    Man props to the owner actually modding the car to handle and not just make it a highway car like you see so many of these are. Glad he didn't tune it either. The stock power is more than enough

      the car handles decent stock and taking a car to the track isn't what 99% of people do.

    Building a proper track car for a average track racer. This is a very smart way to go. Chasis balance and responde is key. Along with tires and brakes. Love this build!

    Very good video. A lot of people (myself included) have spent major $$$ building hardcore track cars that unlike this owner spent most time on the street, where the car falls short and frankly is not pleasant. Its a reminder how making a track car and a street sports car are two different things and few cars can close that gap (some Porsches, C8, Type R, Camaro SS 1LE).

      Well, I don't really drive my car on the street anymore unless im going to car meets. And yes, pretty much any car that's still registered and doesn't require a trailer to the track will be a better dual purpose car than mine IMO.

      ​@haowang5997 thanks for lending your car to Zygrene. I actually was saying that owners who modify their car should use it a lot on the track, which you clearly do (and I didnt enough to justify the compromise). Love the build, mean as hell. Keep tracking and enjoying it

    I like the build . I believe in modding for handing and braking as well. I modded everything on my car plus added a bunch of power. Won’t lie it was more fun with less power .

    With a catless downpipe and no tune, the good news is that you've actually lost power! With an adjustable suspension like this, there is no excuse to dial it down and enjoy it on the street. Put the stock downpipe on, or get a proper tune.

    From all I've seen online it seems like this vehicle needs aftermarket spring rates to better connect the front and rear end. Is this something that can be accomplished through aftermarket or is this just an inherent flaw with the vehicle? I wonder if there is actually a balance between track work and a comfortable street experience at legal speeds.

      it can be corrected in the aftermarket rather easily. The biggest issue is the rear bumpsteer. Which is also fixed in the aftermarket. SPL & Verkline has options to address it

      It’s not a flaw the car was engineered with the oem pilot super sport in mind while using road camber and toe setting to get the best compromise in performance and comfort but once you go after market more aero and track alignment with fatter and grippier tires you can’t expect the stock shocks and spring rate to cope it will definitely bottom out.

    Is Hal tracking this monster? If so, what are his lap times at Sonoma or Thunder Hill? It wouldn't be that hard to coax another 150hp out of that B 58, and by all indications this chassis can more than handle it. That said, it would require a serious tune to keep 550 hp linear and accessible. I'm sure the shock damping can be easily adjusted for the street. The spring rates, not so much. Looking forward to seeing this beast unleashed on a track.

      Hi, Hao here. Yes, I do track the car, but I have been mainly going to Sonoma and Laguna since im too lazy to drive all the way to Thunderhill or BW. I'm on the slow side, was doing low 150 at Sonoma, believe that the car is capable of doing 145 with proper driver behind the wheel. We will probably figure that out shortly as we are planning something out. As far as tune, newer BMW ECU can only be unlocked by a company in Finland, and the unlock alone will cost about $3500 which I feel is a bit too much (plus the tune, we are looking at ~$5000). and the car in its stock form is much more capable than I am as the driver so im waiting for a cheaper solution while getting myself more seat time at the track. And yes, around 500hp at the wheel is the goal for the current setup without any additional mods to the car.

      @@haowang5997 Everything you said makes perfect sense. One step at a time is the best way to improve your skills and your car. Fortunately, that work is never done. A few years ago Fenton reviewed my Open Class Datsun 510 build, and I really appreciated his honest feedback. Since than its been dialed in with countless chassis mods, and engine upgrades. That car will never be finished, because there's always room for improvement. The payoff is enjoying the fruits of your labor (so far). Here's to quicker lap times ahead.

      @@Reptil33 never been to Laguna with the mods, did a 1:42 with my stock car with 265/285 SC3 tire and brake pads alone a while back. The current setup should do 1:35 easily with the right driver

      @@Datsun510zen Totally, I feel like I have gone too far as for mods already. The car has been improving way too fast than me as the driver, but I'll stick with it and try to keep up with the car before I do the power mods. The only supra builds I would consider done now are Will's purple supra and Jackie Ding's supra. And im confident that I will never reach the level they have done in building the car and their driving as well.

    Does the Supra feel like you are actually driving in the car like the Gr86? Or does it feel like you are on top?

      With the bucket seat, I feel like I'm sitting in a bathtub. And much further from the windshield compared to GR86.

      Why? It’s a track car and unless it’s doing 2 lap TA, heat and unreliability go through the roof with power. “Only” 450hp GT4 race cars will wreck most 600hp+ street cars in lap times because of the type of prep this car is getting (GT4 race cars are just even more extreme).
