NEW Honda Civic 2022 hatchback static review: the most desirable Civic yet?

  • Honda's new hatchback is not only one of the big reveals of the decade so far, but it could dethrone premium giants such as the VW Golf...
Why's that? Well, Honda has focused its efforts on toning down the hatchback's controversial styling while ramping up the level of tech available. There's a new infotainment system on the inside which is vastly improved over the old Civic, plus you now get even more sensors dotted around the outside of the car to prevent you from hitting things. The cabin is a step change, too, with a simple yet stylish aesthetic which does a superb job of making the interior feel like a stylish lounge. Not only does the new Civic make a great first impression, but it'll likely have some of the big hitters shaking in their boots.

    What is CarScore?
It's quite literally the new home of car reviews. We scour the web for the latest test drives from top car reviewers and websites, before allocating each review with a score out of 100. We then calculate a final number based on the average across all reviews, which will be the definitive car score. But that's not all: we'll provide our own independent review right here on CZcams and soon our very own website to give a little context to each score.

Civic and Corolla were always neck and neck until 2016 when Civic became a better driving car by far.

Absolutely! Unfortunately the company is closing down, but I wanted to keep things going on the video side.
CarScore is an idea I’ve had for a while now and feels great that I’ll be able to make it happen. Would love for you to stick around so you can see what’s on the horizon đŸ‘đŸ»

I wish so much that this was offered in the USA. I don’t want CVT or turbo. I want an NA Hybrid with no transmission and nice power and great MPGs, and this is it. Ughhh

Very keen to see how it works on the road, but I think it'll make the Civic feel more hi-tech than the 1.5-litre avilable in the US. And in times like these we need cars that keep us away from the fuel pumps! - Cam

Boring, boring, boring. We bought a '20 Coupe EX & '20 Hatchback Sport that we got immediately after seeing the Gen Xl (Retirement Home Favorite), 19 months ago.
We'll be looking for a more exciting Gen Xll in a few years, or else there's Mazda or Toyota.
(On our 3rd car, we went Lexus UX200, instead of a Civic.)

If you’re talking about redesigned boot hinges, it’s a pointer to just how unbelievably dull this new car is. Major disappointment. C’mon Honda!

Jeezus Colin it's a famiily hatchback, not a 1000hp bespoke supercar. What does anything else in this segment offer that's more exciting? A Golf or Focus is just as dull if we're looking at things from your perspective. You're forgetting that Honda also makes the Civic Type R, which is one of the best hot hatches in its class
