maybe because they thought razorback was dealing damage when he was being pinned to the walls and his spinner going against sawblazes's wedge. i wouldn't call that damage though, sawblaze clearly won with aggression and control.

Sawblade controlled the match, but Razorback actually did damage to Sawblade. It’s not enough to just push the other bot around the entire round. Also, it looks like Sawblade’s main weapon died partway through the match while Razorblade was fully operational at the end of the match.

As long as the competition isn't rigged, I'm fine with it. Besides, if you think that such a match can't be exciting, you haven't seen any of the fast-paced matches that happen at Robogames - MOST of the "box on wheels" designs are capable of hitting speeds of up to 20 MPH, and the heavyweights can easily cause the entire arena to shake when they slam against the walls. @nfsfanAndrew Před 4 lety +5

@@cassio2039 by points in 3 categories. Damage, control, and aggression. Saw blaze won control fight. However, in the rules aggression points can't be earned without use of an active weapon. Its like this to prevent hordes of wedgebots with no damaging weapons like in the old show. So saw blaze wedging razorback around isn't considered agressive. Also their saw was inactive very early on. So razorback won out because of the aggression and damage categories. Not because they did a lot of it but because their weapon was working and being used. And they probably gave razorback damage points for knocking saw blaze's weapon early on.

This fight was the most controversial match of the tournament. Between seasons we changed the judging definition of Aggressions to include: "Attacking with a wedge or other passive armor is considered to be a defensive action and does not count toward Aggression. Continuous attacks without using a powered weapon can reduce a Robot’s Aggression score."
We simply do NOT want fights to diminish into push fights. We want the robots to use their active weapons (be that a spinner, lifter, launcher, hammer, grappler, or whatever) SawBlaze won ALL the Control points and most of the Strategy points, but he did NO Damage and he was a wedge for the majority of the fight. The criteria is 3 for damage, 2 for control and 2 for aggression. The damage can be debateable but it was clearly saw blazing control the entire pace of the match and being hyper aggressive. Even if the damage was 0-3 to Razorback, it should’ve been 4-3 to the final score and saw blaze win...

My guess for this judgement is that Sawblaze's disc buckling after coming down on Razorback's drum spinner was seen by the judges as damage that Razorback inflicted on Sawblaze, hence the match being awarded to Razorback.
I still think Sawblaze should have won - it was the far more aggressive of the two competitors and controlled the fight magnificently

My best guess is that sawblaze didn't use it's weapon more than once, and considering that's how you get points then razorback (only technically) landed the most hits every time sawblaze pushed in. Its not based on driving or damage from the arena, but still razorback was not the most impressive one in this fight. Regardless rules are rules

Come to think of it, Razorback's only "damage" was to Sawblaze's appearance to the judges, because after the saw stopped working, all of Sawblaze's control, its complete ownership of the match, and Razorback's inability to seriously damage Sawblaze's body were negated.
    Flawless logic, people.

This is a tough one, because SawBlaze's weapon might have broken pretty early on while Razorback had practically no damage. I think I remember hearing something about needing an active weapon.

Not the most outrageous decision honestly. Razorback was totally undamaged while SawBlaze lost their primary weapon. SawBlaze shoved Razorback around the box the whole match, but it didn't really do any damage. Kind of tricky to determine how that should be judged.
