On the nopales style cactus you can remove a whole pad, pre-disinfect the whole pad, then cut it into nodes with a scalpel, then do final sterilizing of the explant nodes. This does not require special tools and is less likely to cause infection to the parent plant and explants.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. are you into cactus tissue culture?
That saves alot of time and energy knowing distilled water is sterile unopened. Awesome.
Uncle Ben's ready rice is pre sterilized and also straw pellets are already pasteurized. Grow 🍄 I can help
@MyCOWAVE〰SHROOMS I'm past the mushrooms.
I'm into plant tc now, thanks.
@@PollenSax Great, that you are in tissue culture now! So, you working on which plants?
I'd love to see Echeveria and sempervivums. No one has those on youtube. Also update videos on plants are cool to see. Looking forward to seeing how these cactus do. Thank you.
Thanks! We are trying our best to bring more educational videos for you. so, stay tuned!

Great video, m8ght gove this a try.
Thanks! Stay tuned for many such videos!
Thank you. I hope to try this. Cactus are great. Eventually I would like to figure out how to do tissue culture on Japanese maple.
plsease show some thing on Dieffenbachia
We have some videos lined up. We'll let you know if we get our hands on the plant to work with.
What a wonderful video! Would this protocol also work on Schlumbergera? Or is it too soft to be treated in the same way as other cacti?
It would also work for Christmas cactus.
Very informative! Thank you! I can confirm.. "the spikes in my hands are no fun!!"
haha!! Great you find it insightful!
I have a Thanksgiving cactus that is a very small plant. I've had it for 2 months, it's not growing. The leaves are a little floppy. Would I be wasting my time to try tissue culture on one of these leaves? Do you think it might grow in tissue culture even if the leaves aren't great?
Salvia Divinorum please
Hi Francisco, amazing job, what is the name of those scissors you used to cut off the areolas of the cactus?
That is pineapple eye remover.
could you possibly do one about citrus tissue culture ive been eager to start with citrus but am hesitating because of doubt about me understanding the process or what parts are best to do tissue culture with also if anyone in the comment has good info on this pls help me out great videos btw keep doing what you're doing
Sure! We will do it as we get our hands on the plant. Currently, we are experimenting with many plants in our lab, including cactus, carnivorous plants, and a range of houseplants.
@PlantCellTechnology update on cactus cultures?
They are doing well in our lab. With our TC masterclasses, we didn't get a chance to shoot an update video.
This is so informative and cool!! Thank you 😊
Great you found it insightful!
Pls have an update to this
We will convey this to Francisco. We're sure he is trying to bring as innovative and useful videos as he can. Thanks for your patience!
Would love to see this process for various parts of cannabis
Doing a Cannabis video is a bit difficult because of the legality issues. And Francisco is an expert in houseplants, carnivorous plants, and succulents.
hi! where did you finally put the tissues? what was that oily liquid in the jar in which tissues you put?
It's a sterilizing solution made of distilled water, bleach, and poly solvent 20 to clean and surface sterilize plant tissues.
after explants are sterilized, you put them in a sterilized, cooled, and solidified tissue culture media and keep them in a suitable environment for their growth.
I still curious about sterilizing the plate with alcohol and flame
Also I would change the plate with each catus
Can I use same method for for succulent
Yes, you can give it a try! But, better to look for a working protocol for the species you want to grow.
@@PlantCellTechnology thankyou
What are the components of this media please?
Full MS + BAP + IBA is what we used in the media.
I wonder what BAP concentration of yours is. is that 1mg/ml BAP solution?
In case you don't get an answer, I'm pretty sure it's a 1g per liter hormone solution to start, then he's adding 1.5ml of that to 1 liter of grow media. 0:22
Yes, that's correct!
How many new cacti does each cutting grow? 1?
Yes. Each explant give rise to one that can be further multiplied to obtain many others.
@@PlantCellTechnologythank you! I can’t wait to try it!!
@@CrystalDoddEnglish Happy culturing!
Love your content, I'm working with Pitahaya and it's crazy de multiplication rate.
Thank you so much for your love and support.
Which hormone are used for death palm tissue culture. please SMS messages me.
We aren't into date palm tissue culture. However, you can find a protocol in papers available online. Try searching "tissue culture of date palm". This should lead you to numerous relevant results.
Thanks for your reply.
get yourself an strainer.
haha. will do.
Wow. I want to try this!!!
Let me ask you a few questions🫠
Did you use agar powder..?
How much agar should I put in..
For solid media, you definitely need to use agar. For one liter of media, you need around 8 grams of agar.
Thank you for your answer.
happy to help! @@user-wj8md2ez6g
