- A week ago, The Verge uploaded the worst PC build guide of all time. After Verge turned off comments and likes/dislikes, they eventually deleted the video. But the Internet never forgets!!

Couple of things I want to clarify, since I see a lot of the same comments. Almost a year later.
1. Critiquing this tutorial does not make me racist. It's sad this even has to be said.
2. If it was just a normal everyday CZcamsr, I would not be as hard or nitpicky as I'm being in this video. However, this is a big publication with paid sponsors. They (all 13 of them) should have done their research prior to putting out a tutorial. Some of these mistakes are dangerous.
3. The memory is in fact not taking advantage of the dual channel. This mobo's DIMM slots are B1, B2, A1, A2 for dual channel it needs to be in B2 and A2 (or 2 and 4) As for it not reading all 16GB, I wish I would have been more clear. Older mobos used to have this problem, some newer mobos don't (it varies from mobo to mobo), although if not in the correct DIMM Slots the PC might not post at all, again depends on the mobo. Which is why I said I wondered if it would read all 16. This was my mistake and one I wish I would have elaborated further on.
4. Anti-static bracelet is needed to protect the components. My comment was directed at him saying "it protects YOU". Which is why I said YOU don't need protection, your components do, you do not.
5. His M.2 drive. I understand M.2 SATA is the same speed as any other SSD SATA drive. He said he had an M.2 NVME so my comments were based on what he said he had. Others have looked up the M.2 he is using and found it's not an NVME but just a normal SATA.
6. This is a reaction video, so to abide by fair use and avoid copyright I need to pause and discuss.
I dont think you are racist for commenting on this video. I just think you are unfunny and obnoxious. It would have been much more amusing without you saying anything.

As someone who has just built their first PC, I can confirm reading the manual is much better than watching this fool, I was cringing at every single mistake he made
@@conorstewart2214 every step was a mistake, it would be hard to do it more wrong apart from putting paste in the CPU socket or something.
when i built my first computer last year i literaly just checked the compatability with all the parts and just put it together with common sense. the only time i had to look in the manual was to see which dim slots i had to use and which headers to use for the reset/power buttons.

I mean they did. Dude was using a real screw driver. But instead they decided that telling people you need a swiss army knife (which is also wrong its a multi tool) that hopefully has a screw driver. Instead of just saying youll need a screw driver.

before I built my first computer, I had no idea what I was getting into. Now that I've seen this guy somehow manage to make his PC run, I realize that my first build was actually pretty good lol
Same, I feel a little bit better after watching this video I thought I made a mistake trying to build my own pc. It's been a year and she is running strong, I replaced her 240mm cpu cooler with a 360mm (Corsair H150i pro) with noctua fans and I got new her a new case (780T Corsair) with 3 140mm noctua fans and 1 120mm noctua fan.
@@emanuel7146 nicee, only thing I really needed to do to mine was swap the mobo, because retardo me ordered a micro atx mobo for a mid atx case, but hey, noobs make mistakes on their first go, unlike the guy in the video who tried his best to sound experienced. The case I wanted was the nzxt s340 because cables are easy to hide, for being a first build, I was actually really happy with the way it turned out

I built a cheap pc. Since amd is bringing out the new 3000 CPU series and new 3000 gpu, I'm gonna make a totally different build. It'll be a better build and I'll be able to upgrade it in the future. I mean my cheap build is fine, it can still do a decent job with games. But tbh I need a new makeover haha

I built my first PC using the manual and online instructions. Now knowing alittle more about building I'm glad I did, because I installed everything correctly. Most of this mistakes are easily avoided if you just read the instructions. Its embarrassing as he's a tech journalist and a so called expert in this field, yet he didn't install anything well,doesn't have any basic knowledge and the things that were installed/picked correctly were done so with incorrect logic so he just got lucky.
Its so irresponsible as he's potentially effecting how others may build their PC, which could cause them to ruin their parts.
Whats most infuriating is there was no apology or correction video, just a cocky, class shaming comment made by the guy.
Journalists nowadays dunno junk other than writing (or typing, rather) texts.
This is that guy that clearly is bullshitting the presentation in class, but everyone knows it and just wants them to sit down.

Here's the REASON why capital one sponsored this trainwreck. Think about it, after you get done frying your processor and hosing your power supply you're going to need replacement parts... Capital one would LOVE to have you buy new parts with one of their credit cards to replace the parts you just toasted by using that as an instructional video. It's actually a rather genius idea.

@@utrak Oh yeah, forgot about that one. My bad, you need hot glue to hold the gpu in the PCIe x16 slot. Though as he said you can use the PCIe x16 running at x2-8 speeds. Not like that slot could be used for crossfire or SLI later... Maybe even virtualization. Walmart thought that one through~ So they didn't add a second slot!

You know, I've never built a computer system in my life, but now that I've watched half a dozen of these reactions tearing into this poor fool's build... I think I've actually managed to pick up some helpful tips on how to do it (from the reactors, not the fool).

That thermal paste job looked like he was icing a cake. In fact, I would have found it satisfactory if he'd simply held up the thermal compound syringe and stated something like, "This is a single-use applicator pen for thermal compound, and all we do is simply apply it to the CPU...", then stands there for several seconds and gently applies the entire thing onto his CPU in a large swirl like a pile of dog poop before smashing that water cooler block on it.
Also, spends $2,000 on PC parts, but can't pony up the cash to buy a phillips head screwdriver. This was embarrassing to watch when it came out.

The further the video progresses, the more you want to walk up and tell him to step away from the PC before he breaks something, as he continues to fish around inside that case putting the PSU in backwards and caking the CPU.

How about a merit based college entry system so we don’t have to hand degrees out to people who can’t get jobs in the fields they SHOULD be qualified to do but end up with a job banging computer parts together like a drunk three year old all the while making at or close to a six figure salary that everyone knows your getting because you helped the company meet a diversity quota.

22:25 Actually a fresh Win10 install from an USB3.0 drive to an SSD really takes just a few minutes. And if the Win version on your flash drive is new enough, there will be no huge updates to download. Driver installation might be a different story, though.
You're right, at work I created an image server and we deploy custom images which takes a bit longer. I may have that in my head. I do know updates (downloading, installing, restarting, searching again etc..) does take around an hour. If I could retract what I said in the video about that I would. I think I was just floored at all the other mistakes.

@Joey: English is not my native language, I am a German. To me few, couple, several is all the same. In German we have "ein Paar" (two) "ein paar" (few/several). See the difference? Sure, but you can't hear it, "ein Paar" sounds exactly the same as "ein paar".

Earlier this year I built a computer for the first time. I really didn't know what I was doing but this guy makes my head hurt.
What’s more dangerous is a guy thinking he knows what he’s doing but has a little bit of knowledge over a cautious guy that knows he has limited knowledge and skill just now. This guy is the dangerous version. He’s the kind of guy who gets people killed in an emergency because he makes out he knows what is best when he knows as the saying goes sweet dam all because he passes off he’s in the know.

Bro, Im so glad I never watched this pc tutorial. I’m a first time pc builder and after watching the other one compared to this one I could immediately tell the difference in knowledge on how to correctly build one lol
