Powerstroke, 7.3 Glow Plug Relay Test

  • On a 7.3L Powerstroke, if you suspect the glow plug relay is bad, chances are it is. This is super common. If you want to be thorough and test it to make sure, this is a good test to perform.

    Thanks for the video the light covers the screen I can't see the last number but the video makes perfect sense when it doesn't go near to zero that's when my glow plug relay is out

    Hi. What if the voltage going to glow plug is only 9v. Do i need to change my relay?

    I'm not getting an pcm ground to my relay think it's pcm or wire or way I can test it?

    Very nice and simple. What's the spigot used for on the heater core hose.

      Makes the AC work efficient due to the stop of hot coolant to the heater core when the AC is running.

    I hooked my black lead to the battery, and the red to the glow plug side.i had battery voltage, but as soon as I turn the key to wait to start. It dropped to 10 volts, does that mean it's bad?

      Yes - It should read barely any volts, in the 0.1 range.

      And mine only dropped to from 12.25 volts to 12.09 volts ...
      That's also time to replace it??
