Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad Spurs Controversy | TODAY
Regardless of who is offended by this ad, it's just lame. The "point" Pepsi was trying to get across was lost by trying to throw everything in one commercial. I can see where the backlash is coming from so I'm going to let Pepsi suffer the negative repercussions of their lame commercial.
yeah, ok. you follow any of the kardashians or jenners? step aside you baby sheep.
Kat Prinner Me a baby sheep? Okay think what you may. First I would recommend you get to know me first. I've never been a follower of the Kardashians. I specifically said this commercial was lame. As in it sucked on a surface level. After that I couldn't care less. Accusing me of being a sheep is an uneducated assumption so stop throwing names around and if you want to see who I am. Add me on Instagram @the_returnofme
+Tony Look. I'm sorry if I came off mean. BUT, truth? IDC about ur Instagram right now. .. we can talk here, openly. my only question is, IF you are indeed a individual of substance... WHY say something SO naive???
Kat Prinner Critiquing a bland commercial isn't naive. Assuming people are sheep and eat whatever the media throws in their face is naive. I am at the age where media is thrown in my face constantly and I usually filter it out. Yet even with me filtering it out I still enjoy memes at my age and this is blowing up in the meme community so I came to check it out. I watched the advertisement and I left my opinion which I am entitled to. You can think what you'd like of me, but thank you for the conversation.
+Tony L right. lol. smh
Drink water y'all
That's racist.
Yes drink water and pray but if are not a beiliever try God He is the water of Life
Water is the best.
. I guess we're all just 75% water. Must be my skin color.
or coke.
There was a chemical attack in Syria two days ago and we're debating on a Pepsi commercial. Welcome to 2017
"We're here to fight the evil corporate capitalists"
"oh ...and Pepsi is here too"
Don't scroll down. This is for your own good.
an ad about people who protest or aka, SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS, and guess who's triggered...
SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
well th ad was cringey to say the least
Now I remember why I had my cable shut off.
There is nothing wrong with the ad wtf people mad about?
It's probably because she gave a cop a soda I guess nowadays we can't be nice to cops or anybody in Texas everybody is nice to each other
like they said in the video "Ok so they just solve complex problems with a pepsi, world peace achieved"
Zxch There's allot of misinformation here about the ad it's not just about the ad itself it's stuff that happened before the ad with Google & CZcams
SJW'S Fantasy
desertsn0wball So what? It's just a stupid advertisement for a Soda, you really think whining is gonna help, you are just giving more attention than they already have.
This commercial and its type are nothing new. Soft drink companies have been making similar ads for decades. If you go through the history of advertising you will find a myriad of similar ads.
"Drink a [fill in the blank] and you will find peace", etc. It has been done before. People have become far too hyper-sensitive to every perceived injustice that we will literally not be able to *breath* without asking permission first, lest we should offend someone.
I actually thought this was a parody of SJW's. lol
Yeah me too, great ad. Shows a bunch of spoiled snowflakes protesting for ... uh ... well, they have no idea what they're protesting for (just like in real life). lol
so if you're not protesting then would you be doing to help a cause, Hashtags? stand for something or fall for nothing you choose
Social issues coupled with political undertones does not bode well for our business. We are pulling all Pepsi products from our business.
Too late
Pfsif Not to late! They have been pulled.
I can't believe this is even news
Why is this even controversial? Honestly confused European here.
So many STD's in that commercial.
Come on at least give him a Coke
Imao only in America they get offended by this, but they voted Trump into office 😂😂😂
It's just a commercial. I understand the anger behind the obvious abuse of power some cops show/use, but this is obviously a commercial to show adversity and that peace can be easy if we let it...
ok tell me. why it is that FIVE people discuss about ONE. It's not that big of a deal.
What's wrong with the ad is the Kardashian.
Stupid Pepsi Ad
seems wars can be stopped by something simple as pepsi
"tent" ... I don't get it?
it was a precious commercial....
...almost made my eyes water up...
...if it would of been Pepsi in a glass bottle I probably would have started crying..
Hey Carson Daly, who's Kendall Jenner?
Why was this a story? You can always find people who don't like something.
why is she wearing a blond wig at first?
All I got from this ad was that we should all come together... 👀
I dare any of you around Al Roker to say"Holy Ghost"and watch his face!
I highly doubt any of the jenners or kardashians drink pepsi or coke, or any soda unless it is diet.
Bruh I'm just waiting on that new Uncle Drew movie
PEPSI - virtue in a can.
This is the inevitable result of mixing BUSINESS with POLITICS.
People don't want corporations telling them how to think - just stick to making drinks Pepsi.
And Al Roker cops out again!
It's just commercial people! Don't you have bigger problems.
Who's Kevin and why does he need to be sued
way to go pepsi for pointing out 99% of police arent bad i love this commercial
it. is. an. advertisement. it's not that deep. people really need to stop actively searching for things to be upset about. it's getting old.
that was a pretty good commercial. did i miss something.
They like getting off the subject.
I dont find this offensive at all but thats just me. The only mistake Pepsi did is portraying a political issue through their commercial and they should know better that this is a sensitive matter to be pressing on.
That was pretty sensitive to do a commercial like that because Kendall Jenner a rich California white girl can give a Cop a Pepsi in and it's all good but in a real protest people end up dying what a sad world smh
pepsi's intent was to make it a 'controversy'...controversy sells...they've done it before...this isn't new...they'll do it again...i'm not buying pepsi solely based on this ad eg: michael jackson and madonna had pepsi 'controversies'...tho' why they used that jenner chick this time around is beyond me...this is the first time i've seen her in action...yuck...i turned off the tv in the 80's and gave it away in the '90's because i no longer wished to see how stupid the powers that be think we are...you can keep your subliminal messages to yourselves
You guys need to chill. It wasn't her that made this up all she did was act for money that's pretty much Jenner and Kardashian.
edit: I'm not hating on the BLM movement or am I supporting police brutatlity. I actually pray it ends. Sorry for any confusion. I'm just stating the fact that people took this a different route when it was meant to bring people together peacefully. Sorry if I hurt anyone. I just got the fact from a classmate who is with BLM so I assumed it was true. Sorry if my commen was misleading. Next time i'll do an actual check of my work.
BTS and NCT Trash [Yuta's Smile] what about shutting ur mouth kid and go back to ur kpoop ?
You should probably do some research. ..
i edited the comment, sorry if I hurt you in any way.
first of all it's kpop. second I edited my comment, please re-read it. I apologize for the confusion.
wow. you actually apologized for being incorrect. props for not getting overly defensive over the internet, you seem very decent. have a nice day (:
This is just preposterous! In my opinion, all Pespi was trying to do was convey the message that all of the world's biggest problems are inherently simple and easy to solve, if we all just learned to respect one another and get along. What's actually wrong with Mankind is that we need to complicate things and mess it all up first-hand (like we're doing right now: reading something horrible into something that was supposed to be a positive message). People should just learn to relax and care about things that really matter. By the by, if you want drop me a line, there's no need to offend. I'm just stating my opinion.
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT saying that the real issues happening in the World don't matter, OBVIOUSLY. I just think that we should know how to "separate the waters".
But the thing is. These AREN'T real problems it's just something the media has stretched and made way to big, just so they can get their millions and call actual successful people greedy. A very minor issue stretched way out of proportion which has just caused more problems like riots and hateful protests on the other end. And by the way it's preposterous*
António Mendes Seems like a solid solution....except for all of the real issues that require more than just an "agree to disagree" attitude. Abortion and Israel v Palestine are two off many that spring to mind.
Smooth comment edit there
SJW
lol yall gotta chill out à bit
Only good thing in this video is Matt Lauer
This all says something, what is it?
There's nothing wrong with the ad. Pepsi is Love, Cheetos is Life. ❤
Thank you Today Show, t have that was beautiful and Sweeet, peace and love, Doug.
People are ridiculous ~
Sue Kevin
OMG the video is about people of all walks of life finding common ground, if the Pepsi had been shaken up before she gave it to him would that have been better? I mean cmon
Oh jeez...grow up people!...
Capitalism 101 should be a required course in High School
The nation wasn't as sensitive when the "I'd like to buy the world a coke" commercial came out. There wasn't as much racial tension and the PC culture wasn't as prevalent. Also there wasn't any social media. Every thing you did wasn't analyzed for racism, sexism, homophobia, and/or transphobia. Also people didn't dig deep into history books to find a way to make someone look like a bigot.
Very true, everything is done to put people in their own groups, racist etc etc.Divide and then Conquer,All part of the plan, its not looking good for the future
If a black actress/celebrity did the ad you won't hear all this beeaching.
stupid ad. but, black lives matter should be outraged by uncle drew pepsi ads, instead of this one. the movie" idiocracy" has come to fruition in our present society.
Ughh people luuurrvee to feel offended up there, apparently. It's just an ad. Relax a little guys, it won't hurt you, I promise!!
wow just got 2 know that even pepsi can offend ppl what is going on with ppl
Nothing's wrong with it
Honestly, who is unhappy about this advertisement? Probably the Republicans. The protest shown is clearly a protest for peace, equality, unity and universal love. The pepsi handed to the police officer is a peace offering, showing that the protesters won, depicted by the officer accepting and drinking the pepsi. This is how I see this ad. Nothing wrong with promoting peace, equality, unity or universal love, the protesters weren't violent in any way. #Namaste
The stupidest thing, how Pepsi's trying to make believe they'd give brandnew pair of jeans and even shoes with a can
Ommm I don't see the controversy, the ad was really cool! wtf
mini throw up... not cool and why her of so many other real role models... a miss Pepsi.... you conveyed wrong message with this one
Pepsi just want to impose an idea on viewers; Buy Pepsi and peace will be achieved.
I don't understand what's wrong with the commercial either. I actually think it's beautiful. I see it as showing people we can all be respectful of one another even through our different views. I'm assuming the issue people have is Kendall giving the Police Officer a soda? It seems the "in thing" is to bash Police Officers. There are only a few out of the lot that are bad. The same as how people don't want their cultures to be lumped as bad. There are bad people out there. They come in all colors and shapes. If you don't want to be condemned for what someone of your family does, don't condemn the whole Police Dept for what a few bad apples do. That being said, not all of what you see is the whole story. Maybe sit down with an officer and hear his/her opinion of what was happening at the moment before judging.
ill drink coke....
main news from this segmen: HEY KIDS SUE KEVIN!!!
Why so many people are butt hurt and so sensitive. Wow is just a commercial. Everyone runs on Dunkin, its should of been a DD ad then people would b of been really offended lol. Geez, so stupid .
Maybe if they got Beyoncé instead of Kendall, I wouldn't mind this commercial. I got the ad message but the execution sucks!
boycott!!!!!!!
Americans are so delicate. Lol
All I get from this ad is positivity honestly. I don't see why people see it as if it is Satan himself
It seemed like it had more in common with the hippie girl putting the flower into the gun, than black lives matter. Guessing they just want something else to be about them, though.
Drink Coke now... LOL
People always tryna take out that -1% negative out of a very positive material.
oh kardashians =D ... :-P
Haaaaaaaa🐽🐽
BOYCOTT PEPSI
#Pepsilivesmatter
who is thils old boring guy?
I watched the ad how is it offensive the People following the PCs movement are so arrogant
I consider myself a liberal and support BLM to some extent. But honesty this is ridiculous. Why are you upset? Pepsi literally tried to appeal to everyone in that commercial. So what if you see her handing a soft drink to a police officer, is that an inherently bad thing? Are all police bad? If you believe the answer is yes then I can't help you and will argue no further.
A terrorist movement is upset over a Pepsi commercial? Why do we care again?
you mean you're terrorist movement? you know? the protest when you throw a fit because Hillary lost? the commercial was Liberal Propaganda written all over it
Yes, the commercial was clearly leftist propaganda. That's why I'm happy at the backlash.
Same with the backlash against Kendrick Lamar recently. His intent was to promote black feminism, and yet thousands of black feminists were outraged.
It's pleasing to see the extremist leftists fighting amongst themselves. They're always arguing over who's the most oppressed. I think these controversies are going to cause more people to be anti-SJW.
A terrorist movement? i bet you don't even know what real terrorism is, you just watch twitter and make conclusions
Shiba Diba whose murdered over BLM lately? Meanwhile an actual terrorist stack happened in Canada due to the president of the us
#BlueLivesMatter
People are annoying, you're taking this too literally. It's obviously a metaphor for peace and whatnot, paired with the music I felt at ease watching this. But nooooo you have to get triggered at something. I actually had to read an article to wonder how it was bad, if that is the case then you're getting annoyed over nothing. My only wonder is if the cop getting the pepsi is danny from teen wolf.
Who got offended by this??? And by all means I will agree that the commercial is stupid but not controversial
This is a good commercial and i`ll be heading to the market today to buy some Pepsi to enjoy.
