  • r/Pettyrevenge Here's some life advice for you. If you're planning on dining and dashing at a restaurant, make sure that the server doesn't go to school with you and know your name. And on top of that, definitely make sure that the restaurant owner doesn't go to church with your grandma... because the owner might just call your dear old grandma and tell her that you've been very bad.

That smart phone one recalls a humble story when I found one two years. Went to Best Buy, and before I parked, I noticed the lens flare of the phone on the spot. Got out and couldn’t believe it was an actual smart phone, so I did my shopping and plugged my phone upon driving back. The thing was DEAD from being out in the sun so long, and it took almost 10 minutes to finally start charging.
I saw it was from TMobile, and decided to head to the closest one to drop it off so they could contact the owner somehow. Got a call literally as I pulled into the store, the owner.
We agreed to meet up at the local library, and the guy was so grateful that he gave me $50 for the trouble. I tried to decline it, but he insisted, and plus turns out he was a motivational speaker so he encouraged me for it.
Not entitled or anything, but may as well add something nice to cheer up anyone who felt SOUR for that smart phone bitch.

This time I did not, that's where it get good.
When we got the house, sure enough he booked it to the house, giving me the middle finger as he slammed the door. He thought that a white guy would not go knock on The door on the res, late at night with a party Going on.,the only problem was the owner of the home, and one of the band's elders, was a family friend,I have known him ,and his kids, since I was a boy.Over twenty years,We partied and went to school together when we where teens, this is why I did not ask him if he had money .I went to the door, knocked and walked in. His expression on his face when everyone at the party said hello, hand shakes and hugs .Then I pointed him out and told his whole extended family what he did .Public humiliation is the best revenge.

If that'd been my grandchild that dined & dashed, he would NEVER hear the end of it. There would be a LENGTHY discussion about how he'd brought shame on the entire family, how did he think his parents felt being known in the community as ppl who'd raised a thief, how I was now unable to trust him to do the right thing or conduct himself with moral integrity, and that he'd have a LOT of work to do, in order to earn back my trust, his parents' trust & that of the community. I'd tell him he would never be able to undo what he'd done, but that I was giving him the opportunity to redeem himself and hoped he wouldn't disappoint me again.
I would lay it on THICK. No child or grandchild of mine would be getting off lightly for thievery.

I wouldn't teach my child/grandchild that the opinion of others about him/her are of major importance. That made generations of people, that just hadn't been like the desired norm, very desperate and unhappy. Living their lives lying about their feelings, personality, tastes, sexuality and so on. Just to be accepted by others, constantly doubting themselves (questioning yourself is good! But doubt...not so much.).
I also would not teach him/her that one family member could ruin the reputation of the whole family. People are individuals and not the same as their relatives.
I also wouldn't want them to believe that they can never make a mistake and get over it.
I would however definitely make clear how disappointed I am, how stupid and disgusting and... stupid their action was, would ask what they think how that would have been funny, how they would felt if someone did that to them.
I would attempt to teach them to not want to pull such stuff, out of respect for others. Out of understanding of other peoples rights, feelings and situation.
And NOT just because to not look like a bad person to the community....

I had a problem with a high school sports team back when I worked food service (fast food). This was about 8 years ago.
It was the lacrosse team, and they didn't dine and dash. They covered my dining area in mud (they puddle-jumped for victory at the field), and stole two of our chairs.
When the GM talked to their Coach, he told her to "suck it up, because they're a championship team," (paraphrasing) and the thieves were the star players. Suffice it to say, those two kids were looking at an athletic scholarship, and the Coach wasn't going to do anything to mess that up for himself.
So the Owners showed the security camera footage to the school's Athletic Director, and told them if something wasn't done, the Owners would be pressing charges of theft against the kids, and sending the footage/story to local news outlets. To top it off, all members of the team were individually banned from the restaurant for as long as it remained open.
The Director caved. The Coach was fired for negligence. The kids brought back the chairs and were personally told by the Owners that they were banned from even the drive through. And the team was pulled from all further games that season. The kids still got their scholarships, but not to their first-pick schools.

Back when my little sister was in high school she was "kidnapped" by the women's soccer team after she made the roster. Her and the two other new recruits were taken out to an early morning breakfast at a 24hr diner. When it came time to pay the bill, her new teammates got up and ran for the door. Pealing out of the parking lot and leaving the new recruits with a massive bill and no transport at like 5am.
I really don't know what these girls were thinking. That these freshmen would just have $200 on them and they'd all have a laugh later with no consequences?
Needless to say that is not what happened. The restaurant was reasonably pissed off and called the school and the parents of the girls who were still there. The team was banned from the restaurant, the school had to pay for their meals, and I think the girls were fined and possibly suspended. Not including the coach's punishment of sprints...for the full 3 hour practice (minus the girls who stayed). Yeah, don't ever get on a coach's bad side.

She told this kid to leave our table at an after school thing because he was being rude and annoying. He walked away without arguing and smiling and sat with his other friends. Later that day, her and her friend were called into a separate room. Her friend was called first even though he wasn't even present when it went down and she was called in after him. Apparently, the guy at the beginning ran to a teacher and told a messed up story about her where she was bullying him. And the teacher didn't even listen to her side. So, the teacher did the only logical thing and told her mom. Little did the teacher know, my friend's sister was sitting right next to her when the argument started and I hope she told the actual story of what happened.

So I picked it up and started sifting through it, and called the entry labeled "mom". Nice older woman answers, I explain the situation and say if she can get in touch with whoever owns it we can arrange a pickup. The phone gets a call a few minutes later and this girl just starts laying into me about how I stole her phone, that she's going to get me arrested. And I'm like look I found your phone in the park and I'm trying to return it to you. I didn't steal it, you just lost it. Do you want it back or not? And she just doubles down, like "Oh when I find you you're getting arrested for theft." So I straight up say look you dumb bitch why would a thief call your mom and try to get your phone back to you? You know what, your stupid attitude just lost you your phone. I hung up on her, called her mom back, explained what her daughter had done, then just said "Because of that I'm chucking her phone in the river. Tell her to be polite next time."

So when my co workers and mangers started getting pregnant, I would have to do extra work because Brenda was feeling a little nauseous or light headed. When I got “light headed” or “nauseous” I was told well your fine to work. I said “well tell your pregnant workers that too” I left the job 2 minutes after they had the audacity to tell me my same sickness is not comparable to a pregnant woman. One, was when it was a group of teenagers around high school age. They made a very obvious run for the door and their car battery was dead. So, yeah that ended well for them. Second one was when a guy in his mid 20s? Was alone at a bar top seat, he decided to dash while there were about 5 cops in there having breakfast. He was caught almost immediately also. So yeah. Maybe it was a bit mean but whatever. He still never learned his lesson and if any new person asked which people they could ask to change/switch shifts we always said not to ask him.

The thing then was that if you asked them to switch shifts, then you had to work one of their shifts,to repay them. I remember an incident like the one with the necklace where the teacher was the oblivious one who didn’t bother to ask me my side of the story.
I was a shy mostly English girl in a French school. I was behind as we couldn’t speak French in my house because I had a brother who was autistic and speaking a different language could confuse him as he already had trouble in understanding. So safe to say, I was a little bit behind everyone else in my French language skills.
Sadly, I also had issues with tonsillitis, like four weeks out of every school year for like 4 years. This left me even more behind and my confidence took a beating because I couldn’t keep up.
Well, the other students decided I was the perfect target. They would bully and harass me at every turn. The most annoying and harmful thing they did wasn’t even physical. It was them trying to get me into trouble by putting their property in my bag then claiming I stole it. Much of the time I would find it before they could say anything to the teacher and then I’d just move it to either one of the random bully’s stuff or in the middle of the floor. If it got one of them into trouble in the end, I couldn’t really care less at the time because I was fed up with them.
With all of these things happening I would have full on panic attacks when it came to having to do homework because I was so behind and especially when I had to go to school. Like near full on meltdowns. Nothing violent but I was just that terrified.
The worse incident was when one of them said they lost their earrings and another claimed I had put the other girl’s earrings in the garbage.
Now, the teacher, being the bright intelligent person she was, assumed that if that girl said I put them in the garbage then that must be what happened... no matter what I said.
So, she yelled at me, tried to get me to tell her why I did it, tried to get me to apologize. Then, when I kept saying I didn’t do it, she said if she found it in the garbage I would be in trouble.
Safe to say she found them in the garbage (shocker), and proceeded to scream at me more. She yelled at me, with no thought that maybe the girl who said I had put the earrings in the garbage may have been the one to put them there, until I finally gave in and apologized for something I didn’t do.
I went home feeling defeated after that and woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare screaming over and over that I didn’t do it. My parents knew right well that I wasn’t that kind of kid and were livid at the school’s behaviour and the fact that that behaviour was giving me horrendous nightmares.
They went into the school the next day and teamed out the principle. Nothing huge came of it, at least nothing that I can remember, but I was pulled out of the school a year or so later. The worst part of that was that the principle called my mom to tell her that I would never make any friends at the new school.
Safe to say she was wrong, of course, and when I got there I found out two of my closest friends went to that school. It was fantastic.
It took me a year or two to catch up because I was so behind. Once I got caught up though I became a near straight A student and graduated with 3 college degrees of 4.0 averages.
I learned recently that if you mention being in a crappy French school in my city, most people ask if you went to that school. Apparently the school was known for leaving students horribly behind and them having to be caught up when they got out of that school. Kind of glad I’m not the only one who ended up behind though I wish no one had to go through that at all.
I saw the teacher who yelled at me a few years ago and wanted so bad to say something but I still have such horrible anxiety that I couldn’t do it. She made a very horrible mark on me that may take a long time to get rid of. I can’t handle people yelling and have panic attacks even if the yelling isn’t directed at me.

In the end he offered to overnight it to them ,which they happily accepted. So he did, at the most expensive rate he could get for a c.o.d. package.
For those unfamiliar, c.o.d. is cash on delivery meaning, the owner had to pay the very expensive postage before they could get their phone back. Also, he requested the recipient be required to pay only with a cashier's check or money order for postage. (it's an option when sending c.o.d. packages)

One of our youth leaders absolutely ripped into them about how waitresses aren't paid very much, how they rely on tips, and how the kids shouldn't be on a missions trip if they aren't willing to be kind to the people who are serving them, especially since she had every right to refuse such a large group so close to closing. One of the kids was a notoriously rude and stuck-up guy who was constantly creepy towards the girls in our group and rude to people he deemed as less than himself. It was pretty fun to watch. I would LOVE to see the art provided to that hospital. Some stuff just has to be seen... Too bad that the one who posted that story doesn't have any pictures... or maybe he/she does?

My mom is a teacher and she is one of the good ones, she listens to both students and hates when other teachers do that because innocent kids are getting in trouble

I have no clue about "the red thread" so I'm sure I missed out on something devilishly awesome.
    Unplanned pregnancy story...very satisfying!
    I'm having R/PuppyBloopers withdrawals!

The Red Thread is the East Asian version of finding your soulmate. According to lore, you and your lover are connected by a literal red thread that can never break. This was a basic explanation of what the red thread means.

If I was OP in the final story I would have said "Tomorrow is the only day i get to sleep it, sorry" rubbing it back in her face. Accident Pregnancy does "not" entitle you to get out of things after treating your fellow co-workers like crap. So Moral of the Story Kiddies, don't be like Nurse Karen and actually help those who need it if you do not have plans yourself. Scratch another's back means yours will get scratched in returned.

As someone who went to a regional arts highschool... the Red String petty revenge is very on brand for creative teenagers.
I had an assignment once where we had to design clothing for either the statue of David or Santa. I chose to give Santa a string bikini that said "Ho" on each breast of the bikini and the bikini bottoms. My art teacher, rather disturbed, begrudgingly gave me an A for my "realistic anatomy shading"
