I spent 26 years as a GM service advisor. Over the past several years GM keeps looking for reasons not to warranty stuff.
Thanks for the review . You’ve brought up some great view points . Especially the leather seats vs cloth . The leaf springs popping noises. That’s new to me. Thanks for the review
I own the same truck 23 Pacific blue I have a little over 4,000 miles. I took a trip to MI 81/2 hours and I agree the seats could be a little softer. I love the infotainment but sometimes I have to wait while it’s warming up. I can adjust the bass and volume via Google. The fuel economy is excellent 27-30 MPG Hwy and 23-24 city. I drove over 800 miles on 1 tank of fuel. I have the power running boards and love them. The multi pro tail gate is heavy but It’s a feature I use often. Bottom line I love the truck and would highly recommend it. Oh I also installed the Bakflip hard cover.
I had all the Ram trucks, and the seats are more comfortable. I have a 2023 Chev High Country with the LZ0 myself and my best comparison of its driving comfort is comparable to a Ram 2500 with the Cummins 6.7. It feels heavy/sturdy driving but it also feels very capable and tows 15K lbs. I haven't had enough seat time to say it's uncomfortable yet. Regarding the Google issue you spoke about, Update GM N23-240012 is to correct the Google experience. That may help. I'd buy my truck again, so far...
Totally agree on not being able to see over the hood to park. Have to use the front camera to park, especially when pulling up to cars.
Sounds like you’re still getting used to the size and feel of your truck. Once you’ve been parking it for a few months near other vehicles you’ll learn the size of your trucks “limbs” like the back of your hand - the hood, how far the tailgate sticks out the rear, how far your side mirrors stick out, etc. until then you’ll rely on that camera which is also very useful imo. All vehicles of this size should have them as a safety precaution.
I think you’re spot on with seeing over the hood. My 3500 Dooley is just like that. The seats are firm for sure! I don’t get a sore butt or back on the long haul though. We’ve had four super duties since 2018, and my son still has his.Absolutely prefers the FORD seats! I’m like in the refinement in the GM truck, but absolutely will still consider a Ford. I think I just love trucks!
Totally agree on the 12 volt outlet thing. I've owned two Rivian R1Ts, and my current one ditched the interior 12 volt outlets. This is a PITA because I need that to run my RV rear facing camera screen.
I have the2022 Denali Ultimate. I love the seats and the electric running boards. The carbon fiber bed liner is a big plus.Love the assist handle in bed. Tailgate stereo system leaves a lot to be desired.I just took a long trip and avg 29.8 mpg. At one point saw 41.1mpg in the mountains.
good update, I read a lot of the comments and noticed no one mentioned how unsafe fueling gas cans in a truck bed. Static electricity will blow you up and everyone at the gas station.
Great update. I have a 21 Silverado LT with the 3.0 and I agree about the seats, they SUCK. I had a 2014 Silverado 1500 a few years back and they sucked equally lol. I am glad my 21 still has the 12v sockets too cant believe they took those out...
Great videos sir. The Amp reaserach steps are super fast. I have the same truck and the chrome steps are a pain to clean. The chrome scratches easy too if you dont step on the plastic pads. Also the steps are close to the rocker panel that gets kicked and scratched too.
Very nice truck. I agree with what you’re saying about the tall hood. I have a ‘22 2500HD and the hood is the same. Looks great but it’s super tall and makes you think you’re alot closer to an object in front of the truck. Also agree that the GMC’s look great in white.
We have same truck did a chrome delete with black wheels and topper love it
I have a new tri coat white ‘24 SRW 3500Ultimate Denali and traded in my ‘20 SRW 3500 Denali - you’re correct about the seats, the ‘20 was stiff but the new Ultimate seats are amazing. I looked at a loaded Ram and there were too many… well cheap parts like the sunroof shade. It was so pathetically, thin and flimsy that it made me question where else they put parts of the same nature. I like the ram Ford and GM trucks but I chose the GMC because I am not doing any commercial or industrial work this is just for personal use and I think the comfort level exceeds the other brands, that is just my opinion. God bless.
I agree about the seats. I have the same truck, 2020 version, I feel the seats do not support my lower back even with the ability to adjust them. Other then that I’m very happy with the truck.
The cloth seats are more comfortable I feel, my brother inlaw has a 2023 GMC Sierra SLT 2500HD with leather and they are hard, I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT Z71 and my cloth seats took a bit to break in and they feel great now
I own a 2023 Sierra 1500 AT4. 2 things I like about the 2023 Ford F150 over the Sierra are #1. really soft and comfortable seats. They're spongy and when you go over bumps, the seats absorb the impact. #2. The F150 Center Console and Arm Rest is twice the size of the Sierra.
Nice truck, I have that 12v plug in my 2023 Chevy Duramax High Country 3500, yes I agree the seat is firmer than my 22 ram 3500
JD. I have a 2018 GMC sierra and after 130,000 miles. The seats are still a little stiff. My Ram 1500 Laramie is much more comfortable for me. My other issues have been the transmission. I won’t tow with it anymore. I drive mostly highway miles.
Agree about the seats.
I went from a 2014 sierra SLT rwd with all options on that trim to a 2018 navigator black label, the very top trim with all available options. I was more comfortable in my truck seats than the navigator that has 30-way adjustable, heat/vent, plus massage. I have worked with it for 6 months and haven't found an adjustment that doesnt get uncomfortable within a day or 2. I'm on this video because 6 months in, I am really missing my paid off truck. If i'm making payment, i want to be happy. I think i can get close to the payment on a 22-23 denali with a lot less miles than my lincoln. I went to the suv for the 3rd row, but have looked and think i can get my kids in the back seat. 7yo, 3yo, newborn planned for 5/31, so 2 carseats and a booster.
Marginal towing ability? It’s rated at 9500 pounds. That’s more than most people would need and great for most of the camping trailer world, except for large 5th wheel trailers, which it’s not intended for anyway.
The line of being able to tow a small utility trailer is silly.
Agree miss the 12v outlet
I have the ultimate and love the massage seats
Love my truck didn't like buckle to put in gear dealer fixed . don't like tailgate controls remote in pocket tailgate open.turned on hazzard lights switch nextdoor tailgate open people flagging me down wish tailgate open only rear switch!!! But I ordered it beautiful volcanic red man tons of compliments 👍 ordered the color wheel moulding to match body instead of the black rubber wish chrome and bumper's chrome but my first new one wife always got one I love it I love the seat's and the running boards iam handicapped making it easy to get in my retirement truck got 3200 on it thanks 😊
GM needs to bring the 12 v back and I love the firm seats on my trail boss.
I used to install Katzkin leather in new vehicles. Foam density determines seat comfort. GM needs to lessen the density on the leather seats. Cloth seats need a little more density. Nice video
I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Carbon Pro, I have the same issue with the long and squared off hood. In fact, when I am parking, I frequently just turn on the cameras and then I do not have to guess where my front end is.
Do you wanna see a difference in your rear suspension upgrade the shocks. I put Bilstein 5100 on the rear of my rear of my 2020 silverado. I don't get the sag in the rear like I did with the oem shock. I also did the front struts. Big difference in the ride quality of the truck now.
Have you tried running any diesel additives to increase mpg?
What do you recommend for the suspension upgrade? It sag too much (2” ?) with a 12” single axle trailer. I am currently considering roadmaster HD, and Timbren SES. Or should I get both?
The deployable step up thing absolutely hate them personally especially up here in Canada. The older the truck gets so much salt in rust not worth it up here for me in Canada down south like where you are in Texas they’re great not so great where are they use salt on the roads during the winter and as always I enjoy your videos. Very informative.
have much longer you have to wait for your 2023 F450? can you give us an update?
How is oil consumption?
I agree on the seats on the GM trucks. They are terrible. Owners of the company I work for bought Chevy trucks for sales force for years. I've had a 2008 Silverado ,a 2017 , and a 2020. All made my back hurt. They got me a new 2023 Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT. Smaller truck, but back aches are gone. Nice, quiet truck. Rides good.
This is your first post I’ve seen , curious on your fuel mileage if that’s mixed driving city and highway on your avg mpg
I replaced the foam in both front seats of my Yukon. There is an aftermarket company that sells replacement foam with different density and it makes a huge difference. Takes about 45 minutes to pull the seat and replace, they have a video with step by step instructions
Do you know the company name and if they also do F150s?
Did you get the bed stake hole plugs? Might help with water issue.
I have a 23 Silverado High Country and have had google respond once when I guess it thought I said "Hey Google". The easiest way to exit out of that is to hit the "hang up" button on the steering wheel.
Do you think they will put them back in the 24 models (Cig lighter ) maybe they will listen
Yes 10k for ultimate seats is a stretch
I’m not going to upgrade to the 23 because of all the negatives on the new models I’m sticking with my 21 with column shifter and mine didn’t come with start/stop chip and cylinder deactivation So I’ll keep it 👍✌️🇨🇦
Never had my Google assistant or whatever its called come on. I have never used it but its def never just came on for no reason in my 23 Ultimate. I haven't had it that long I guess only a couple weeks but that hasn't been an issue. Parking too with all the cameras it has you can turn those on. It doesn't really matter what I am driving if I pull into a spot I always think I am parked deeper then I really am. Mine is the Duramax. Wasn't sure about it at first really wanted the 6.2 but this was the only Ultimate in the area for sale and I took it. If it was a 3/4 or 1 ton sure I would have probably paid the extra $10k or whatever it cost for the 6.6 Duramax. I actually got this truck cheaper $1500 cheaper because it was the 3.0 over the 6.2
Hey JD. Very nice looking truck. The fuel economy will get better by the 3rd or 4th oil change.
Do you have any thoughts on a used 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali 4x4 dually? We are looking at replacing our 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT that was totalled last month with the 2011 GMC Sierra 3500HD.
They are not even comparable in anything plus you’re going to lose some technology going from a 2020 to a 2011
Not having sat in a recent ford or dodge lately I cannot say about the seats. That said my dads 2018 3500Highcountry seats are mediocre at best. The seats in my Titan are far superior to anything I've sat in. Just perfect, not to soft, not to hard. It' too bad about the port charging, as in there are none. A major oversight in my opinion. Maybe take to a shop and if your're thinking of keeping it, rebuild the seats. which you shouldnt have to do but cheaper than a new truck of a dif model to get something you might not like again...
I’ve got a 2018 Denali and yep, seats way to firm. I went through about 10 different pads from Amazon to finally find one to go on the seat and another that goes on top of it and around the sides that you can strap down to stay put and it makes it manageable.
Sure not as comfortable as my sons ram.
Just bought a used 2019 ZR2 and having driven one before I know the seats are worse so…already ordered the 4 pads from Amazon for the front seats. Cmon GM, surely you can do better!!!
My powerboost with similar mileage is getting the same mpg. But get all the benefits of the on board generator for camping and less expensive fuel.
Hey we bought a ford f350 crew cab long bed diesel 6.7l engine and have in order a Brinkley z3100 with added generator, dual pane windows, extra solar panel and B&S 20k 5th wheel our truck has payload of 4081 and towing capacity of 22k rv is max 15k will this work? I’m a little worried
Did the truck use oil? I use a Furrion rear camera on my trailer. The monitor requires a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug. Not putting a 12 volt plug in a truck at that price doesn’t make sense. I would probably put air bags on the truck to make towing more comfortable.
So u got this and the f50 and the wife’s suv is that Denali a good daily
What rear axle ratio?
What tailgate cover is that?
Do you have any comment on complaints from other owners on Oil Consumption of the Motor and DEF usage being high?
You would think General Motors would have figured out leaf spring suspension by now.
I might be wrong, But I believe there is a setting to turn off "hey google" detection
I’m in Corpus as well 22 Denali Ultimate. If you ever care to feel difference in seats. Contact me. Can you expand on the rubber bushings (where to get them, how to install please.)
I heard you and now own the same vehicle. Can you share what brand of diesel fuel you put in your truck?
(B20), (Diesel #2), (Diesel #2 R95), (Diesel #2 R99)
To solve the 12V outlet problem I use a power converter off the 110v outlet. I've also noticed that fuel mileage is dependent on quality of the fuel. I've been getting better consistency using a conditioner/treatment in the tank.
I purchased the USB to 12v adapter and it work great.
What kind of treatment do you use?
@@rubenpalacios4874 Hot Shot Everyday Diesel treatment.
First thing I've gone in my trucks is disable the Google voice command function. I've yet to have any instance where it would have of any use.
How do those seats compare to the Ford massaging seats like in the Platinum F250? I've ridden in one of those and I'll take my clothe F150 seats any day. I found the massaging seat to be way to stiff.
The massaging seats in the Denali Ultimate are much softer than the normal seats in the regular Denali like shown here.
GMC Sierra always had not the greatest seats unfortunately. This is a well known issue that I really hope GMC listens and fixes. I love everything about GMC Sierras except their seats lol. I bought a 2020 GMC Sierra elevation new and have had that 3 years, seats never really got much more comfortable. I will say they do break in a LITTLE but not much. They need different seats thats for sure. I feel like a GMC Sierra with ram seats would be the perfect truck.
I also miss the cigarette lighter adaptors. Now I gotta figure out how to power the radar detector and the event camera. Work in progress, using the one 120 vac outlet in the center console. Really hate to get into the fuse box, while the truck is new and under warranty.
I have no issues with the Chevy RST seats. Seem fine to me.
Two questions, 1. Does your google map when it’s guiding you to a well known address constantly reroute and ding? Most of the time, it’s like 15-20 times before it will settle down. Very annoying. And 2. Does your XM cut out for a few seconds about 30 seconds after you start the truck and the radio turns on?
Thanks for the videos. Love the truck and the mileage. I have 1200 miles on mine and my best is 40 mpg at 60 mph with 28-33 with a mix of in town and two lane highway roads with stop lights.
Gm needs to create the 2024 Silverado with a 2 stroke engine
Mine has no homelink!
When you test drove/reviewed the truck, did you like or dislike the seats then? If you didn't like the seats then why would you buy that truck and not a different one?
What do you mean that there’s 23.3 mpg average on the truck but on the tank it’s 21.5? I’m lost…
It's super confusing. The MPGs on the left display is supposed to show you the overall fuel economy of the truck, like an instant readout. The Tank MPG is what I track when resetting it and the trip with each fill-up.
The wife's got a 22 GMC terrain, nice rig but terrible seats. It might be a GM thing
You still need the 9v outlets. For powered Cooler's etc. Just goto a good sterio shop and have them install it.
I got a Silverado and I would say the seats are not comfortable in the least and Ford seats have them beat all day long.
How many qrts does it take for a $150 oil change on a 1/2 ton 😮
7qts on 3.0 duramax
GMs seats are a deal breaker for me, they're so bad, which is weird because 10 years ago they had the best seats. I prefer the look of the Chevy 2500 but I need to be comfortable while towing the camper. We're going to look at the F-250 with the new redesign but right now we're still planning on the RAM 2500. We pushed back our purchase until the end of the year hoping the vehicle market will be better.
One reason I purchased my 2022 Sierra Denali Ultimate is for the massaging seats. Would I like GMC to add them as an option to the "regular" Denali? Sure. I probably would of purchased a standard Denali if I could of optioned it with the massaging seats. I do like the 3-way articulating power running boards. I actually retrofitted my 2016 Sierra Denali with the same power running boards.
Honestly, if you get the Denali with the Denali Reserve package, you're not paying that much less money than the Ultimate, especially if you get the 6.2lt. I recommend that when you get to that price point, just going with the Ultimate.
It's probably regen!
There are several issues I have with them, one is no signal indicators in mirrors, come on GM, this is really getting cheap. I've had them in several and think there great. Also like you no cigarette style plug in, that's two big pet peeves, the seats are another issue, there like sitting on concrete. For the price, GM pull your socks up and listen to the customers.
trifold aluminum bed cover 400 bucks ebay way better no leaks roll ups or slides suck in my opinion
I prefer GM seats to RAM. If i sit in a Ram long enough my back will lock up and then spasm.
Everyone reviewing GM trucks say the seats are uncomfortable
Any issues with oil consumption? Another CZcamsr has a 23 and reporting great fuel economy but also really bad oil consumption. Pickup Truck and SUV talk is the youtuber
Same as the Lm2 engine no changes felt as far as hp and torque!
Diesel engines break in around 25 to 30000 miles. Then you will get better fuel mileage once all the main bearings and bushing are broken in😊😊.
GM needs to go with rear coil springs and offer 4 corner air like Ram 1500.
Not sure if they can do the four corner air, ram trademarked that back in 2013.
@@TheGenerationX894 They TM the name, not the basic technology which has been around for years.
7000 miles lol not even broke in, come back at 70,000miles.
2 year updates don't jive for most CZcamsrs
White's a nice color but be sure to have iron deposit decontamination. Iron deposits are very noticeable and make your truck look like it's starting to rust through the paint. The two colors, white and black are like some women. It can take a lot of work and maintenance to keep them looking nice..
I use to like black wheels now I don't if they came on a truck i was getting I'd be fine with it
How many cars do you have? Why are you loading dirt in denali?
Why not? It's a truck
You're not supposed to fill fuel can on the truck. They should be filled while on the ground.
I was gonna comment this too. I think the plastic can build up static. I'm wondering if newer beds have changed that.
I don’t know what fuel cans he’s filling, but if it’s anything other than gasoline, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Agreed!
Well diesel is less flammable than gas but it’s still not a good habit to fill up fuel tanks in the bed on the off chance it tips over and spills.
If it is diesel, it is ok.
Just for fun, as the dealer service writer to have the mechanic to check the oil pump BELT...
Too much money and too much tech for the Denali Ultimate trim
Apple car play is superior over Google.
Dude, how big of a TV did you get? 6 1/2 ft? Lol
85" from Best buy on sale
I dont like Black Wheels
F150 Limited will solve all of the issues that you are having!
7000 mile review. That's not even enough time and miles to justify a review. 50k should be the minimum miles before something is reviewed. 7k NOTHING should be broken.
Lost me as soon as he started complaining about the cigarette lighter. You knew this when you spent $70k +.
Lost me when your comment is so out of touch with the fact this is an auto review channel.
You really fill your fuel cans in the bed of your truck??? That's ignorant! Ever hear of static electricity?
Yep, plastic diesel fuel cans on a half inch thick solid rubber mat.
Nice review. I have a 20' Sierra 1500 AT4 with the 3.0 Duramax. Traded in a 15' Silverado 3500HD SRW with the 6.6, that I loved. Insurance company pushed me out of it due to increasing the rates. I hadn't used it for what it was intended for since selling my 5th wheel, so it was time to trade... I have had this AT4 for 8 months now, put 10k miles on it. I average around 24 mpg to work and have got 29.8 mph on a 300-mile trip. I would never have been able to do that with the Silverado 3500HD. Two different trucks designed for different purposes... The Diamond Back bed covers will completely seal your bed and is more secure. I installed one in February and really like it. First time I have ever had a bed cover.
