    I've got 8500 miles on my 23 6.2 AT4. 20 inch wheels on Goodyear Trail Runners. Traveled all over Texas and I can say this truck is super smooth and comfortable even after a ten hour stretch and I couldn't believe how quiet the interior is. I wanted a 23 Ram G/T, but there were none on any lots within 3 states of me so I went with the GMC. A little extra I was surprised with was that it also came with a factory performance exhaust. It sounds so good! This truck performs. It does what you want it to when you want it to. The 6.2 jumps when you put your foot in it and the steering and suspension are tight and precise definitely making this a driver's truck. I've been Ram most of my life and Toyota the last 5 years, but very happy with my new GMC.

      Nice truck! Been there brother look at my 22 AT4 6.2 Video in the description. The 6.2 is healthy for sure I'll like go with the twin turbo hurricane ram in a rebel or similar which is going to be a beast at over 500hp. I miss the TRX just hated putting gas in it every 3 days with my traveling. Watch those oem duratracs they get loud after 15k miles on the highway.

      @@danslawncare8594 I've got just under 20k miles now and It's still a dream to drive. Is it worth 78k? It's a 65k truck all day, but I got it when the market was stupid and I didn't want to wait around to see if there would be a change for the better in a year or two. It is what it is as the saying goes. We had a big hard snow at the end of last year and I had a ball 4 wheeling. My truck never missed a beat. I like the interior more and more each day as my passengers always have nice things to say about it. I can't ride my motorcycle for more than an hour before I have to stop and walk for a lower back injury that flares up, but I can last several hours in my truck before I need to stop and do the same. The seats are fairly comfortable and provide good support. They're not plush, but I'm happy with them. I figured I'd have a bug or some failure to complain about by now, but I'm glad to say so far so good. No squeaks or rattles, and no electrical issues. Everything still works like new. I'm very content and I appreciate being able to have a nice truck like this. I know you'll enjoy your 4k trip as much as I would. Stay safe

    Getting rid of my 2020RAM Limited. 3rd one in 7 years. One was a lemon that Stellantis bought back. Too many issues. Just got back after a month because of an air ride issue and they couldn't get the parts. This is a common problem that RAM dealers have been complaining about lately. I do hope you have great luck with your new RAM!

Ford nails the seats, infotainment, sound system and ambient lighting vs the GM who still hasn’t figured out how to make a seat comfortable , but I do love the look of the Denali with those saddle seats. The latest video review is up on my channel for that rig. I agree Stellantis isn’t running things very good but the Ram fit, finish and ride are untouchable. 1st year new redesign , sure issues will happen, what was the issues? Electrical? I'm under warranty and keep trucks for about 6 months to a year. I've had a 2011 ecoboost f150, 2015 F-150 5.0, 21 Ford Bronco, and 22 raptor so I'm very versed with Ford and had plenty of issues with each. Every brand has its issues, just look at the forums for each none are perfect. My big issue with the Fords is the bed bounce on the highway with the aluminum bed , the truck never felt stable at speed even after swapping to Bilsteins. Coils in the rear transform the truck, even Ford knows this as it was done on the gen 3 raptor. We all have our personal preference, this review is a straight forward and is based on pros and cons. Ram is going on 4 years In a row truck of the year , that isnt by accident.

    22 inch with low profile tires and it also depends on tire brand will not drive smooth. You get performance handling as a benefit but you’ll also get a reduced tire life. Stay with 18 -20 inch and tire type and brand makes a big difference.

      It’s just two different customers, I run 40 mins to work on skinny backroads, and the highway so a comfortable truck is key for long commutes. When I had my 22 Ram 2500 Cummins I loved it but couldn’t stand the lack of rack and pinion steering (this applies to all HD trucks) with the HD ride. I would love another HD truck with 37s or larger but the drive, and fuel economy isn’t on my side which I quickly learned. Plus why drive a HD truck if I don’t need it? Why pay for def, higher maintenance costs and less equipment for more money. At this time it doesn’t fit my lifestyle.

  • @bret9741
    @bret9741 Před 7 měsíci +3

    A lot of the decisions made by manufacturers are driven by car magazine writers. The vast majority of the writers drive BMW’s or Teslas and live on LA or NY. They constantly push for larger wheels and car like rides and handling. I’ve even seen / read pickup truck reviewers complaining about pickup trucks riding and handling like pickup trucks. The stupid thing about this is… most pickup truck owners want a pickup because they are true utilitarian vehicles with the ability to hit a curb or pothole without damaging the wheels or suspension. 22” wheels are truly worthless. They do not provide enough rubber around the wheel to protect them nor do they provide any protection to the suspension and thus the truck.
    Ideally, 18-20” wheels are best for a 1/2 ton truck and you’ll find an 18” will ride better and last longer if properly maintained.
    I have two identical F-150’s both king ranches for our company. One has 20” with Michelin LTX MS2 and the other has 18” with same tires. One is a 2005, the other a 2007. These trucks have been meticulously kept and look and run like the day they were purchased. The pickup with the 18” wheels rides and handles better than the 20” in all but extreme turns.
    I’ve considered buying the Denali Uktimate with the diesel. If I do, first thing I’ll do is ask the dealer to swap out 22’s for 20’s. If they won’t, I’ll sell and buy aftermarket wheels and Michelins tires.

    • @DerekBonzagni
      @DerekBonzagni  Před 7 měsíci

      I totally agree, when I had my 18 F150 Lariat and then my king ranch I swapped the wheels and tires (34s) right away so I get the concept. I now have the 24 Ram and put a set of 34's on the 22s and the truck rides like glass with no ride punishment due to the air suspension. We see this concept with Porsche as well on our Cayennes with larger wheels. Now I have the look and the ride which will be the next video I post. My point here was that old school leaf springs and 22s don’t mix well on this Denali and it’s a pain to lift 3 to 4 inches to squeeze a 34-35 plus you have to bypass the magnetic ride control. AT4X is setup on 33s and has a more advanced shock if GMC is what you want.

      @DerekBonzagni  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I had a 2021 Black Elevation and really loved it, for the look, and economy of the diesel I would recommend it for sure. I liked the ride better with those black 20 inch wheels even more than this Denali. It's a great choice for a nice all around truck, if your towing a bunch make sure get the upgraded tow package. The F-150 has the highest payload and towing capacity with a bunch of engine options, 5.0 V8, the popular 2.7 Ecoboost, and 3.5 Ecoboost, if your looking for speed/towing the F-150 wins. Fords issues over the years is the recalls and part supply issues. Ram Longhorn model is my favorite for fit/finish and the 5 link coils in the rear giving you the best ride in the half ton segment. The 5.7 Hemi is great but won't get 25mpg like the duramax. The fuel is less and you don't need def fluid so it might offset. It comes down to what you like, they are all great and offer similar options in that price range. Your needs are likely different than mine.

      Ford trucks have always had my interest, while GM’s have been a close 2nd. A few days ago I walked into a Ram dealer here in Michigan to kill some time before picking my son up from school, and I began considering their 1500. From your video and others, the ride quality of the Ram seems superior compared to the competition, but although subjective, I don’t believe its exterior is as handsome as what Ford & GM offers. I’d prefer the infotainment screen being horizontal, while also having a center console gear selector as you mentioned. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I like to rest my hand on the shifter -Which the rotary dial won’t allow.
      If I swapped vehicles at the rate you do, maybe my nitpicking wouldn’t play such a vital role in my decision making. Well any who -Looks like I got some test driving to do in the coming days, so I’ll be sure to check your channel for more truck content. Nice videos brother…

I grew up with a 85 F150, 92 F150, Broncos, Chevy Square Bodys, and even a few rams. They all had their flaws and we could back and forth all day. Your saying it's wrong to be unbias? You can't say I'm not a real truck guy when I've owned just about everyone they make (see my truck review playlist) including more basic GMC Elevation models, XLT F150s, etc. So if I choose a premium ride my expectations are going to be critical at this price point. Most of your complaints are so minor that it's almost whiney, dude. I get the low profile wheels. That's why my truck has 18" wheels. It's not a Corvette, after all. Look, I may have misjudged you to some degree, but when people complain about materials in a truck, it's a TRUCK and not an S Class. 90% of trucks will be used for the purpose of doing work, and materials like leather don't hold up. It just makes you come across as some wine sipping snob that buys a "premium" truck as a trophy and status symbol. Good luck with that Ram. Everyone I know that owned one ended up regretting it in time.

      @@ruelsmith Sit in a 2020+ ram then you can comment back, have you owned the other trucks? Plenty of 200k mile plus rams out there, this isn't the 90s when it was under different ownership. Maybe when you spend 80k and compare trucks at this level you'll understand the difference in fit in finish. Grab a motortrend, car and driver or any truck comparison and you'll read the same comments I'm stating. Your argument would be valid if I was nit picking a $40-50k standard truck. To be clear I'm not a hater of GMC in fact in the HD class I prefer it and I loved my 22 6.2 GMC AT4 except for the seats ($12k less truck). GMC makes a solid truck and was smart to team with Ford on the 10 speed auto in the newer trucks. If you like your $80k truck with stuff missing that the other brands have then go for it. That is brand loyalty. Ram spent some money in this new generation and has won truck of the year 3 If not 4 years in the row (half ton segment). Options I have not available on GMC , 4 corner air suspension which allows 34s out of the box, 5 link coil suspension (Ford Raptor 3rd gen also has this), ambient lighting throughout the cabin, digital cock pit with more customization, 12v power sockets, aux switches availability prewired for more lights, accessories or whatever, full panoramic roof, better sound system, more comfortable seats, adjustable pedals, led projector headlights that move for cornering, and heated cooled reclining back seats. This is what the Germans offer in their vehicles hence the reason I enjoy these options. Don't worry I have a base farm truck in the works for my property so I am very much a truck guy.
