This is very nice for those who want their soundbar always on with the tv. Personally I have my sounbar set to turn on only when I turn on my 4k Blu-ray player, which does the same with volume and also powers on the tv and power everything down from one remote. Great info though 👍

This video is very confusing. The OP starts off by connecting the soundbar to via the optical cable and then proceeds to start discussing the quality of HDMI cables. Then she shows a HDMI cable coming out of the HDMI ARC port and shows how the TV's remote will work with the soundbar. The reviewer mentions nothing about a TV's HDMI ARC port (which is important).
Couple of other things wrong here:
1. Using an optical cable from TV to soundbar will necessitate you having to use the soundbar's remote to control volume and the TV remote to control the TV. Generally sound sent via optical cable is fixed (i.e. non-variable).
2. Using a HDMI cable (via HDMI ARC port on TV) would work however many TV HDMI ARC ports only send out 2.0 signal so if you're using a soundbar with a center channel or other speakers (surround sound and/or subwoofer) the TV's HDMI ARC port will not send surround sound signal ).

@@allar4323 I've got a Sony a80j with a Samsung Q900A... and extremely frustratingly, through the eARC, I *cannot* get the damn Sony remote to control the volume for the soundbar. Everything else works well except that and it's unbelievably annoying :( :( Really seems like a bug somewhere.

Informative, But......... I have a Samsung TV but my sound bar is from a different manufacturer. Thus, two remotes to watch tv. How can I operate both tv and sound bar plus my other devices (Apple TV box, Amazon Fire TV and a combo VCR/DVR player)?
Have you tried the Harmony Ultimate Remote? It allows you to use one remote
No I haven’t. At $250 it seems like a lot to spend just to get to one remote. It does look like it would solve the problem, but it’s expensive.
If you have an older Samsung tv and it’s not working because the tv says use external remote - you need to have optical connected to both devices, then connect hdmi arc on soundbar but connect other end to regular hdmi on tv. Enable anynet+/cec in tv menu, external speaker, and use buttons on top the soundbar to select Din (digital in) on soundbar. This will work guys.

My sound bar doesn’t have words on it, only an indicator to say if it’s on or off. Is there no way to indicate the volume level of the sound bar on the tv?

I can get it to turn the sound bar on and off, but I can’t get the Samsung remote to control the actual volume. It wants to only control the volume on the actual television.

Note about HDMI cables, HDMI is a digital signal, just make sure you get a cable that is under the HDMI spec you want to use and you're golden. Expensive cables promising higher quality are nothing but scams.

You connected a digital optical cable into your sound bar, but you didn't show where you connected the other end....the TV I assume?
You show a ethernet HDMI cable coming out of the wall plugging it into your tv...what is on the other end of the HDMI cable, what is it connected to?
missed a great opportunity to be really helpful. most folks receive their tv through a cable box and want to control the volume of the soundbar through their cable box remote----not a separate remote-----that is the video that should have been made.

Ok so, intro is too long. But.... As a long time tech nerd, I didn't realize that HDMI on. Tvs worked that way. Plug a sidechanel into the inline, and all is well.
