@@apdroidgeek1737 It was a joke. The real reason is the ref told me I could not shoot fire so long as the drone and fight was within 10 ft of the wall--which was most of the match. They wanted to prevent damage to and hazing of their $1,000,000 bullet-proof plexiglass.

Agreed; I'm sure he'll keep practicing. I bet he'll try to improve the drone too so it doesn't spit so much fuel that doesn't ignite. I'd like to see more fire, not unburned fuel. Seriously. I've got an inside sourced that even says he may try to write some more of the code on the vehicle to see if he can make it a little more stable and controllable. We'll see if he can pull through. Maybe next year.

The drone cannot use fire anywhere remotely near the arena walls, because it could damage the walls and cloud it over, reducing audience vision. That's why the Poison Arrow drone never went anywhere near the walls or used its flame. The ref was actually shouting "No Fire!" at the PA team.
Drones: not exciting, not aggressive, not distracting, 100% pointless

@@OwnedGolem I found the Chromefly drone that forgot about physics when they dropped their mass payload pretty funny. Dropped mass about 1/2 weight of drone, left thrust the same = drone flies up and crashes into the ceiling/walls

Honestly if they added a flame weapon to it it would probably be pretty effective. Trap the opponent then just roast it to death. Obviously you'd have to get better material than the plastic they were using but it seems like a decent enough idea

Why didn't the flying robot attacked when they were stuck on the wall?
The drone didn't attack because they didn't want to commit friendly fire, but they don't realize that as long as they start burning Mega Tento, then the plastic will do the rest of the work as it loves to burn. It was poor strategy, but the bot combo was good for Poison Arrow.
Robert Hamman I'm still willing to see somebody doing a great work by using two bots. I'm now watching Escape x Overdrive and Escape's second bot knocked itself on the wall right from the beginning and spent the rest of the fight head over feet.
Tento's strategy of covering is smart though, I actually thought they could have won. Maybe if they use one of these shocking spikes under their cover they can be succesful.
Yeah honestly, I see quite some potential in such fire drones, I just felt like they were totally not in control of the drone and therefore not having any impact on the battle
The only double-bots I've seen that seemed to do well was Pack Raptors, from way back when. Dunno if there's been any others that performed well, but Pack Raptors was on the right path with a double-bot, IMO; both identical and tough enough to get around the fact that each was only half the weight of their opponents.

Jeff The Killer it sucked, and worse yet was they always televised every match with it, which as you can tell from its design, was boring and a waste of a match slot.
When I saw the thumbnail I was like *"This is gonna be cool because this is the first time I saw a drone in the battle field"* but I end up disappointed lol

I've flewn a drone 3 times in my life and I would've done a better job at following the 4 foot wide ladybug
In battle bots (I think) they don’t make them fly too well because it won’t be fair if they fly too well
Well, little boy, your toy drones aren't the same as weaponized combat drones, they are much more complicated and have more weight
It's still good that they're allowing drones, though. They seem to suck now, but eventually someone will come up with a brilliant design that actually works. That day will be glorious.
Idea: they could use the drone as a disabling unit for spinners by dropping a fishing net
@@soda5862 - Entanglement devices like nets, wire, rope etc are banned in the rules. Flippers would win everything if spinners could be neutralised really easily.

Feels like Tento was built with the old arena in mind. Could've been a valid strategy to move their opponents into the pit, had they survived that long....

Right but I mean I think it should have went through by actually winning lol. It's nice that it got the wildcard, but this almost makes it seem like *because* it got the wildcard, they just gave the fight to poison arrow. I feel like they ignored the fact that Tento controlled the entire match and tento did no real damage, whereas Tendo knocked parts off Arrow lol. And this is coming from someone who isn't a big fan of the Winters or Tento or anything...
Justin F Because It is hiding the damage it is doing, it is very hard for the judges to actually tell what is going on. In the end, all tento did was take a tiny bit off of poison arrow’s armour.

i still don't get the point of Mega Tento
It's a weird design that hurt in end because the judges couldn't total the points properly. The plastic "head surrounds the body and when working keeps the other bot from moving. There is a drum spinner inside the plastic shell that can grind up the other robot. That's why that piece came off poison arrow. I think the head was damaged by the drun spinner on poison arrow since it was able to escape after the initial capture It's an old design that was upgraded and made heavier. maybe it's time to retire it.
It should trap the robot with the ladybug and make some damage with the drum spinner placed inside it, but it didn't work so well and did little to no damage at all
+drmayeda1 it's more of an iconic bot nowadays. Just like nightmare or warhead. Not very good anymore but kept around for the old school fans. Plus plan x was just a poorly designed and terrible looking bot

Mega Tento was (I think) the first bot to mock the other team, by ripping a green arrow in half, this would later be used by Ribbot in many fights, by looking like them, End Game against Ripperoni, by eating Pepperoni Pizza and by Ripperoni against Gruff, by writing Gruff as the customer on the bot.
Yep, Mega Tento defiantly deserved that wild card spot with a performance like that.

Agreed. It's progress. The "no flame within 10 ft of the arena walls" rule also made it tough for him (well, I actually) to shoot fire, since most of the fight was right by the walls.

That was a great tactic you used in the fight.
I loved that you your hopeful prediction is exactly what ended up happening. Your vertical spinner sent SOW flying while keeping Poison Arrow on the ground. They underestimated your bot and should have tried to come around behind you. That was their downfall, and that single blow you guys delivered ended the fight right then and there.
Honestly, their super serious demeanor made it even better. I don't know if it's just an act, but you gotta have fun while doing this, win or lose. I would have loved to see SOW continue on to more carnage with that awesome weapon, but your battle and win was fantastic.
There's are lots of bad comments but all in all it was a good battle and all you have to do is switch or school up your drone pilot.it is definitely not easy fling a drone with flames

Normally I wouldn’t blame drones for being less than effective, but when your opponent has a decent amount of plastic on them, and you have a flamethrower you’d think a drone could do something
Going against Mega Tento isn't a fight, it's just a massive annoyance. It doesn't even really have a weapon. It covers you up, and it has a small spinner inside that breaks after one hit. It's not even a fight because if it covers up anything besides a drum spinner, it is damaging itself.
The person is not making the bit to win, but only to recreate her old bot and have fun. I personally think that it’s kinda cool what they are doing ;-;

I don't know if i'm alone on this, but i'm not a big fan of the silent battles.
Being a new spectator to the sport, I have very little clue what's going on. However, the other videos i've seen with commentators are way more interesting.
These are the raw fights the ones that didn't air on tv because they were to boring. Go to the abc website for non silent fights

I think the lady bug shield acting as concealment while it devoured the robot inside was clever.
For everyone saying "Oh durr the drone was useless" I kind of agree, but look at those antennas! if the drone taps one of those, it's down! just look at the drone taken down by a rake for example of that. it takes nearly nothing to take down most drones. I think drones need to be at an angle with their fire to be effective.

ideas for useful drones:
1: Downward pointing spike (probably too heavy to be any real use)
2: Downward facing nail gun
3: Squirt fuel / lighter fluid while the main bot has a flame weapon
Liquids are banned by design guide rules. As well as glue, foam, nets, ropes or small balls. And that is justified since everybody want to see clash and destruction, not some tricky stuff.
Nail guns are allowed but limited by power so they can't damage arena plastic walls, so in reality they are not very practical.
You can't even do something like 4 drones connected with chains, form the square and land around enemy - robots can't be designed to be destructed after attack. And it is tricky to fit into weight limit for drones - 10 pounds max each.
So, drones are stupid. Waste of mass limit (250 pounds total). Could be useful only for show - fly around with taunts on banners, or spare spear for humanoid robot.
Is that a sandbox cover weaponized?
If Lisa enters mega tento she needs to make the grinder bigger and make the cover clear plastic to see the damage inside. I thought at first it had several rotating horizontal blades inside to chew up the robot.
I think the idea is to cover the other persons bot. So you can’t see it.

Apparently there was a rule where they couldn’t use fire within 10 ft of the plexiglass as to not melt it and obscure the view, and the ref kept saying “NO FIRE!” So there was never really a good window of opportunity.
I've always thought it would be cool if the just had a mechanism on one of the drones to just drop like a rock or something on the robots. You could destroy most spinner bots like that. Though it would be kinda hard to keep the weight limit and still have a good designed floor bot.
Maybe a like smaller floor bot and just a big drone that just drop rocks and other stuff,might be a dumb idea but I think it sounds cool

For everyone talking c*** about the drone. It couldn't get very close because of the antenna on top of the red bug. It would have destroyed the propellers so they kept it at a distance so they wouldn't have to repair it.
That was funny to see Mega Tento actually do something: Swallow the opponent whole! XD

Mega Tento may not be effective, but it's still a crowd pleaser because of the design like it had in the early 2000s when it was a lightweight.

The matches would be A LOT better if they had multiple people controlling the hazards rather than people from the teams themselves. I think I've seen the killsaws once in the 2 seasons so far in the reboot, and the pulverizers are meh at best. Then at least Mega Tento would be able to control the other bot over hazards and score points.

Yeah, Poison Arrow might be the same bot type as minotaur, but its spinner was subpar at best and useless at worst. Way too slow.

Luke Hart That drone was useless, for sure. Poison Arrow didn't seem to have any strong points, either, though. Look at the bot it was fighting: Mega Tento... a bot that has a tiny spinner inside the "cover" and nothing on the outside. Can you picture P.Arrow vs tombstone, Bronco, Minotaur, Shredanator or whoever else? :D

The problem with Mega Tento is that there isn't much to hit. Poison Arrow tore up the cover pretty well, but it was so floppy and flexible that PA's drum couldn't really bit into it. Minotaur would be unlikely to fare any better.
This has got to be the lamest fight.
I thought it was silly to bring an upgraded tento back. the mystery was gone. I hope to see them come up with something better for next year.
It has a drum hidden inside and the idea is to confuse the opponent so he can't drive reliably.

Two things:
1) That Bay Area Lesbian needs a new bot. That ladybug nonsense is dumb as fuck. It's not cute, it's annoying.
2) Whoever flew that drone needs to be fired. Immediately.
while not a fan of mega tento or lisa (the "bay area lesbian" you say), the concept is not that bad. it captures a smaller robot in the shell and grinds it with a vertical saw. however, this only works on smaller robots like poison arrow so i would agree that the robot isnt really that good. it did ok in this battle only because the opponent had a small, less powerful robot.
Mega tento is the most unique robot of all fighting robots. I don't like that they changed the rules and it changed the whole concept of her weapon.
