    Had to check when you said the dually F450 turn tighter than the 1500. Looks like the F450 has a 50 foot turning circle and the 1500 is 47 feet. Maybe it feels tighter since it's a longer truck and it's close? Some of the GM forums say the Denali seats need to break in. Glad you like it overall.

    Coming from a Ford fanboy, I like the GMC brand. Buddy of mine has a GMC truck (I don’t know the trim package) and he loves it. When we go out in his truck, it’s always a nice smooth ride. 1/4 ton trucks are built for ride & work. 3/4 & 1 ton trucks are a lot more work. IMO.
    My ‘05 F350 CC SRW is a dinosaur compared to it but I love it.

    Just bought a 2024 silverado ltz 3.0 diesel. Loving it, but couple curiosities. 1. The shifter is in the center console, you push forward to go in reverse and pull backward to go in drive (forward gear) 🤔 2. It has trailering mirrors (large) there is no turn indicator light in the mirrors. Not a big deal but just odd. That said great acceleration , great fuel mileage - love the HUD.

    When we first switched from our f350 to our high country 3500 we thought about the same on the seats. After some longer trips with our rv we notice we feel the seats are better on the high country for those longer drives. They don’t get as uncomfortable over hours of driving as compared to our f350. Maybe that is just how we feel about it.

Cool that you’re in Corpus, I’m out by Mathis if you ever want to do a comparison and options. I bought mine up in Dallas and drove it home. Your comments on the seats helped a ton. I've got a 2022 F-150 Raptor that I love. BUT......the gas mileage sucks (which I knew) and I've been debating going the GMC denali route for the right quality, duramax diesel, and HUD. The downside is that the truck won't be nearly as fun to drive, and now, after hearing about the seats, it sounds like it won't be as comfy as my Raptor for long trips

    3:51 GM goofed up the instrument cluster design by swapping the location of the speedo and tach. For many decades, the speedo has always been on the right. Even back on the old square body trucks from 73-87!

      7-9 months. Is the body shop that backed up with work or are there parts they just can't get their hands on to fix it.

    • @billm2516
      @billm2516 Před rokem

      @JesseLJohnson The truck needed a whole passenger inner and out bed side plus a new transfer case. The body started the work in late February or early March only to discover that the cross member that supports the rear suspension was pushed through the driver and passenger frame rails. So my insurance company has deemed the truck a total loss.
      I have my eye on a 2011 GMC 3500HD Denali crew cab 4x4 with only 60k miles on it.

    • @JesseLJohnson
      @JesseLJohnson Před rokem

      @@billm2516 If its totaled your insurance must have offered you a price for you to keep the truck and another price if they take it to a salvage auction. I know mom crashed her Lincoln Continental a couple years ago and her insurance cut her a check for damn near what she paid for it new a couple years earlier. We could have fixed it but I looked up what some of the parts were going to be and forget it lol. Headlights were crazy besides every airbag in the car was deployed so the seats were all blown apart and everything. It wasn't that much of a wreck either and we have a body shop we could have fixed it but the lights alone were like $2k each the grill was like $800 I think. Unless you can get them now. Mom tapped a deer in it right after she got it and only damage it did was crack the grill and I swear I paid like $900 for it and it took months for the Ford dealer to get it for me

    Regarding the Google nav - it should be noted it only works if you pay the additional monthly subscription fees for the on-board cell service. Which of course is ridiculous given pretty much everybody already has a cell phone with unlimited data that you will be pairing to the truck via Android Auto or carplay. But no, it won't use that connection. Of course you can still use your phone's Android nav via the truck's display after pairing and it works fine, but GM always defaults to their on-board system and makes you manually re-select Android at each start-up. To make it even more confusing, the icons and displays are the same. They also limit the access to some items like sat radio when using Android for nav/etc. Maybe there is a technical reason for this but it really just feels like a money grab in the form of yet another monthly subscription fee.

    My 2021 Denali 1500 with the LM2 3.0 had issues from 2500 miles on. Long story short...needed a new engine and after that the problems got worse. Oil leaks, ac compressor leak, coolant leaks and the GM dealer left parts hanging all over. Missing hardware, air cleaner not connected and I drive a couple miles before noticing where the rattle came from. Would buy Another because I loved the truck/engine/trans combos. But what a nightmare of a lemon I got!!! 🍋

    I believe the trailer cams are $800. At least that is what they told me when I just bought my 23 Ultimate. I might buy them but for the most part the only trailer I ever tow is my Big Tex car trailer. I do have a couple enclosed trailers but I couldn't tell you the last time I towed them. The smaller one I use for a shed basically and the other I use basically as a garage for my Vette. I have open car trailers and a tow dolly though and really don't see that much of a need for the cams for them but its so cool I probably will still buy them. I want to buy a dump trailer too. I should have got the one the neighbor had for sale this past fall. I split time between 3 houses so I haven't been up at that house in a while if he still has it when I get back up there I might buy it. Not sure how much I will really use it but I have always wanted one and he wanted basically half what a new one runs so lol. I think it was a 2018 PJ. Belonged to somebody he knew that had a tree service that died so he was trying to sell it and the equipment that he had for his tree business and that dump was one of the things and he wanted $5k for it.

    the multi-pro tailgate being a load stop is more designed for the 6'5 inch bed as it turns the bed into an 8'1 inch bed with the tailgate down and bedstop up. In the short bed trucks its really only useful for being a step and maybe for providing a work surface. The HD is the same despite the bed length being longer by 2 inches because the sides (and therefore tailgate height/length) are shorter by 2 inches. Honestly chevy didn't push that hard enough but then again they know most their trucks being sold have the 5'5 bed and are never used for work, and HD's that do real work either have the tailgate off or are upfitted anyways. One other neat tip (granted ive never seen this verified) is that the stop in the upper position is supposed to be the same height as the inserts for wooden crossbeams above the wheel wells, so if actually utilize that you can apparently get some extra length that way, maybe with the short bed you can fit 6' long items on that raised platform?

    I actually like how 1/2 ton leaf spring trucks handle on the road, once you get to 3/4 ton they definitely suck for daily driving. That's why I'm leaning towards a RAM 2500 because it handles like a 1/2 ton truck, but I do have to give up the diesel to get the payload I want. So there's always some compromise. The GM seats just drive me crazy, they make my knees hurt on long drives.

    I'm shocked that GM converted to a console mounted shifter when they specifically said they were sticking with a column shifter "because that's what their customers wanted" back when they introduced the 2020 1500 redesign. I am pretty sure it was in a video from TFL Truck when they said that. The console mounted shifter sits higher in a full size truck than in a Canyon/Colorado/Ranger, so it kind of gets in the way when using the drink holders.

But does the fuel economy compensate for the diesel price ? Because i fill up my high country for about 140$ how much does it take to fill this one up?

    • @v8chevy788
      @v8chevy788 Před rokem

      You must own a 2500 or 3500 high country??? My 2021 GMC 1500 Denali has a 24 gal fuel tank so assuming that diesel is $4.50/gal, I would be looking at $108 assuming that it was totally empty...

    Probably the biggest reason I wouldn't buy this truck is the waxed frame. I need to wash my undercarriage. How do these waxed frames hold up North?

    • @bryanangelov
      @bryanangelov Před rokem

      Yeah, the waxed frame sucks and it appears that this is an additional maintenance item - you have to spray a protection every year or once every two years.

      Agree 100% - I'm in California so rust isn't an issue but I was still shocked to see that mess of goo sprayed all over the underside of the truck. I can't believe any manufacture uses such a half-ass measure today. Of course, this is the only GM truck I've ever owned so I'm finding lots of "chevy" things I have to adjust to. But still...this looks like it will wash off the first time I put a pressure washer to it and makes working on the truck a messy disaster as if it was a car from the 70s with 200k worth of oil leaks. A big fail.

    Great video of your Denali. I am about to factory order a 2023 Denali 1500 and I’m so torn between the Duramax or the 5.3 v8. I do not tow anything and never will. Which engine would you recommend getting. I’ve never owned a diesel and am intrigued by the Duramax. Also do I get 4x4 or 4x2? I never go off-road. I just want a nice truck that will be my last vehicle purchased. This will be my first truck ever owned too.

      Not sure what to say about the diesel or gas option but as far as 4wd or 2wd. Go with what your needs are. What climate do you live in, does it snow a lot where you're at to justify the cost of paying for something that you may only use 2 to 3 times a year in the winter? You also have to figure that with 4wd that you have more moving parts in a 4wd that are subject to wear even when the truck isn't in 4wd. I live in New Hampshire and have a 2018 GMC standard cab with an 8 foot bed and it's 2wd and I haven't really had any issues with driving it in the winter. Normally the roads have been pretty well plowed and cleared, I also have weight in the back over my rear axle which helps too. The other thing to look at as well. A 2wd truck will be a bit lower than a 4wd as well. The only thing I can say that I don't really like about the 5.3 engine is that it has that cylinder deactivation, to me it can be a bit quirky and depending on some situations it will have a wierd sound and feel to it.
