How to use TV remote control for TV and Soundbar or Home Theatre

- First, I have to say that you won't need to buy a special remote control to be able to control both the TV and Soundbar or home theatre. I found this solution accidently but trying the HDMI cable. If you have watched my other tutorials on how to connect the soundbar to TV using Aux, Optical or HDMI cable, you already know how to connect. The most important thing that I missed was that by using HDMI cable and connecting it to your HDMI TV ARC on both the soundbar/home theatre and the TV, you could control your soundbar's volume by using your TV's remote control!
If you still can't control your soundbar using your TV's remote control, please make sure you've connected an HDMI cable that supports ARC, that's HDMI version 1.3/1.4 and higher!

I was hoping too learn how to get the repeater function to work, but clearly no one talks about that.
My TV is so low that this sound bar does actually cover the signal going to the tv so I have to move the tv to switch it on and off. I only got a optical cable in my box. There is a little infra red light behind the bar which is labelled repeater on the paperwork, but I cant get that to work...

Hi, what do i do if my speakers dont have port for hdmi arc? i tried to buy optical cable digital to analog converter and connected it to my speakers, the sound works but i still wont be able to control the speaker volume with my tv remote :(

What if we don't have those options in Samsung TV.? Any help for controlling the aux external speakers by tv volume control, using tv remote or fire tv remote? Coz fire tv remote doesn't recognise my external speaker completely. It can only turn it off and vol down works to increase vol, and it does mute sound. How to control it?

Side note cheap high-speed hdmi cord that came with cheap TV caused need of 2 remotes... replacement hdmi cord & only 1 remote needed

Hi. It seems your soundbar is sending the wrong signal to the TV. In the above video, I've shown you how to use the TV's remote control your soundbar's volume - in this way, you won't need to use the soundbar's remote control, hence problem solved!

My soundbar only has an optical cable port. Is there an adapter that I can get so I can connect to HDMI???
Does your soundbar got an optical port? Are you sure your TV doesn't have an HDMI port? Even if you connect your TV using an optical cable to an adapter and then to soundbar using HDMI cable, you won't be able to use the TV's remove control. This is because optical cable won't be able to carry all the necessary signals & it's only one way. So, optical cable will be the weak link/bottleneck, and doesn't matter what you connect it to, as soon as signals go through the optical cable, it'll be lost.

I also have Sony TV with Samsung bar. The issue I have with the Arc to control the volume from Sony remote is it seems to be out of sync and will stop turning the bar up or down after a few clicks. Do you have this issue with your combo, and if so, have you been able to overcome it without a second remote?

Without HDMI your TV won't be able to send the signal to the soundbar to control it.

@bhupindertube arc is supported on tvs from 2009 or newer. Older hdmi tvs don't support arc. I followed your video properly thank you very much.

That is an interesting point. As far as I am aware optical doesn't support 2 ways transmission.
Mine was hooked up optical and was using TV remote. I relocated sound bar to basement, now I can't program it to TV remote via optical. So weird it worked b4
