yes Mr Miyagi/Pat Morita was and always will be one of the many amazing heros of our times and childhood it's hard to find any heroes like him around today. I found an interview of him on here and I was surprised to hear him speak normal English
You must have watched Karate Kid on DVD then. When I watched Karate Kid Avatar wasn't around. Heck, when I watched the first 3 the guy who voiced Aang wasn't even born!
I missed Pat. The first time I saw him as Arnold on Happy Days and a year later on Sanford and Son. The last time I saw him was in the final season of Family Matters. He did a great job in the Karate Kid movies RIP, Pat. 😢
What is sad is by today’s judgemental standards people would assume Miyagi is some type of weirdo or predator. Instead of the wise, kind, and sincere person his character was.
Not really, you're just creating an issue out of nothing. Quite sure people back then would of thought it weird too. In fact its shown in the movie by "look old man" and the general awkwardness shown by others in the movie towards the Miyagi-Daniel relationship. Mr Miyagi was the maintenance guy and became a father figure towards Daniel which his mother approved of, especially when she found Daniel coming home with a black eye - in reality what went down was super simple - Kid spending time with old man, mother checked it out and approved. It doesn't matter the year, decade or century a kid spending time with a random old man, somebody is gonna ask what's up? You seriously cannot tell me in any year nobody would bat an eye lid - to not do so I would call bad parenting. I would love to know who you'd let your kids hang around with without permission in the 80s lol.
Your judgemental standard* You are creating an afirmation out of a general idea. Like if every person would think that way... Dude I love wise people, I´m not talking about people who love hearing their own voice, but people who try to help you and you clearly can notice the good intentions and the experience or knowledge they have. I think the difference between a pretentious and a wise people is that the wise one is doing everything out of their reach to help you out and make things simpler, the pretencious one doesn´t even care about your answer or if you get the message at all, they just want to talk. And also! Tbh at the start of the movie we all saw Miyagi as a weirdo haha even Daniel was like what the fuck is wrong with this guy, until he started doing good unselfish actions for other people.
I wish I had a teacher, a mentor of his wisdom, when I was a kid. But wait, I think I did! Though it wasn't any one person, but rather a couple of influential people in my life. My parents for starters. My grandparents as well! And one or two really good teachers. The kind who can explain things in many different ways, so as to reach you and make you understand, instead of preaching just one way. But to notice, you have got to listen. Now I am in my 40s and a coach myself. I founded a racing academy, helping young and sometimes not so young adults become racing drivers. I also certify racing instructors. But I never stopped listening!
Would you have known this fact, had Tamlyn Tomita not introduced it to Cobra Kai? Many others wouldn't have known it either and Okinawans would have been afraid of using Uchinaguchi around non Okinawans, due to policies by Japanese that actively(and violently) discouraged use of Uchinaguchi. My great grandmother said we were Japanese, because she was raised in Okinawa, after LooChoo kingdom was forcibly dissolved.
@@illogicalmethod my friend is half Japanese so he taught me this a long time ago actually and the difference between Okinawan traditions too in some ways
What a lovely character, what a lovely actor, as well as for Ralph Macchio. Without this chemistry, Karate Kid does not last five months. They struck gold casting these two, and we have something that lasts forever.
Mr Miyagi, is my favourite character, he acts like a wise sage, guiding Saniel San throughout his martial arts journey, he reaches him the true meaning of karate, not to show off, boast or catapult oneself, to self perpetuate ones greatness, to be triumphant over those you have beaten or to win accolades, rewards, prestige, but to humble oneself, defend oneself or the ones you love, nearest and dearest from persecution or attack, to not feel you have to prove yourself , but to be strong in heart and mind, and at peace with yourself. Mr Miyagi isn't just an instructor on karate , but also an instructor on life, which I feel he passed onto Daniel San, you see a change in his character throughout the Karate Kid Films 1, 2 and 3.
Rest In Peace Pat Noriyuki Morita ( Aka Mr Miyagi) Thanks for all the memories, You were a legend, You Deserve this Beautiful Tribute to you as you were brill X God Bless You 🙏💔🙏
It’s a shame that after the tournament some of the cobra Kai guys all didn’t stick around to congratulate Daniel unlike Johnny who presented him with the trophy and said good fight larusso
Mr Miyagi the most overrated character of all time, as if a small guy like him in his 60s could take out 3 prime guys, including 2 students of Master Kim. It was the 80s do I get it. The writers in Cobra Kai, pander to Miyagi Do so much. Fans act like size matters with Kim Da Eun, but it's ok for Miyagi to beat so many top level young guys in their prime. Miyagi Do is the most overrated style of fighting I have ever seen. They should have called Cobra Kai, Miyagi Do because Cobra Kai are always made look weak and like the bad guys, when Miyagi Do aren't any better, awful writing in Cobra Kai.
Nah, Batman is the most overrated character of all time. I’ve never seen the newer versions of Karate Kid, but Miyagi is meant to be a wisened character with loads of experience, in a world of characters that want instant glory and fast victory. Daniel pushing at him to make him teach him everything he knows, but without all the time and understanding goes against Miyagi’s philosophy, and he tries to show him he’s taking the wrong approach. His victories against other meatheads aren’t hard for him, because the people he’s against just aren’t on the same level as him, mentally, despite their physicality. It’s not perfect writing, but it makes sense for what his character is about.
Imagine if Miyagi was still around during Cobra Kai. He was the heart and soul of the Karate Kid movies
Sadly he passed away in 2006.
