UZ might have “sides” but on the 1UZ VVTi it’s all the same P/N. Unsure of the tape for foam. I assume high heat. I just left it off my injectors. Pretty sure it’s for noise and I couldn’t care less about that.

    I have LS430 wheels on my GS, I might snag some and see if I like them. I love the 430 wheels so much, never plan on ditching them for aftermarket. OEM+ for life

  • @SunsetAlgorithm
    @SunsetAlgorithm Před měsícem

    I'd love a 430 because frankly no replacement for displacement, but I am not an aggressive or spirited driver in any way. I have a 300 with zero modifications to anything, not even exhaust. But I think that suits me, I love the dependability of a untouched (other than maintenance) engine. Other than the occasional CEL, which is quickly taken care of I know every time I turn that key I could take that car anywhere without hesitation. That being said, I have put a fair sum of money into the sound system. And as much as I'd like the roar of a V8, I love music so loud and clear I can feel it. My little granny gold 300 is long, sleek and low, and has the acceleration of a glacier lol.

    Are you thinking of upgrading your tires anytime soon? I think wider stickier tires would absolutely put the cherry on top of your sick build. It would definitely highlight your new power and diff.

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum Před měsícem

      Probably not. It had just rained for the first time in a week or so and the roads were damp and I was putting my foot in it. I suppose when it needs tires someday I’ll consider it, but these are expensive, highly-rated GY Eagle Sports.

      @@ForwardMomentum Loving all the GS content man. I wanted to chime in and give my experience on the GY eagle sports. I had been running these on my 430 for quite some time until I finally moved over to the Continental DWS06 Plus and more recently to the Yokohama Advan Fleva's. I can say without a doubt either of the afformentioned tires are MILES ahead of the Goodyears in nearly every way. The Advans, def not in the wet, but I don't daily my GS anymore so that's the reason for the switch. But the Continentals in the dry and wet are phenomenal. It was (at the time after the GY's) the only tire that would hook almost instantaneously from a 2300 dig. I smoked the GY's everytime in that situation. In any case, thanks for always making great content for our cars. I really love your channel and commitment to detail in all if your videos.
