    I think this is going to be a car that is going to divides opinions. What do you think of the 11th gen Civic? Have they been too sensible with the styling? What are you thoughts on the false engine sound?

    I had a test drive of the Advance and was totally blown away! Performance, frugality, equipment, all is beautifully Honda engineered as usual! OK, so I'm a Honda afficianado anyway, but this baby is a beaut!

    Had a test drive and this car drives amazing. Honda F1 tech coming into road cars. Honda did studies of human behaviour and gear changes. Having the emulated gear changes makes the driver feel "better" and down to earth :) Interior quality is really good ( this is me comparing my current 69 Audi A4 avant black edition). The advance model is the one to go for. Heated seats, full digital display, matrix headlights, extra sound deadening, Bose audio.
    Plus not to forget Honda are #1 reliable on the charts for years on end. The 0-60 times have been proven on carwow as 6.9- which is very fast from the Honda rated 7.9 and 8.1.
    Was so impressed I placed an order few weeks back.

    Took a while for the understated styling to grow on me, that hybrid engine looks awesome, that interior looks good, I'm ok with the gear select buttons, same as what's in my 10th gen diesel civic, I just need to decide sport or advance model.

      Having had one for nearly 3 weeks, for me, the Advance’s extra features are all good and worth the extra. Full leather electric seats, panoramic sunroof, beefy Bose sound system, matrix headlights (a real boon for country night driving) Haven’t used the heated steering wheel much yet but I’m sure it will be worthwhile in the coming months.

  • @jdmguy44

  • @afcgeo882

    It’s interesting how Honda approached different markets with the Civic… North America got the hatchback and a sedan with no hybrid yet, but 4 different petrol engines: a 2.0 158hp, a 1.5 turbo with 180hp, a 1.5 with 200hp, and a 2.0 turbo that makes 315hp. The hybrid you reviewed is coming soon, however, in addition to all of the above.
    You’re right about the gear selector. The CRV hybrid had it and everyone hated it. The new CRV hybrid has a normal gear selector now. It’s silly they didn’t update the Civic with it… perhaps saving it for the refresh.

      No magic seats as this is still based on the 10g platform with extra inch wheelbase added for the battery under the rear passengers seats and slightly less boot space too than the 10g. I presume your coming from either the 8th or 9th gen civic with magic seats?

    Very interesting video. I have 1.6 CRDi I30 Sw 136 hp, 50000 km since 2021 and three times a problem with the service belt tensioner @15000 km, 30000 km and 50000 km. Too sad cause the car is lovely and has a low fuel consumption 46 mpg all around. But I need a reliable car, so I'll surely go to the Civic, Mazda 3 or Corolla.

    Great video as always Tish. I have test driven a Civic and it's clearly an excellent car but agree with you about the dashboard having a "chicken wire" look. I don't like the boot high loading lip either. The other thing that astonishes me is that the UK warranty is only 3 years, which seems rather mean these days, especially when Honda cars have such a good record for reliability. As a result I've decided to go for a Toyota Corolla Touring Sports instead but there is a six month wait for one. I also got a much better PCP APR on the Toyota.

    I see here in Europe, we’re stuck with the liftback hybrid version for the normal Civic (not that it matters to me). In a lot of other markets, they get a sedan version with small turbo engines, for example, a 1.5 turbo making 180hp for a lot of other markets, and an Si model in the USA/Canada making 200hp/260Nm and a 6MT. In the USA/Canada, you can also get a liftback, but with a small turbo engine and a 6MT or CVT.
    But I am quite excited for the new Civic Type R to be launched here in Europe.

    Another cracking review Tish. To me this looks like a tad toned down version of the Romulan Warbird styles of some of the previous models that in theory at least might prove to be more appealing to the wider demographic and it's arguably more practical as well. I like it but like you I'm unsure of the gear section buttons as I'm more old school but like you mention it should not take an age to get used to it. That dashboard with the chicken wire ventilation looks OK for me and the whole thing looks like a very well executed blending of modern and classic. I like it along with the physical controls that some manufacturers have decided to switch to touch operation, good lock with that if you're wearing your thicker warm gloves in the winter. For my creaky skeleton I might have to pass on it though, the boring SUV suites me better than the normal lower cars of just a few short years ago and I really miss them.

    • @bjcee
      @bjcee Před rokem +2

      Yes. I’ve shortlisted this one too. Although I might wait for the facelift in hopes they’ll make some more improvements. I can wait another two years. The other car I’m waiting for is the second facelift of the i30 due in late 2023. It’ll be the final hurrah for the i30 as we know it and have been told that it’s going to be a significant update. The hybrid drivetrain in the civic is such a temptation though. Don’t think i30 can compete in that aspect.
